Works, but painfully slow

It's a great size for travel and does far more than any tablet, has great battery life, but it's so painfully slow that it's almost unusable. It's ok if you don't try to do more than one light task at a time and have lots of time to wait for things to finish.

Good laptop for school work and internet browsing

This is a great laptop for browsing, using youtube and doing school work. This laptop is definitely not suited for gaming, Adobe Photoshop, video editing or heavy multi-tasking. Keep note that once you update the laptop and install Windows 8.1, the laptop runs a lot more smoothly and faster. Battery is goos for about 4.5 hours.

S ... L ... O ... W ... !!!

Oh ... my ... goodness. This ... is ... the ... slowest ... computer .... I've ... ever ... used ....! It runs worse than my 10 year old Pentium 4 laptop, and I've only had it for a week. I'm trying to keep software installation to a minimum. I'm not trying to do major multitasking or anything. Just any action that requires hard drive access takes at least a full minute ... or two ... or five. I'm returning this tortoise today. If you don't care about mind-numbingly slow performance, this is a fine machine with good build quality and features like USB 3.0, HDMI, and a sleek, compact form factor. The touch screen works nicely (as long as the hard drive isn't busy at the time). Too bad... this could have been a nice little machine for the kids.

Almost Handy as Tablet

Originally I was looking for good Windows tablet with reasonable price, I ended up buying this light weight, kind of cute, almost look like netbook, laptop PC.(note: No Bluetooth, No Harddisk LED Indicator.) It has nice/designed well shape so that it is easy to carry. At the first, it appears to take forever to update Windows 8, but once it settled down to Windows 8.1, works great. (Except Touch screen stop working after wake up from sleep, but easy to change the setting to solve this issue from device manager) Then I replaced existing harddisk with SSD (three obvious screw, two hidden under the rubber foot, and finally one screw is hidden beneath the label, so it will void warranty for sure), but boy, it works almost good as mid range tablet. (yes, it is a little bit heavier than tablet PC, but with keyboard, touchpad and all kind of connectivity) I think this is really good to buy. Office 2013 works great with touch screen as well.

very nice

device is used for facebooking and a little bit of play during the days and primarily hooked to TV and external 500GB hard drive to watch digital movies and tv show downloads... and netflix. 3 year old "step" grand daughter loves setting it on her laps to watch her favorite animated movies. though it is a bit small for "work" purposes it is more than adequate for what they need it for and they are VEY satisfied.

Totally cute!

Just got it and installed all I needed. Only thing, it was a bit slow at first start up, but went pretty good after setup. Included with the Asus, card with the Key is provided for Home/Student Office suite. It always depend on what you need, but for me it is totally perfect. Value/price is great
