The Best in Class Fund

The Best in Class Fund supports schools by advancing learning through technology in the classroom.

Since the Best in Class Fund program started in 2008, Best Buy has donated $750,000 in technology grants to various schools in Canada. To learn more about the Best in Class Fund experience, watch this video.

This year we are giving away $200,000 in technology grants to Canadian schools with students in Kindergarten to Grade 8.

2012 Winners

The Best in Class Fund began in 2008 and to-date Best Buy has donated nearly $1 million in technology grants to schools in Canada. The program was open to teachers with students in kindergarten through grade 8 at schools across Canada.

Best in Class Fund - How it works

How it Works

Teachers must submit the proposal to outline how they would like to integrate Best Buy technology into the classroom and how the technology will provide an educational benefit to their students.

Teachers have from September 20 through November 17 2011 to submit their proposal online.

The application also includes a budget component to highlight the item(s) and resources you would purchase and the quantity of each. The request can be as big or small as you like, however the total amount should not be more than $20,000.

Best in Class Fund - Guidelines

Guidelines

  • This program is open to Canadian schools with students in Kindergarten to Grade 8.
  • The teacher must submit the proposal; one submission is allowed per school.
  • The maximum length for the written application is 500 words.
  • Written proposal must address the required criteria.
  • Previous Best in Class Fund grant recipients are not eligible to apply to the program.
  • Submissions must be submitted online between September 20 and November 17, 2011, 11:59 a.m. PST.
  • Any content submitted to the Best in Class Fund program will be made available for Best Buy to use internally and externally.
  • Winning schools will be required to have a contract signed by their school board. Click here to view the Best in Class Fund Agreement.
  • Winning schools must be available to participate in a video showing students using the Best Buy technology in their school in spring, 2012. The video will become available for Best Buy to use internally and externally. Therefore, schools applying to the program must be willing to participate in a follow-up video (not a requirement for Quebec applicants).
  • All winning schools will be required to allow Best Buy to hold an event at the school to present the school with their technology grant and take photos and/or video that will be used in news releases, in print, and online at www.BestBuy.ca.
  • Winning schools must use their Best Buy gift cards to purchase technology at a Best Buy store. Only technology from Best Buy can be purchased with the gift cards and special orders will not be available.
