Would recommend

Compact form-factor with 5 UPS surge protected + 2 non-UPS surge protected + 1 1.5V USB charging port. Good instructions. Easy to set up, only have to connect battery which is unconnected for shipping. Runs cool and silently. Shipped promptly by Best Buy and packed well. Would recommend for home or small office set-ups to give you time to save work and properly shut systems down during a power outage.

Great update on a classic

The new form factor is much more compact than the old one, which makes it much easier to stow away. Works great and keeps all the devices running in the event of a power loss. Works as a UPS should.

Bad Luck or Bad Product?

I purchased two of these within ten days. The first failed after just one week of use in a home environment, the second lasted three weeks before suffering a similar but not identical fate. According to the user's manual and the included software, a bad battery appears to have been the culprit in the first instance. I have not determined what caused the second unit to fail but needless to say I wasn't too eager to find out! I just know it stopped functioning properly. In both cases the alarm was tripped and would not reset without powering the UPS off. Once the power was cycled back on, the alarm would trip within a few seconds. I have returned the second faulty unit and purchased a different APC model. Should that one not work out I will definitely be looking at a different manufacturer. I did like the compact size of this model and the fact that it has seven outlets including two that are spaced in such a way that large AC adapters can be plugged in without making the adjacent outlets inaccessible.

Simple and solid

Decent little UPS with excellent battery capacity for the price. I downloaded and installed PowerChute, the management software, on my Windows 10 system and was able to mute the alarm and configure the UPS to cleanly shut down the computer and the UPS itself when on battery power and when there was less than 5 minutes of reserve power. It kicks in flawlessly when power levels fluctuate, and, of course, power drops out completely. The unit comes with a nice, long USB cable which connects your computer to the UPS itself to define and control the power management features I mentioned above.

Nice design 5 stars!

I have owned a few different back-up units. I really like the new design. Tall and narrow makes it easier to place and USB support is a nice touch. 5 stars! Form would not let me make 5 stars.

Basically a souped-up version of the BGE90M, with some caveats.

This unit uses practically the same battery as the BGE90M but has much higher quiescent battery draw, which means you aren't going to get as much battery time under light loads. If you are buying this as a backup power source for your moderm, router, telephony adapter and other small devices, the BGE90M is a more efficient choice. The USB charging port on my unit had about 200mVpp of ripple on it, which is an order of magnitude worse than the BGE90M's. If you need USB charging ports, that's one area where the BGE90M is clearly superior. If you need grounded outlets, a USB port for monitoring, more outlets without getting creative or more than 125VA though, the BN650M1 got that covered.
