Not great, returned to store

I ordered this laptop on sale, off the Best Buy website. While it is better than my current, ancient laptop, it is not worth the money and I am returning it. I find the screen resolution is not of very great quality. Although the speakers are fairly decent, they have made quite a few crackling sounds, even though I have never turned the volume up passed 75%. The track pad is rough to use, and the right & left clickers are very stiff, actually hurting my fingers from having to click so hard. It is nowhere near as fast as I imagined it would be either. The positives: tt is fairly light, the battery is decent enough I suppose, it appears to be built physically strong. I consider these of average standard, though.

Eh...

I needed a simple laptop for school and I figured this would be a good one. Unfortunately, it only worked for a week or so. After it updated, it just stopped working.

Cheap build

Pros: - OK performance Cons: - Extremely cheap plastic build. The surface in the middle of the keyboard wobbles when typing. The plastic surrounding the screen can easily bend outward when pulled or any dirt can easily lodge in there.

OK, but...

The fair value of this laptop is about $[..]. I bought it for $[...], and found out that the performance lacked. So, I returned it. As there are 15.6" Toshiba, DELL and ASUS laptops with i5-4200U or I5-4210U and 8GBRAM and DVD drives that sell for $[...] to $[..]. Apart from being pricy for it's performance, I had no other issues. ASUS is a good manufacturer. I only have had problems with ACER, Gateway, Compaq and HP computer. And not much issues with Toshiba, Dell and ASUS.

Do not buy this or any Windows 8 product

Wasted two days of my life trying to get Windows 8 to update - there were over 100 updates that needed to be done out of the box. Seems like Microsoft is determined to drive people into the arms of Apple. Worst experience with a computer I've ever had.

Returened

At the begining it was okay, except windows 8.... The hardware start to make noice occasionally the second week, not the cooling fan, the cooling is great. Then the system crashed once on friday and two times on sunday before I had return it to bestbuy. It's a " 0" star item, but I give 5 stars to bestbuy's easy return policy.

Feels extremely cheap

Pros: - OK performance - Aesthetically nice Cons: - Extremely cheap plastic build compared to other brands - Weak battery life (Lasts about 2h) - Asus doesn't include the Windows product key in the packaging - Not wired mouse-friendly with all the USB ports on the left side

No Camera Cards

I ordered this product online and as soon as I opened the box I noticed that there is no spot for sim or camera cards. This is the first lap top that I seen in a long time that doesn't take them. I shipped it back the same day. I a digital world that we live in this should be standard.

Pretty Good Value

Bought this on line. Poorly packaged though. Box inside a box with not enough padding. Battery life is not as long as advertised and of course Windows 8 sucks. But overall a pretty good value.

Tech Savvy only

Bought this computer because support for XP was ending. Paid extra and bought the version with the optical drive for CD/DVD and the sound quality is quite poor. Sounds very tinny and squeezed. Visually the images are crisp and clean, but there is a bit of glare on the screen. Flat keyboard also takes a while to get used to. Comes with Windows 8 which is difficult to navigate and the cursor jumps around a lot without explanation. Not very user friendly at all, like XP, which is nicely laid out and easy to navigate. If you're tech savvy you'll probably be ok.

Great laptop

I bought it a month ago and so far very happy with it. Very fast, great keyboard, battery lasts for 5 hours (I surf inet, type documents, use excel), not heavy compared to other comps of this size.

MY NEW LAPTOP

The laptop is fine. But since the day I bought it ,the power has only lasted half an hour without having to be recharged. This is not good enough. I could be on a plane for 4-5 hours and I expect my computer to be useable enough for most of the trip. Only bought a laptop instead of desktop so it was portable!

Good Laptop

I purchased this laptop for my wife. She uses it for e-mails, surfing the net and playing internet games(bingo, word games etc:). The computer comes installed with Windows 8 which I immediately upgraded to 8.1. So far we are extremely happy with it's performance.

Bought one. Hated OS... Battery is non-user replaceable. Mine crapped out on FIRST CHARGE after less than 2 hours. Nice keyboard, but unit is super slow. HD is pre-partitioned...why?.... All in all a cheap and disappointing purchase. Returned it within 24 hours

Great Little Lap Top

I bought my laptop mostly to use Word and to check emails / use the internet, so I am not the best reviewer if you want to use this computer for gaming or downloading. I really love it for what I use it for...the internet easily opens multiple pages and keeps them open for easy access between different pages. The laptop boots up quickly and is light weight and the battery has a long life. I am still getting used to Windows 8, but that is not reflective of the laptop. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to other users.

Wifi is bad

My main gripe is that Wifi adapter on this thing just refuses to connect to my N network. I have not encountered that with any other device: all kinds of laptops, tablets, phones and a smart tv work just fine. This is a problematic adapter, I had same issues with other laptops that come with it. Other than that, it's an ok laptop. Flimsy and plasticy, but that's what you get for so little money. Anyway, I returned it due to the wifi issue and will probably stick with more expensive laptops. Just too many issues with sub-1000$ ones I tried during this and last year.

Great Laptop, Just not from Best Buy

I bought this laptop to use while my regular computer is out for repairs and I can't complain. It does all of the basics very well, although I wish it came with a copy of even basic Microsoft Word. I personally dislike Windows 8, but it works well and ASUS has done a good job of integrating their components with the operating system in such a way that it works seamlessly. I only have two complaints. The first is that the hard drive comes pre-segregated into two separate partitions, which I hate. My second complaint is that I bought this from Best Buy. They promise one day shipping which actually took a full week. It also was [...] cheaper when I bought it, so there is that.

Good for the price

This is a good buy if it is on sale. The casing is plastic but screen is good quality and the sound is great. Boots windows fast and does not get hot after extended period of usage. The only thing I don't like is that it does not have removable external battery.

Great Value

This laptop is an excellent deal for the money. It is very quiet and it is very fast. The battery life is not 5 hours but is not bad at a little over 3 hours. Windows 8 is not as bad as everyone says once you get used to it. It is actually very neat in some ways. Overall, it is a great deal.

Not completely happy

I LIKE THE COMPUTER BUT I WISH I HAD MY wINDOW 7 BACK! I HAVE A HARD TIME WITH SENSITIVITY ON USING wINDOWS 8 - (see what I mean?) I didn't even realize I put the cap on! I also have a hard time placing the curser on anything because it is always jumping off! Also - I may be working on FB and my screen grows bigger and bigger! Scrabble too! I am hoping to get use to this - BTW, I LOVE my Skype - my camera works GREAT! My other computer camera didn't.

Great Budget Laptop

We purchased this laptop during the Boxing Day sale and it's a great laptop for the price. It starts up quickly, connected easily to our network and air printer, so if you want a secondary machine for web browsing, email, Netflix, this is a decent computer; not a big fan of Windows 8 though.

Good price on Asus Laptop but only has 2 USB ports

My Asus laptop only has two USB ports. I'm using one for a wireless mouse and the other for printer, so every time I need to plug USB in, I have to unplug something. And then when I put the old thing back. The overall is ok and the weight of the laptop is really light.

It's OK

Fairly basic laptop. Boots up quickly and functions exactly as it should. I'm not thrilled with Windows 8, but that's not an Asus issue. Only real concern is the battery life is remarkably short. I don't plan on using without being plugged in for the most part, but the few times I do go mobile with it I get precious little time before the battery conks out. For basic home use though this is a decent laptop, particularly when considering the low price I paid.

Great laptop for the price, so far...

This laptops runs great for the value....no complaints, except for the audio software it comes with and the fact that the battery doesn't appear to be accessible the way most laptop batteries are. This might be an issue if the battery significantly loses capacity after the warranty is over...not as simple as buying a new battery and popping it in. Aside from that, it is great!! Totally recommended.
