Finally we found what we were looking for !

Kudos to Bestbuy as they beat a competitor price plus an additional 10%. Now for a review. 1st off we have been introduced to the smart world of tablets and phones with the Apple OS. Expensive and has its limits (no flash or videos on Facebook) frustrations galore including crashes and we had to upgrade for a $500 + ...tablet to keep up with the Jones. I checked the reviews and the next best thing was the Nexus 7 which is a third of the price of an iPad. We bought a Nook and a Kobo to our disappointment for reading ebooks. Now my wife is happy, she can read all the books she wants because its light, the screen is bright, she can play all her games, surf the internet without restrictions. I love the fact you can customize each screens with the apps of your choice blended with widgets which are like the main attraction for that particular page. You can segregate each pages by theme and the selection is great. We bought a case, protector screen and car accessories for less than $20.00 making a great companion to protect our purchase.

good but

The nexus 7 was the most comfortable tablet experience that I have ever had. It's soft touch plastic made it feel nice in your hand and very little heat came through the material. It's performance was great, most of the time though. It did have a issue that it would lag a lot. The most major flaw is the built quality. The built quality. The backing of this tablet would unhinge and sperate time to time. You have to a snap it back into place. I had my nexus 7 in by book bag and my ear buds cracked the screen. The digitizer was broken so my touch screen was unresponsive.

Love the Google nexus

I purchased a tablet for my wife a few months back and she loves it. I came to enjoy being able to read books, listen to music and play games, so when the tablet went on sale this past week I grabbed one for myself! I really like this unit and will be using it a lot while we head off on vacation!

bad build quality

this is great at first, but after 3 months. speakers are broken and doesn't charge or turn on at all. called google and they said not supported because I bought from best buy. never ever again nexus.7 I really regret I didn't fork out extra bucks for the ipad mini. overall great device and I'm sastify with the usage. however this is really bad build quality as you can see the speaker are broken and the tablet is dead after 3 months. that is pretty bad IMO. best buy should have a build quality ranking so I can vote. I will give build quality a 1.

great little tablet but lacks expansion

Bought this tablet rather than the full-featured Asus Transformer largely due to price. Setup was dead simple. Took all of 10 minutes.tablet is responsive & intuitive. Great screen resolution. Dislikes: I think tablet employs some kind of auto-screen lighting technology. Found that the screen would often adjust its brightness when tablet was moved or tilted. After a while it got annoying. Although tablet comes with 32Gb of ram, there is no expansion capabilities.

Great Product

I purchased my Nexus 7 back in January. I absolutley LOVE this tablet. I wanted something that was portable that I could use as an ereader. I had originally purchased the Kobo Arc, but had issues with charging it. After reading reviews about the Nexus, I decided to make the switch and am so glad I did. I dont find that I need to charge this too often and find that it is quite responsive. Never had any issues with it. I would highly recommend this product.

Great Little Tablet

Bought this tablet last week and have nothing but good things to say about it. My old Lenovo K1 was excessively slow and was terrible at connecting with wi-fi internet. No problem with this unit. Setup was a breeze and so far it has beyond my expextations. Love the price. Much cheaper than the iPad mini. Love the size. It is very portable and easy to hold in hand. The only drawback is the lack of a slot to expand the memory but 32 GB is more than enough for most people.

I really wanted a tablet but wasn't sure how much I would actually use it, so I purchased this lovely little device. I fell in love immediately, so much so, that I went and upgraded my iPhone to a Galaxy Note 2 and will never look back!! Would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Perfect price for first tablet

I bought this tablet before Christmas for our kids and it has been money well spent. I find it the perfect size for young children to hold and it is very user friendly. My kids play more with this tablet and now I can have my desktop computer back. If you were going to use something around the house, I would prefer something bigger, but it is great when you're on the go. The kids can watch a movie on it at a restaurant or play games. Large number of educational and entertaining apps available through Google Play. I was first going to buy the iPad, but now that I've used the Google Nexus and I know what we use it for, I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money. To get the equivalent iPad mini with 32 GB, it would cost you ~400 dollars. Buy this and use the extra money to buy apps. You can buy alot of apps for over $100. Probably the only downside is there is not much available for protective cases etc. Hopefully as this tablet gets more popular, more will come on the market.

Great Tablet

I bought this tablet, Little to none negative things. it is a superb tablet. it has basically become my Computer. you can pretty much do anything on here. no expandable memory is a bummer but there is virtually no Lag, only when you get near the end of like 3-4GB of space.( lasts less then 10 seconds less then 5 most of the time)

Great Tablet!

Absolutely great! I use it for school and reading all the power points my teachers provide for me. I can read them anywhere and not have to sit in front of a computer to study, and I don't have to print out sheets and sheets of paper. I use it everyday and if fits in my pockets great, love the size.

Buyer Beware

I purchased this unit back in November and had three great months of it. I really enjoyed the Nexus 7 and was very happy with my purchase. After that, the unit rebooted and would never boot up again. It just stayed at the booting "X" logo forever. After speaking with the folks at Google and at ASUS, performing a factory reset and wiping all of my data off of it we still could not get it working and I have to send it back to ASUS for them to try to fix it. This is unacceptable for a three month old tablet that was never tampered with or dropped or anything. I would advise people NOT to purchase one of these at this time. You have been warned!

Great Tablet!

Love this device, there is so much you can do with it! The battery on the Nexus 7 lasts longer than my HTC Wildfire S phone, although it will run down quicker on applications like Netflix. You can use the Nexus 7 to browse and play Netflix vidoe on your PS3. All in all a fantastic tablet!

Full Satisfaction

I have to admit that I was disappointed at first when I found out that the Playbook was no longer available at the price set by Blackberry. I first bought the Nexus 7 having not done much research but was impressed by the sales associate at the Stoney Creek mountain location who suggested I purchase this unit if I was not that interested in the back camera for picture and video. The quad processor is impressive as are several other features. As it turns out, I am thrilled with the unit and consider myself fortunate to have it in place of the Playbook as it is far more user friendly.

Good Buy

So far my son is happy with it. helped him a lot with his school work. Speed is good, the slim look of it is awsome. we put some expensive screen and body protector on it for durability. The size works for my son as he likes to carry compact equipment.

A great tablet

I have had my Nexus 7 for a couple months and really enjoy its versatility. To supplement the tablet I bought a rotating (landscape & portrait) case, stylus and Bluetooth KB. The screen color is great, the functioning fast and plenty of apps. One app I still await is a good word processor but practically every other app I want is there. Downloading music & photos from my iMac is simple. My one grouch is that battery life is short. Other than that 5 stars!

Love My Nexus 7

I've been waiting for an affordable tablet for a few years now. When this came out I could finally justify the expense. I absolutely love this little tablet and having been using it for almost a full month pretty much everyday. It doesn't disappoint. It's fast, small enough for me to type without stretching my hands across it and lots of cool apps. Only 2 things I wish it had are the option of a micro-sd card and a paper app that I can write with a stylus pen on the tablet and draw as at work we do a lot of brainstorming. Oh and this tablet definitely crosses the barrier between work and home. Good Job but a little room for improvement. :-)

Returned my Nexus 7

Sadly I returned my Nexus 7 today. I own a ASUS laptop and home wireless router and have come to know ASUS as a company that makes a quality product. Until my experience with the Nexus 7. I am disappointed to say the least. The experience of allowing the battery to go dead and render the device useless was too much for me to get over. I tried all the forum suggestions and nothing worked. A drained battery bricked my Nexus 7. My biggest problem was that I still had personal information on that tablet that I could not get off. got a screen protector that is now protecting an expensive paper weight. I had high hopes for the Nexus 7.

I bought this tab 3 weeks ago although there was no sale on it like other tabs. It really has a great processor. The only dowside thing is that it only has one camera on the front and no back camera , it also has no microsd card but it comes with 32GB so this should be ok.

I've had the same problem twice in a row now. Once again my sound, sounds like a robot. I've done nothing that should make it sound like that and I don't have time to keep getting it fixed or replaced. The last one I had did the same thing and I kind of need my tablet for schooling.

Better but still not good enough

This is the third Android tablet I've purchased. The OS certainly has improved over previous generations. My issue is with the quality of the apps, far too many crashes and too many apps not optimized for the tablet but just phone apps scaled up. The build quality is decent especially considering the price, but the speakers are extremely underpowered and the biggest disappointment is the lack of a nice camera especially since the size of the tablet would make it ideal to use as a camera. At the end of the day, I returned the product after 3 days.

great product, initial setup is a little awkward

Pretty happy with this item. My only complaint is that you are forced thru their setup wizard, with no option to bypass, and set certain things up later. Specifically, it took me quite a while to get it set up on my secured wireless, because a) it does not like hidden SSID's and b) there is no way to get the MAC address off of it until you've completed the setup. After a few internet searches, the only fix I could find was to temporarily unhide my SSID and turn of wireless MAC address filtering. Then it worked right away, allowing me to resecure my wireless. This is a silly problem I'd expect with a new product a decade ago. So, google and asus - do your customers a favour and put your MAC address on a sticker on the product, or on the product documentation, and teach it to understand hidden SSIDs, please!

Very Happy

I got this tablet for Christmas from my gf and I couldn't be happier. I have been using it since a lot since I got it and there has been ZERO issues with it. Runs fast, games run fine on it...I'm actually using it right now to write this review. People saying it runs slow probably don't know how to use Android. Anyway for the price its hard to find another tablet with these kind of specs and build quality.

Asus Nexus 7 32GB

Great unit, love it more than my iPad mini. Find it faster, (Asus quad-core 1.2GHz processor, Apple A5 1.0 Ghz processor), quicker (Asus 1 GB ram, Apple 512 MB ram) with a better picture (Asus IPS display 1280 x 800 pixel, Apple 1024 x 768 pixel). Both have the same battery life around 10 hrs. The Asus is also a little smaller (Asus 198.5mm x 120mm x 10.45mm, Apple 200mm x 134.7 mm x 7.2mm) and easier to hold with its rubber back. The price [...] is also great. The unit was fast and easy to set up and it was easy to transfer my media out of itunes to the unit. In fact the Asus can be sync to any media library (and type) unlike Apple. This now gives me the ability to sync to both my work and home computer libraries through the mini USB port.

Google Nexus 7 FAIL

I received a Google Nexus 7 today for Christmas. I charged it for about 7 hours. When I went to turn it on, all it would do is flash a bit of static every few seconds. Googled the problem and did everything I found. Held the power button on for 10, 20, 30 seconds, nothing! Also did the same thing with holding the power+volume up+volume down and nothing. I would like to rate this product but I can't turn it on to test it. Does Asus have a quality control department? I am going to return it [...] Merry Christmas!

Well bought this baby for my wife last week, had no problem hooking it up to my WI-FI, everything looks and feels great but i will not in my wildest dreams compare this to a iPad3 i had that for over a year and you get what you paid for. Back to nexus 7 if look closely you will see pixels there for - for that put it side by side with my Samsung galaxy nexus belive it or nor it was opening pages faster then quad core on this one LOL Over all good tablet for the buck but there are better as well as faster for less money

Impressive

Bought this in August when it was pretty much sold out everywhere. This was my first android product and it took me a while to adjust to the OS and widgets and stuff. Overall, after using it for 4 months, I love this tablet. The google play store has some great apps that would not normally make way on the App store. It plays practically every kind of video when you download some of the free apps available. Battery life is great, fits in my pants pocket, plays you tube videos seamlessly even on slow airport wifi which even my phone can't... great sound too! Good value for money!

Great when it works

Have had it almost 2 weeks and when it works, prefer it to my iPad. Problem is that the screen will become unresponsive to touch, need to power on and off constantly. Search nexus 7 unresponsive to see how big this problem is. There are hundreds of users out there with same problem. Hate to spend more money, but this is going back for an iPad mini....

Love the Nexus 7

It is fantastic value for the money, and does everything I need it to do. Initially, I had trouble connecting to wifi, as many others did. Fortunately, I have someone who is good at these things and he was able to get it up and running, by changing to a static IP address. No idea what this means. Once that was done...no problems. I could not have done this myself, so I am giving it a 4 star rating for overall rating, due to that issue. It would have been nice to take it out of the box and have it run with no issues. Great little tablet, with 32G, could not ask for more for the price! I do not need special camera and video functions, so it suits me perfectly.

CANNOT CONNECT TO WIRELESS

Purchased the Nexus 7 32GB yesterday and cannot connect to wireless. Just an FYI, when you first power up you cannot do anything with this product until you setup the wireless connection, which means I have been unable to do anything with the Nexus. Brought it back to Best Buy the same day and they replaced with a second one. Tried again to connect with no success. It sees my network and says 'connecting' then 'obtaining IP address', then just continues to loop through these 2 statuses. I tried changing my Linkys WRT54G router from WEP to WPA2 Personal. No luck. Maximum DHCP users set to 50 and 4 other devices in the house work fine except the Nexus. Called Google support and changed multiple settings on router with no success. They suggested I exchange it. I will not be exchanging it for a third time. Really NOT impressed with the product and surprised it got such good ratings. Try googling "google nexus 7 tablet unable to connect to wifi" just to see how many others have the exact same problem with the product and Google support. Very sad. Note: I set the battery life and style to a low rating because there was no "Not applicable" rating.

Great tablet

This is my first tablet and I bought if the first day it came out with 32gb memory. I did a lot of internet research before deciding on this one. I am very impressed and of course very happy with my purchase. Everything works flawlessly. Since I bought it for travelling (I thought!!!; I can't keep my hands off it) I bought an 32gb flash drive so I can carry all the films I want and feed them to the Nexus with the OTG cable. The screen is superb, the backing has a very nice feeling to it and it holds well in you hand. Everything on the internet is very fast, basically no waiting time. I am just thrilled. If you are hesitating with so many tablets on the market, think no more, go for the Google Nexus 7, you just won't look back. It is a very flexible tablet whereas the Ipad is not.
