It failed to power up after 2 weeks

Bought this laptop for my son as the price was quite reasonable. 2 weeks later it started to first reboot randomly and soon wouldnt even power up at all. When you press the power button the LED lit up for a brief second and that was the end of it. I brought this back to BestBuy and the Geeksquad there confirmed the laptop is unresponsive. They promptly provided a replacement but I am now wondering how long this second unit will last..

Good laptop but hard drive sucks

Laptop has enough bells and whistles at this price point but the hard drive sucks big time. The potential of this laptop is limited unless you upgrade it to an SSD, period! Sluggish performance with the 1TB mech hdd but slide in an SSD and this becomes lightning fast (used mech hdds in my old laptops but this one's a snail) Pros: 1) Decent processor at this price (2 cores, hyper-threading capable) 2) 8GB RAM (upgradeable to 16GB). 2 x 4GB sticks\ 3) Touch screen is a bonus. Decent performance. 4) Uniform touchpad gives a good feel while using. 5) Bluetooth 6) Decent battery 7) Comes with 1 year Office365 subscription 8) Empty DVD drive bay. This doesn't come with a DVD drive which may have actually reduced the price of this laptop. This is good as we can slide a 9.5mm caddy to use a second HDD. 9) Backlit keyboard (you will appreciate it while working in dark room) 10 Nice matte finish to the body. Cons: 1) Non removable battery 2) Keyboard could have been better. Placement of main return key and left shift key is awkward. Needs time to get used to. 3) Build quality is filmsy (but cant expect a solid quality at this price) 4) Numlock gets off at every reboot. Annoying to me personally. Overall a good laptop with an SSD upgrade but a dud without one.

Ok touchscreen laptop

The display is not as sharp as I want, a bit washed out. What I don't like the most is the camera, quite grainy.

OK product

I got this at sale price, the product is ok at this price point. Faced issues with display driver and logging. Got it exchanged (in 7 days) but the issues persists. I guess Acer has not done any compatibility tests with Windows 10 so there are driver issues which make the screen go blank. Faced no logging issue so far (7 day use with replaced laptop). However I am getting some alien language when I open "Quick Access" for easier access to my files. Sound quality is good though.

Okay laptop - Would not recommend

Got this laptop for on sale for ${price} and I was nervous opening it, thinking I would not like it (I moved from a 14" to 15.6" screen). Acer being a Taiwan company makes their laptops from plastic and their track pad isn't the best. My last acer had broken pieces inside the fan and made a loud helicopter noise. Lastly, I got this computer for A) school and B) play some cs:go. The battery life is not the best and the time to charge the laptop is even worse (takes around 2+ hours to fully charge it). The sales rep told me with the 6th generation I would be able to run cs:go just fine as the game isn't too heavy on the system. Unfortunately, that is not the case this laptop is on the border line of 30 fps (frames per second) and it dips below that often. To get a sense of this, it is recommended to play this game at 60+ fps. Sadly, it is too late for me to return this product, therefore I would not recommend this laptop to anyone, sorry.

Great deal

The relationship between the price and product quality for this laptop is really strong. Great deal.

Excellent budget laptop

Bought this model to replace a 8 yr old laptop. Still need to get used to touchpad but I think it's a matter of habit rather than design flaw. For older people like me a larger screen is more favorable than higher pixel density so this laptop fits well. As pleasant surprise I found memory speed is 1600MHz, not 1066MHz as posted on web site. After replacing HDD with SSD boot time is reduced by at least 50% so it's highly recommended. Taking HDD out requires removing 21 screws. This inconvenience is my only complaint.

Perfect for gaming

This laptop has a powerful core i5 6200U (The newest 6th gen core!!!) and also has a decent graphics card. If you are thinking to use this laptop to game I guess you can play games like minecraft(minecraft you can get like 500FPS) CS:GO, etc. However you won't really get a lot out of "really high DEMANDING" games because you do have to remember this graphics card doesn't really have a dedicated RAM for it. Although this laptop is good, the battery life isn't that long lasting because the powerful core i5 is hungry for your battery. Although this laptop would make a great laptop for you.

Faulty Battery

Good Specs, but cheap plastic body. Built-in battery that stopped working after 2 days.

Good buy, I have several concerns however.

It has now become industry standard in the PC world to A) only provide windows 10 - so if you want to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro it costs extra, or want to have windows 8.1 I don't know what you can do. This laptop only included windows 10 home, and I need Pro version but did not want to upgrade for the outrageous cost from Microsoft. B) Laptop batteries are now fully integrated, so if the battery fails or conks out then you have no choice but to send it to the manufacture for repairs. This is annoying and unnecessary because with my old laptop I had to replace the battery once for a failed cell, and it was a simple swap in/swap out after purchasing a replacement online. This is clearly an attempt by the manufacturer to incur more revenue from the consumer later on. C) The trackpad was slow and unresponsive. I could not get used to it. Overall, not too bad (great keyboard, good battery life). I did have a problem when plugging it into my tv through the hdmi cable. when I closed the lid, it would distort the picture on the tv, so I had to leave the laptop lid open when watching a movie on the tv screen. Annoying, and perhaps has more to do with the graphics card.

Merci.

Great buy for these specs

This laptop has all the latest technology including Intel's 6th gen Skylake processor, plus a decent amount of memory and hard drive space. It also has the latest wifi mu-mimo client which will become the industry standard in the future. If you're looking for more of a multimedia/gaming experience (ie sound/video) then you might want to look at something else, but for bottom line speed and efficiency + specs that will still look good even in a few years, this is a great buy.

Excellent performance and value

Let me just start by saying if you are looking for an ultra-portable notebook with 9+ hours of battery life to browse the web in your favorite coffee shop, look elsewhere ;) But if you are looking for serious PC performance in a portable package that you don't have to take a small loan out for, this just might fit the bill! I use it as a portable DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) for recording and mixing music on the go. The i5-6200U processor is power hungry (I get about 4hours battery life, max), but allows me to work with an impressive number of tracks at very low latencies without a hiccup. I have not been able to find an equivalent laptop even close to the price for the Aspire e15. Note that while it is fast and powerful, it lacks an advanced graphics chip for serious gaming, but that's not what I bought it for. It can keep up with moderate gaming, but not the latest, most power hungry titles. There is an Aspire e17 with an NVidia GeForce chip available for under $1000 that would make an excellent budget gaming laptop, if that's more what you need, though. The model e15 I got has the touch screen and the backlit keyboard, which are both awesome nice-to-have additions for me. I was a bit wary buying an Acer - I've had quite a few laptops but this is my first Acer. I was pleasantly surprised that this did not come pre-installed with a lot of bundled software I didn't want. There were 2 or 3 applications that I decided to remove, out of the box, and they uninstalled quickly and flawlessly. I have had absolutely no issues with this machine at all, and it has completely exceeded my expectations.
