I've been wearing this watch now for 6 months. I really like it, it just took a little while to get used to the Android Wear software. Sometimes Android Wear is a little bit glitchy, but I don't think that is anything to do with the actual hardware and the watch itself. I've had to perform a factory reset a couple times because it didn't reconnect with my Note 4 for some reason, but generally that's not an issue for me since it only takes about 15 minutes and everything just resyncs after a reboot. The factory watch band is very nice, and the Best Buy Blue is a nice blue color that I can't find anywhere else. I also swap out bands for a 22mm black silicone band so i can wear this watch biking to work daily. Love the built in mic and speaker, and bluetooth works great with my Sony bluetooth headphones. I think the only thing on my wish list would be an ambient light sensor, which would come in handy going outside from a dark place. The screen brightness is nice otherwise, its also crisp and vibrant. For the price, this watch has it all!
What I like:
-Can answer phone calls on the watch
-General functionality, including remotely controlling the phone's camera, reading notifications and simple apps
-Lightweight and comfortable
-Able to survive heavy rainfall or a quick shower
-Custom watch faces using the FaceDesigner app
-General aesthetics of the watch, minus the cheap looking crown button
What I dislike:
-Battery life is somewhere between 1 and 1.5 days with light to medium use. Not too bad, but more would be nice.
-Charging time from 30 to 100% is around 90 minutes to 2 hours
-Magnetic "clipping" is a bit on the weak side, meaning that the charger cable is prone to disconnecting accidentally while charging the watch
-Vibrations from notifications may be difficult to notice if not worn tightly enough
-Speaker is a bit quiet for phone calls
The leather straps are stiff, but after about a week of wearing it, this won't be a problem.
This watch is much more suited as a phone companion than a fitness watch, though the presence of a pedometer and fitness apps allows some use as a fitness tracker.
Overall, this is a great value for money smartwatch if you're looking for your first wearable.
Wasn't sure I would find much value in this but am pleasantly surprised. Very nice quality and great feature set. Finding that it keeps me more aware of my schedule and incoming messages than my android phone alone was able to do.
Particularly impressed with "OK Google" functionality which seems a little more natural to use on the watch than it ever has on my phone.
After just a little over a month use on the Asus ZenWatch 2, I LOVE it. It's great for those who want to save time from pulling out your phone, with the bonus of saving some battery life (nice!).
After a somewhat long wait to charge the watch, and install the current firmware available for it, you find yourself with a few preset apps and watch faces to choose from, but fret not - there are tons of choices on Google Play for Android Wear on almost anything! Unfortunately, not everything comes included... To send calls, browse the net, view pictures and documents - you need to buy the premium package version of "Wear" made by appfour, and to send texts I recommend the "TouchOne Keyboard" which all cost about $15. These are all essential, so be prepared to spend a couple of extra bucks with your credit card ready on the Google Play app store. The rest all depends on you, but I spent another $3 for the "Weather Watch Face" which I would recommend. The Android Wear OS is somewhat simple and easy to use, and it makes the watch feel fast and touch screen responsive.
As for its design, it feels premium, and it feels comfortable. It's perfect for many wrist sizes, and there's a lot of adjustments available with the strap, plus they're always interchangeable easily by buying a band from other online retailers, but that all depends on you. However; once again, with greatness comes flaws... I'm personally not a fan of the rounded square design and huge bezels; that and it's bulkiness is not too appealing but it does makes sense because the watch normally lasts about 1 to 1 ½ days, depending on your settings, watch face, and use rate. Also, just a warning... You will get A LOT of people asking you if it's an Apple watch, but just make sure you say "No, I make smart choices with my purchases..."
However, don't get me wrong, this is a fantastic product, it includes so much for $[price], and being my first Smartwatch, this is why I chose it, it's cheaper when compared to other watches, and efficient with the premium look and feel. If you have the extra cash, I'd look into the Huawei Watch found on the Google Store website, but if you're keen on joining the watch world, and you want something more fitting for price, this is the watch for you - just as long as you're fine with the design, bulkiness, and the extra money you have to pay for apps to get basic call and text features.
I really can't wait to grow with this watch for the next couple of years, while the smartwatch world expands with more options. This is what I'd call a bang for the buck deal, so I'd totally recommend it!
I got this watch to companion my Zen phone . It has some very good features , Price is good compared to other brands . It will do fitness things as well . Lots of apps available . If you are considering this watch you will not be disappointed
This phone does pretty much everything. It is more geared as a smart watch and not as much for the fitness but yoh can download fitness apps. It has a mic and a speakerphone so you make/answer calls from it and use voice command to text and email. There are lots of apps available to use youtube, browsers, google, your photo gallery, and tons of face watches to choose from. It vibrates to give you notifications of incoming calls, texts, emails. A lot of reviews say the cons are the face size is big and the battery life is only about a day. I dont mind the size and I am used to charging my phone everyday so no deal to me to charge this too. This is the best phone for the money after I researched for 3 days.
Just had this a few days but I'm already impressed how much it can do: make and receive calls, texts, emails, and use other messaging apps on the phone, remote control the phone camera, start Google Maps navigation, create notes and reminders, and on and on. You can also do quite a lot completely hands free.
I purchased the Asus Zenwatch 2 about ten days ago , i am finally learning to navigate my way through the o/s and i am enjoying it immensely , This smart watch was made for Android , dont buy one and complain that it is not as intuitive with your iphone as you would like .... buy an Apple watch instead , what ? an Apple watch is too pricey ? then why did you buy an iphone ? they are too pricey to .
I have had a very difficult time finding the perfect smart watch to meet my needs.I wanted a watch with long battery life, notifications, sleep tracking and water proof. I tried the Pebble Time (not the steel)which was perfect, but traded that in for Zenwatch 2, which I traded 2 days later for the Garmin Vivoactive. The Garmin was my final choice. With the zenwatch I noticed Wear is very much over rated. there are very few apps at all, it is just a glorified touch screen, pebble & garmin offer the same and more rugged to the outdoor elements. Android Wear still has a long ways to go.
I have used one other smartwatch and seen another two in action in our home. I spent some time on this purchase researching quality, price and satisfaction. It came down to 3 and this one won based on price first, followed by quality and customer satisfaction.
You shouldn't be disappointed with this watch. If you require the heart beat monitor then move on, but otherwise this a great watch! I'm using it with an android smartphone and the two pair up well. The many watch faces make the watch fun while still fitting in on formal evenings. If you want to talk to your hand while making phone calls you can. After two weeks I think I have a handle on this and I love it. I have ambient display ON and I get 1.5 days out of the battery easily.
My only complaint is after a day or two the alerts stop appearing on the watch and I have to reboot the watch and my phone in order to get them back.
Be sure to read the little instruction booklet as you need to instead android wear first, then zenwatch manager. In that exact order.
I recommend it
Bought this watch few days back to pair with the iphone. Pairing went well. Android wear needs to improve a lot. Its still in the early stages. Might not be the case with Android. Battery life is very bad too.
Pebble time is way better on apps and battery life.
So had to return it back and get a pebble time. Lots of apps and the battery life is excellent.
What can I say that hasn't already been said. The stiff band gets better as does the battery life. I love the fact that it is Android wear and that it has a speaker. This watch replaced a Samsung Gear that died on me and I could not be happier with the functionality.
Watch is heavy/bulky
Wrist band is tiny and cheap
The touch UI is not very responsive.
There is no sound
The vibration is super high frequency but light, I can barely feel it.
Battery time is short (1 day)
The cable to charge it is stiff and easily come-off the watch when charging.
Maybe future software update will improve the experience
The good thing is it was cheap.
Enjoy the day with this smartwatch. Amazing battery, nice color and stunning appearance. Quick connection. love it
This is a great watch, it really is ---provided you have an Android Wear phone. I knew going in there would be limitations between iOS and AW but these limits just frustrate you and leave you wanting more that the watch has.
Let me repeat, a great watch -----
This is a great watch, stylish, battery lasts over one day easily and can reach two days if used conservatively. Display looks great and everything works smoothly.
Only thing to note is how we are STILL waiting for android 1.4 wear update which as others have mentioned, will give access to the untapped speaker allowing you to play music/sounds through the watch as well as chatting with someone directly through the watch after answering a call.
Honestly, the next best watch would have to be the huawei watch.....so unless you are willing to dish out $500 ....your most cost effective and full featured bet for getting into wearables is definitely this.
I bought one with the reservation that after a day or two of playing with it i may return it if i didnt like it but thats not the case at all.....everyday i love it more and more and once wear 1.4 is updated i will never want to part with the watch....all in all very happy with my purchase!
I Thought that it was a bit big when I received but after wearing it for a few weeks know it is the right size for viewing the screen and it hasn't got in the way of clothing. Its a great looking watch and changing the faces is great can customize it depending on the occasion. The apps are working well even with an iPhone, I'm looking forward to connect it to an android phone to get more native apps.
Literally bought this watch just to try it out. The price point is what really caught my eye. After using the watch for just a couple weeks I had fallen in love. The watch has so much to offer and then more. Even now after having it for a couple months I am still learning of all the features that it has to offer. What has impressed me the most is the battery life lasting up to 3 days on a single charge. This is something I don't think you will ever see in any other smart watch. The AMOLED screen is really nice to look at as well. You will not be disappointed if you buy this watch. I HIGHLY recommend it!
Really enjoy this with you. Looks great, feels great. With Android wear 1.4 around the corner this watch will one of the best on the market.
This is a great androidwear watch. There are no criticisms here whatsoever. It is responsive, good battery and is ready for the android wear update 1.4 with a currently dormant speaker - a feature that is not present on all but one other device and for hundreds of dollars more. It is a well planned device.
Thought about returning the watch after a few days, but am I glad I didn't. At first , the leather strap was stiff, battery life lasting only a day. After about 5-7 days, the strap started to soften up considerably (making it now comfortable enough to fall asleep in) but the battery life also increased after a few full charge cycles. What an incredible device. A must have for anyone looking for a smartwatch
Zenwatch 2 looks great on my wrist and it works marvelously!
I read on the Internet that in anticipation of a future upgrade by Android Wear that will allow users to access the speaker in their smartwatch, Asus decided to future proof the new ZenWatch 2 by including an internal speaker and a volume output hole in the watch. The watch's speaker will then verbally announce that you just got a notification and the type. You can answer who's calling by speaking in the direction of your ZenWatch. You can say "Call Jim/Susie" without taking out your cellphone.
Marshmellow (Android 6.0) and Android Wear 1.4 firmwear upgrade are expected to be rolled out in the Spring of 2016.
I am really enjoying the looks of this watch over my Sony smart watch 3. It's a great watch and the price is even better. I wish the bezel could be smaller but I can deal with it
It is literally impossible to get replacement chargers for this device in Canada. Asus will not ship to Canada and no re-seller supplies the chargers. If you buy this device make damn well sure you do not lose or break the charger.
I like the size and fit of the watch. I find the pairing with my phone is lost quite frequently. This means I have to go back to factory settings and again pair with my phone. All my history is lost. Very pleased with the battery life, decent pricing, lots of face options. Still learning the watch but like it SO much more than a fitbit.
I wasn't sure what to expect as I have never had a smart watch before and I am very pleased with the Asus ZenWatch2. Set up with my BlackBerry Priv was seamless and everything worked perfectly out of the box. It automatically updated everything without prompting and I was in business within minutes. Excellent fit and finish. Pleased with the software except for some reason some of the Asus apps aren't available in Canada. Weird.
Overall excellent product!
I've had it for a couple months and have been more than happy with it.
I use it while mountain biking and couldn't justify the extreme prices of the other brands considering it might get knocked around a little. Even though I was just planning on wearing it while riding, I like it so much that I wear it everywhere now.
Only things that are missing over other watches is the wireless charging and a heart rate monitor which are both overrated features. I'll take half the price over those any day.
The only thing I did was swap out the horrible wristband for a standard 22mm one of my choosing.
Looks like a real watch, it is beautiful and fast.
It's been 3 days and have not lost connection with phone yet. The strap is cheap, very thin but looks ok. For the price you can't beat it. I bought the Moto 360 2nd gen but returned it before opening the box. Way too much money for a watch which will be obsolete in 2 years if not sooner. I really wanted the Gear S2 but was always sold out until I bought his one. Now it's in stock. Go figure. I do not regret my purchase. This watch is $150 in the USA. Now that is a really easy decision. Bottom line is this is worth the price being sold for here at Best Buy. Buy it and have fun.
This is my second Smartwatch and the technology has significantly improved. I do have a collection of higher end watches so I'm pretty particular with what I put on my wrist. For a wearable Smartwatch it actually looks good with a variety of faces that you can customize for your personal preferences. The watch is light and comfortable to wear. With regards to the functionality of the watch it gives you everything you need and more. The purpose of a smart wear watch is to keep you informed at a glance and eliminate the need to keep pulling out your mobile phone. It does this very well. It does take a little time to set it up put you don't need to be a tech expert. When you compare it to more expensive competitors, it holds its own very well. Battery life is good for almost 2 days (depending on use). All in all a good looking and functional watch that you will actually wear.
I'm a smart watch lover! I tried different smart watches but this one so far does everything that the other watches does but for the low price. why should we pay more when we can get the same features and beautiful look fo reasnble price.
Build quality of the watch is good. Apps for the watch is limited but it is in general for all Android wear. Most of the notifications on my phone come through to my watch. I can see email messages, send Hangout messages without using my phone. I can use the watch to request driving direction and it worked well.
I've been in the market searching for a suitable Android wear watch but wasn't willing to shell out [price] or more for it. After buying this on boxing day it was well worth the wait. I've been playing with it non-stop and the battery life is holding up strong. After a day & 1/2 I still had 37% the next morning. Again HEAVY usage! If your looking to enter the wearable market and don't want to break the bank this is the device for you.
dont pay for High end watch super crazy expansive ... this watch does it all for much lower price lol ... battery life for me was more than 3 days when you turn off always screen ON .... first couple charges was horrible but it get much better after 3-4 charges .... dont think too much .. just get it .. you wont regreat it ...
This is my first Android wear watch having been a Pebble user before. My major concern would have been battery life and I have to say that the battery life is pretty good. I use the always on feature and from the time I leave for work (7AM) to the time I go to bed (11 PM), battery use ends up averaging 40%.
The watch looks and feels premium and the build quality is very good. The interface is also pretty simple to navigate and the notifications reliably come through.
Definitely pleased with this purchase!
very good watch and price.
I have wanted a Smartwatch since the Pebble first came on the scene but couldn't justify one that did all that I wanted for a price I could justify. Then the Asus Zenwatch 2 became available at Best Buy. Bought it the first week it was available. I have had it for two weeks and I love it.
It does not have a camera or a speaker but I am fine with that. I can easily use voice commands to dictate alarms, texts and notes. I can control my music which was a huge thing for me. Android wear is great. I read elsewhere there were problems using this watch with a Note 4. However I have had no problems.
I get 3-4 days on the battery with at least 35% left. So Asus claims on battery life are good with my usage. I do turn if off at night. It doesn't track sleep (the next version of Google Fit will allow the watch to do it, but it isn't out yet). You will get less days if you keep it on all night, but in total I am getting a good 50-65 hours out of the battery. It charges in an hour.
I have a large wrist and I found the band a little snug but got used to it. It uses standard 22mm straps so I might just get a larger strap later.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with this watch. The only thing I haven't been able to find is a screen protector but so far it is pretty scratch resistant.
I am a wearable geek who has tried numerous smart watches including moto, pebble classic n time, mykronz and apple watch, etc
I must say that i am plesantly surprised by the built quality of the watch, with the exception of the plastic back cover. The screen is beautifully made, great colours even in the lowest light setting. The size of the watch face looks large initially, but after a while you get used to it and wont notice it anymore. The bezel is still a bit too big but I guess you need to sacrifice some real estate for the screen to look sharp. The processor works fine, but can also be faster but in general not much lag when you move from one screen to another. The battery life is decent, I manage to get close to 48 hours by leaving it with always on mode though at the lowest lighting level which is perfectly fine for me. The preloaded watch faces are pretty good too athough the do it yourself face maker is kind of useless with little options. One thing i have not tried is whether there is an option that will allow me to set up a std email reply, the pebble watch does have this neat feature. All in all, this is a great watch with the low price point, it can definitely do better with more apps available as in Pebble. I definitely recommend this watch
Love this watch. Attractive and comfortable to wear all day. Does everything you'd want a smartwatch to do. You can't beat the price, as it does everything other android wear watches do. Battery life is amazing, but be patient, as it takes a few cycles of charging for you to get the true longevity in battery life. Would definitely recommend it.
I got so lucky and picked it up in Ottawa Dec. 5 during a one-day sale. Drove from Montreal since for some strange reason the watch will not be sold in Quebec.
Many reviews say the large bezel around the screen is a deal-breaker, but I got used to its presence after an hour. I find the watch very comfortable on my small wrists. It's such a pretty watch I can't stop staring at it.
I've already installed a launcher for the interface, a calculator, custom watch faces. Syncs perfectly with Google Calendar, Gmail, and all phone notifications.
I'm honestly happier than I could've ever imagined. Now I just need to find a screen protector.
Does everything simple and with ease 123 set up
Recomend as #1 smartch watch.
Its sharp classy and pratical
Satisfied 100% worth the price in my oppinion could charge even more.
For the price (compared to other wearables) this is a great bargain.
Good looking watch. Some people may be turned off by the "square" design of the watch, but ASUS does a good job of stylzing the edges and making it look more 'fashionable' than the LG G watch for example. Doesn't look out of place with most outfits as it blends the Geeky Tech look with elements of fashion
Doesn't feel flimsy. Watch is claimed to be maid of stainless steel; doesn't have the heft of other android wear watches, but doesn't look or feel cheap either
Decent. Colours are bright and saturated. Blacks are deep (thanks to AMOLED) Resolution clocks in at nearly 280ppi which is on the higher end for most Android wear devices. Though I believe ASUS skimped on screen quality as there is a pixelated element to this display - more so than what I've seen on lower resolution screens. It doesn't blow me away, and obviously doesn't compare to the quality we're spoiled with on our mobile phones.
This ones a bit of a dissapointment. The internals for this watch are the same as almost all other devices. Snapdragon 400. 512mb of RAM. 4gb internal memory. Yet this seems to lag and/or stutter a bit. It may be an issue with the software more than internals, but i haven't noticed this type of stutter on other Android Wears (except for the terrible Moto 360 1st gen).
All in all - for the comparative value - this is a great watch, and if you're looking to try out wearables for the first time, it's an excellent 1st watch.
Great build, good battery life, very elegant. At first i was sceptical in regards to buying a smartwatch, but you can't go wrong for the price. It syncs my information as I like. I'm pretty content with it, even without the heart rate sensor.
