Solid WiFi Router

I am using Shaw's Blue Sky service which comes with a Gateway that provides WiFi etc. - I pay for 150Mbps Internet but was only ever able to get 20Mbps using the WiFi that Shaw provided. Picked the OnHub up and now every device is getting 150+ Mbps in the whole house, 3 floors. I can manage my WiFi network remotely using my phone and I was able to add my Phillips Smart Bulbs to it without using the WiFi box it came with. It's also nice looking, it sits in the living room and doesn't look like a big spider ready to crawl around like some of the other WiFi routers out there.

Great router

A lot people whine about not being able to assign IP, just being lazy, you can change, reserve or assign any ip to your devices in 192.168.86. Any time I need to change service providers all I have to do is plug in OnHub to the providers router and I don't have to do anything else it just works no longer need to worry about changing or assigning IP's.

Not for you, if you need control

I'm sure this is a nice product -for the right user. However, i purchased it today and it is going right back to the store. If you actually need to configure the local DHCP address settings and other related settings, you don't want this. Google Support confirmed in a chat session that the app is the only way to interface with this device, and there are virtually no configuration options available through the app.

Returned it after only an hour... Cant define the IP range.

For the average user, this is probably no big deal, but as an IT professional with many devices with custom settings on my network, this was a dealbreaker.

Great router for basic users

It's a great router, it's super easy to install, the Google Wifi software is very easy to use. The only con is QoS is very basic, can't permanently lower prority for a device.

Excellent router

Have had no issues since setting it up, but the setup took it a bit more effort than I expected. The instructions illustrate connecting to a modem, but should include information on connecting to an ethernet cable only. If you do not have a modem, the ethernet cable needs to be plugged into the lower port (the one with the world symbol). There is also no mention in the instructions about what to look for regarding the colour and pattern that the light at the base should display. I ended up phoning for assistance and that made all the difference. Was very pleased with that part of the process, but believe including a better instruction set would preclude the need to call.

Great router

Easy to set up , great software, also easy to use and understand. It Literally took 10 minutes to hook up set up and it was running smoothly. Great distance, but maxis out around 35 feet if you have to go through doors or walls, but can reach distances of twice that on a strait through shot with no obstacles to pass through. Well worth the price and easy enough for a 12 year old to st up

The best router you can buy in Canada right now

Signal strength is amazing, setup is dead simple, and very reliable. The only issue is that you can't force your devices to use 5GHz AC from the router side. If 2.4GHz N signal is stronger, your devices will likely choose that, and you lose a little bit of speed. If your devices have an option to force 5GHz, you may see improved speed. Otherwise no complaints.

Easy to setup, easy to manage but ...

Everything works fine, but still expected more from Google ... still waiting for all the integration with various systems ...

OnHub by Google & ASUS

This product was incredibly easy to set up and resolved wifi issues that had been a problem in various places in our home since we moved in that a variety of other wireless routers and wifi over powerline products had not been able to resolve successfully. I highly recommend the OnHub!

The best Router for Wifi Range

I tried 3 routers (Securifi Almond, Linksys EA6350 & NightShawk ) & different wifi extenders before trying ASUS OnHub. I dont have enough wifi coverage all over home (Mainfloor, basement & first floor). Because of this my TV streaming devices did not get enough. Voila Onhub does the magic, it is perfect for my house. I have full strength signal in every corner of my house & speed increased dramatically & its always stable all the time. It will change speed based on your home use. It is little expensive than other routers. But the ease of use & solid wifi coverage worth the extra premium. My home setup 3 TV streaming devices, 2 tablets, 6 smart phones, 2 smart devices, 4 Laptops. All works well without any buffering.

Great Router

Easy to set up and great range. Looks good, too.

Looks nice

The performance and coverage is much better than my previous router with dead spots in my home no longer an issue. I have noted that streaming on my iPad isn't quite as good, with more buffering than it should have, but this could be a coincidence as I don't stream that often. The most frustrating part was the setup - it should have been easy but the documentation and online help didn't suggest that the cable modem be powered down for 30 seconds after the OnHub router was plugged in. The OnHub looks much nicer than the other dead crab routers, so I don't mind having it out in the open. I purchased the OnHub when it was on sale, I consider it a good value at that price.

Easy to set up, nice looking, gets updated when needed by google, but i find mine will drop the connection from time to time, maybe it will get fixed with an update, or i have a bad one.

Excellent Home Router

Worked as described and love the ability to use a phone app to control everything!

  • from Richmond, BC

Great Product!

Very easy to install and manage - just install the app, make sure location is on, on your phone and you are ready to install this router. Very much a plug and play router. The coverage is great and there is no lag when there are lots of devices on your wireless network. I was originally using the Telus optik wireless router, but I was finding there was a lot of lag when there were a lot of devices using the wireless network (streaming, Xbox running and the TV is on). Now, I haven't found any issues. Easy to manage/you can easily set priority for certain devices. Only negative is that it has only one wired LAN connection.

Excellent router for the price

Excellent router, was a breeze to setup and has excellent range and signal strength. auto updates are awesome. The only complain is no way to setup guest ssid but that will be fixed in an update soon.
