Extremely Good Computer

I got this laptop awhile ago, and wrote a review then, but now I am going to write an in depth review for those that are wondering whether or not they should buy it. If you have never owned a Mac before, the prospect of moving to a new operating system can be quite daunting. You really don't know what to expect, and you are not sure if it will suit your needs. But I am telling you, the switch is well worth it! OS X, soon to be macOS, runs very well. It is very clean and crisp in comparison to Windows 10. As you may expect, Apple and Microsoft copy off of each other a lot! For example - in Windows 10 they just added more desktops, like virtual monitors. Apple had this feature before them. Apple added side-by-side applications in Yosemite I believe, which Microsoft has had since Windows 7. So if there is one important feature of Windows you love, chances is they copied it off of Apple or Apple copied it off them, so It will have it. For those that like security - Apple's operating systems are the most secure in the world. There has NEVER been widespread viruses on the Mac operating systems. I myself have never gotten viruses on my Air, and I don't recommend spending money on an antivirus software, get a free one like AVG, or none at all. The hardware - This is where it all comes down to. What do you use your computer for? If you use it for light gaming, photo editing, graphic design, web browsing, software development, and anything in between, this computer is for you. In fact, the MacBook Air is the most recommended laptop for graphic design in universities. Do not buy this computer if you intend on playing graphics-demanding games, or doing lots of video editing. It does come with 8 GB of RAM now, which is better, but not best. It has a Dual-Core i5, plenty enough processing power to complete the tasks listed above. It has an integrated Intel HD graphics 6000, which isn't as good as say the NVIDEA GeForce series, but one of the best integrated graphics. Not good for games, but again, good for the tasks above and light gaming. It has a Solid State Drive - the newest storage technology. It is 22x faster than a normal Hard Drive. And, since it has no moving parts, it is a lot harder to damage if the computer falls or if you store your computer at an angle. It is also an extremely sleekly designed computer. It has the most responsive multi-touch trackpad in the world, backlit keyboard (seems to be standard now), and a very thin body. Software - Includes these three programs called Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. These are the equivalent of Microsofts Office Home and Student, which, by the way, costs $150. Take $150 away from this computer's price. It also comes with applications such as iMovie (make your own movies), and GarageBand (make your own music). I recommend deleting these if you don't use them - they take up lots of space. It also comes with lots of Utility applications to get you started, and of course there is the Mac App Store for other free apps. You can also download Steam to play some games too. The last remaining factor for most of you is the price. Now if you are deciding between this laptop and one $300 or less cheaper, keep in mind that a Windows computer adds $150 for Microsoft Office. And this computer occasionally (once every four months or less, I'd say) goes on sale for $[price] off. Now you are comparing it to 900$ Windows computers. To sum it up - This computer is amazing. It has everything needed for daily use and light gaming/video editing. It looks awesome, and is very portable.
