Google Now had been one of those “killer” Android features that many iPhone users were secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) envious of. In some ways, the Android app was a competitor to Siri, Apple’s iOS intelligent personal assistant, but it leveraged Google’s other services to become a very powerful handsfree search tool that learned and acted proactively. In its new incarnation on iOS —as part of Google Search— Google Now is more a complement to Siri than a replacement. Unless you own an older iPhone that doesn’t currently support Siri. In that case, thanks to Google Now, you can now have a taste of that personal digital assistant experience without being forced to upgrade to an iPhone 5 or 4S.
