Great computer

I bought this laptop with photo editing in mind. The image quality of the 4K screen is amazing and the large SSD drive make this machine faster and a joy to use. I don't give it a 5 star rating because, in my mind, a laptop of this price should come with a backlit keyboard and a sound system with more bass, like my ASUS N56VZ.

Great computer but backlit keyboard should have used black keys

Love the computer - large SSD, i7 processor, lots of ram, great screen resolution, touch screen, low weight, silver aluminum case . . . Two shortcomings: 1. poor speakers but this can be overcome with a BT speaker, and 2. ASUS used silver keys for backlit keys - black keys with backlit works much better for all conditions, day and night. One has to turn backlit keys off during the day in order to see letters & numbers.

Real nice rig

This is hands down the best PC laptop I've ever used. I like it better than the Macbook I had. High quality feel, amazing display and actually useful touch pad make it excel.

great hardware in a really good looking package

this thing is a beast...took everything I threw at it ...high demand games, video editing, more tabs open in chrome than anyone should have...never a stutter. I would only warn those who are considering it that is it large and on the heavy side...i was looking for something more portable and this fit everything I was looking for minus the portability.

Specs are awsome 4K display a problem

I bought this laptop and love it. The only problem is the 4K display is causing problems with a lot of programs I use and therefore it makes the laptop unusable for my data-to-day. I have tried everything to correct the problem but the windows scaling does not seem to alleviate the issues.

Great Laptop, one flaw

As far as performance, this is an incredible laptop. For video encoding it is great. For light gaming, it is more than sufficient, though it will get hot (like any laptop chassis not built with gaming air circulation in mind). 512 SSD is great, as this is seen through start up times. I'm able to do light gaming through WiFi and have not had any connectivity issues. The flaw? The feature you may be looking at this laptop for, it's screen. 4k resolution is not ready yet for Windows, as scaling with a wide array of software is terrible (though this isn't really Windows' fault as much as it is the software companies). The colours and contrast are horrendous. Take a lot at the screen, even after calibration, then walk by a MacBook Pro, or any OLED screen you will feel cheated. If you are not buying this computer for graphic design or multimedia accuracy, you will love this machine.

Amazing Laptop

The good: -By far one of the most powerful machines I have ever owned. The 512 GB SSD is super quick. Video card performance is great for 3d rendering. Processor is very quick for encoding HD video. -Some people have complained about the keyboard being too stiff, but I feel that it is just right. They keys feel like they have a substance to them, and they are backlit which is a great feature. -The look is super stylish, especially the top of the lid. I have not felt excessive heat from intensive tasks (mind you, this is a laptop, of course there will be heat when the processor is doing crazy work). -This is a US Keyboard Layout! And not a crappy Bilingual keyboard layout with modified SHIFT keys and ENTER key. No offense towards those that needs a bilingual keyboard, but they are just annoying to type on if you don't need the French capability The bad: Speakers are terrible. I don't really care that much since I have it hooked up to a set of speakers most of the time, but if listening to music and watching movies is a big thing for you, you will be disappointed. While the 4k is great, some programs don't scale well. Mind you this is not Asus' fault, nor Windows', but the creators of these third party programs. I'm sure with time, this will be fixed. If you care about colour accuracy, you will not be happy with factory settings. I'm coming from a Sony screen where a black looked like a true black, but these blacks on this laptops look washed out and more like super dark greys. You will most likely have to adjust the colours if you are a graphic designer or illustrator (as this is a strength that the Macbook Pro has over this machine). Overall, this is a great machine, and has a very solid build. If you can get over the few minor issues, it is a great machine for this price point!

Powerful computer, consistently defective display.

Went through three of these - first had dead pixels, the latter two had backlight bleed.
