Awesome!

I played Starcraft 1 and I liked it and this sequel is even better. I have not played over the net yet. I need a lot of practice first before I get into the fray.

Starhype

The graphics for this game are lousy. It might appeal to the mid - twenties who live in moms basement, otherwise give this a miss

Best RTS ever made

An amazing game. The matchmaking system is excellent, and ensures that noobs get matched up with each other. No matter how good you are, you will always have an even match. The pro scene is extensive and entertaining. If you liked the first one, or Age of Empires 2, or any other RTS, or Risk, or Chess, you will love this game.

Nice

Another classic from blizzard. They changed enough that you dont feel like your paying for the same game with better graphics, but didnt change to much that it ruins the starcraft experience. The balance of the game is quite good i think and blizzard is always working on that kind of stuff for each patch that comes out. Only thing i regret is not buying it sooner.

Definitely lived up to the hype

True sequel to Starcraft, the game that defines its genre. Somebody without much discipline could play for hours, even days non stop. The only one thing that I was bothered by was the long development time. I guess that's how long it took for Blizzard to pack it with an adequate amount of Awesome.

A long wait

Well after playing now for several hours I have too say I am not impressed. I should explain myself though. The as far as how it looks is of course much better then the origional, mind you after over a decade it should look amazing. I was dissapointed with the fact that it really has not changed since the first one. I guess maybe with all the hype I was expecting more from this game then what I have seen. Some new units but not really anything that causes you to say wow this is really cool. The multiplayer inspite of all the work to bring a balenced gameplay has once again boiled down to how fast can I click my little mouse. If you are quick you win, if you are slow.....well you get the point. I guess the story line backed game is where they put all of the effort cause its pretty decent. My only warning is keep your expectations in check. Its a good game but its not worth the hype, nor the wait.

Amazing!

A great game for all! perfect for people who have never played the Starcraft series before! But players that are switching from Starcraft 1 to 2 you may have some trouble geting used to the new units and abillitys and overall gameplay. Story mode is astonishing! instead of the normal 30 missions you get im Starcraft 1 there are 50! and different paths are allowed to be taken in the order of the missions! you can also buy units and upgrades to use durring missions! Overall: Top notch game!!!

SC1 in 3D, that's it

If you're expecting to be blown away by this game as you were by SC1, if you played it in the years when it came out, prepare to be disappointed. Game play is exactly the same in terms of resources gathering and battles, you can use the terrain elevation has the same advantage/disadvantage as SC1, and multiplayer is literally "If I click 1 split second faster than my opponent, I win". Spare yourself the frustration and just go play the single player at a friend's house, if you want to see the story.

Beta/Multiplayer Review

Starcraft 2 is a good follow up to SC1 in terms of graphics and gameplay. The game itself id polished, and relatively well balanced for top tier play (1v1). The flaws are all associated with Battlenet 2.0, and are major. First the game can only be accessed while logged in, not unlike GFWL or Steam. Second the custom match system is completely broken with games listed by popularity, no private games (unless friends), and all auto starting. Third there is no chat channels. Fourth the multiplayer matchmaking system is broken outright, having a balanced match is unlikely, you will often get pinned against either higher/lower divisions, or in team matches against pre arranged teams. The game itself is solid, however the battlenet 2.0 interface is atrocious at best. Still the game is worth the money, one of the best RTS out there, and since Blizzard won't be making Warcraft 4 for probably 30 years buying this game is recommended for your RTS fix.
