Customized into an Ultrabook.

I've had this for 6 months now, as soon as I bought I installed a SSD, easy to remove existing once you know about the 2 screws under the rubber feet. I had an external DVD Drive and a Windows 8 install Disc for a fresh install, as to remove ASUS Partitions and Bloatware, Windows 8 Product Key is imbedded so you don't have to enter it or registry it, all automatic. External DVD Drives are pretty cheap, handy if you for use Netbooks and Ultrabooks, there is no recovery software to make Discs, but if you can find a copy of an OEM or Retail Windows 8 Install Disc you are set.

Sent it back

This notebook would not do what I needed. It would not let me import contacts from a second gmail account. It allowed me to install my printer but would not let me bring it on-line. Therefore I could not print from it. The print app announced it did not print. This may a good computer for people who want to social network. I am a private person and do not want any of that. I was very frustrated trying to use this computer because it was loaded with functionality which was useless to me, and did not have basic functionality. It was unfriendly to use. I took it back after trying for 5 days to adapt it to my requirements.

Great computer for the price

Surprisingly good computer and fast eventhough one would think otherwise just by looking at the CPU specs. Great touchscreen, trackpad should be more recessed, as it stands it is all too easy for the palms to inadvertently move the cursor even with the palm detection on. Keyboard is well spaced and easier to use than others. Weight is OK and battery life is OK but not outstanding. Too bad is ships with what is probably one of the milestone worst operating systems since the start of personal computers. All in all a great product from what is turning out to be a solid computer manufacturer.

Light and convenient.

Very light and convenient to use. The keys are spaced just enough for my big finger tips.

great computer for the price

We initially purchased this computer and had to return it because the battery wouldn't charge but our second purchase was a charm. The computer is quick and responsive and has a lot more memory than many of the tablets in this category.

All the features I wanted and caught it when on sale. Very happy to get Touch. I was nervous about the CPU, but I'm quite surprised with the performance. It took me awhile to figure out the Bios settings so I could boot from USB. (Needed a firmware update too.)

Great little road warrior!

Purchased to replace my 4+ year old Acer Netbook. (still running fine BTW) Just right price at the right time. Very nice machine that runs quick and plenty of space for all my biz software etc. For a normal or small biz user should do all you need and more. Looks great, solid feel with a good touch screen for new Win 8. Networking was a breeze as setup finds everything! Even my daughters new TV. Especially like the bold bright keyboard that's easy to see and not cluttered with too much multi-lingual nonsense. Would highly recommend it!

ASUS VivoBook

Great little laptop. My only issue is that I sometimes want to connect it to an external monitor. When doing so, I must change the behaviour when the lid is closed (so that I can close the lid and still view my work on the external monitor). When I do this, I lose the touch screen functionality. So when I disconnect it from the external monitor, I must reset that setting before I can restore the touch screen functionality. Now that I know this though, it is not such a big deal.

my experience

this product is very light weight however it's only been the first month within receiving this product and i've already encountered a few problems. the touch screen is great but the scrolling on the mouse often doesn't work, I even had problems with the mouse freezing on me once. The laptop also froze on me a few time in the beginning but the performance has gotten better. I use this laptop all the time for my lecture notes and another great thing is that you can hook it up to a monitor if you need to see you work on a bigger screen. All in all I enjoy this product but obviously I could do without the glitches

So far so good. Touch screen eliminates need for a mouse. I like the comfort of using it much better than my Android tablet. Gets very hot underneath. No USB charger, only wall plug. Doesn't come with Office.

Great, cheap entry to wacky world of Win8

I'm very happy with it, overall! Battery life is terrible, gets very hot quickly, feels very cheap, has annoying keyboard elements. But all of these things I'll get used to, and accomodate. Since I only paid [price], I feel it's a steal. Paid more than double for the iPad 2, and this feels like it weighs about the same, but has the attached keyboard. Touchscreen is good, but the thing I don't like about this really has to do with the scarcity of free "metro" apps for Win8 -- particularly there is no touch-optimized word processor, and the only semi optimized browser is IE. Tried Mozilla Aurora, but it had no touch-oriented interface differences from FireFox that I could see. But if it lasts (only had it a few weeks), I'll be delighted for the price, and would highly recommend it -- considering that it's a ready-to-go Windows with Intel Pentium processor, decent ram and hard-disk for $300. That's OK by me!

Touch screen is responsive and the machine runs fast enough for daily use, but battery life is ridiculously poor and Windows 8 should be shoved down into the nearest oubliette.

Not too shabby!

Not a bad little lap top for basic use. Even Windows 8 isn't as bad as I thought. Touch pad gets inadvertently activated when typing.

vivobook x200ca

I bought this neat mini laptop to test out win 8 with touchscreen. So far not dissapointed, learning windows 8 and using the touchscreen pros:quick at tasks quick bootup 500gb storage is adequate cons: slightly heavy, small screen size resolution 1366 by 768 for my needs it is pretty good

Good sale price and very portable computer

I got this computer on sale price. I think it's very good deal. You can carry the computer anywhere with one hand. it's faster than surface but still has a touch screen. I give it five starts for this price.

Asus Vivobook

I bought this for my daughter as a birhtday present. I guess as the ultimate complement, I have heard no complaints what so ever. She seems happy to have it and uses it for school and music. I have seen a few games on it but not extreme gamer games. So far so good, ask me again in a year.

ASUS VivoBook

The laptop is great value for its price. Screen resolution is good, touchscreen is responsive and processing speed is good. The battery life is okay at 2.5 hours and the left side of the computer does get warm quickly as other reviewers have noted but these weren't dealbreakers for me. Is it a perfect laptop? No. Is it a great complimentary laptop to your main laptop or iPad/Android tablet? Absolutely.

Good Deal - Almost Feels Like an Ultrabook

Got this as a second lightweight portable laptop to supplement my 17" desktop replacement version. At the moment, BB's Future Shop has this on for a $110 more than BB so at $340, with a dual core Intel CPU, a bright touchscreen, 4GB ram, 500GB HD, webcam, WIFI, 64-bit Windows 8 with free-upgrade to 8.1 available, it can almost pass as a super duper deal lightweight ultrabook with it's 11.6" screen and 2.6lb. weight. Downside is a shorter battery charge and basically a case not meant to be opened, so a sealed battery - like most ultrabooks. Ram is apparently also soldered to the MB and not upgradeable but there are screws on bottom of case so I'm not sure if HD can be readily removed and replaced if needed. The drive is a standard issue 5400 rpm Seagate which is not highly rated for duration so changing the HD in the future might be a necessity eventually. Final, Asus's Instant On feature is absolutely great - recovers from sleep in a few seconds. Can't go wrong with the price.

great little baby computer

This is the best lap top I have had so far. Although, I never had anything expensive (my two previous laptops were both Toshiba's and both times I bought them on clearance). This little Asus is very fast and very neat to work with. I do object the battery life though: it is very, very short!- 2 hours or something? I will actually go looking into buying an extra battery that I could take along and switch it around with the one that depletes? Or I don't know what else to do? It is a big issue, but since I am a "poor student" I can't complain - I simply have to wait to get a job one day and then buy an Apple which I heard has a 12 hr battery life!?

over all good

I like the many features but if the computer is dead I can't use any of them! But the touch screen is great (but sometimes doesn't work, if this happens restart it using the mouse). The sleep mode takes awhile to go to sleep. when using the key board on the touch screen the track pad will click and it will take you to start and to previous apps. The apps run quickly and smoothly I like the amount of ram on it. the size is great. like I said the battery life is not good 2-3:30 hr max. the Download and internet surfing speed is amazing. it stays cool with surfing the internet and small apps but gets hot when playing games like simulation games. Now the out side the HDMI port is great and the ease to change between screens. the monitor port is great. the usb port 2.0 and 3.0 are great and I can't tell the difference (other than the color). the microphone jack is great with a Ethernet port if your wifi is slow you can plug your computer into the internet. it takes 1 hour to charge the battery if the computer is shut down but Forever to charge if it is even if it is asleep. the start up time is awesome! The windows app store does not have many apps still and I hope that will change soon. Now this PC does not come with office so you have to buy it but it does have a 30 day free trial. so over all ASUS did a good job with this laptop now a few improvements I would make: Better battery life smaller track pad faster charger I will enjoy using this laptop, I recommend this laptop to everyone.
