Love My Bose

All of our speakers in our house are Bose. We have tried others and the sound cannot be beat. There are other systems that are over priced as they pay big name stars to promote them, but the sound quality is just not there. Bose does it right. Classical, Country, Pop, Rock, Rap. Go with Bose!

Excellent sound

As others have noted, Bose commands a premium price, but these speakers are worth the money if you want quality sound. I've had them for a couple of months now and the sound is crisp, clear and the bass is rich and deep. I thought my $100 computer speakers did the job well but there is no comparison now that I've upgraded to these. My only complaint - and it's a minor one - is that these aren't the prettiest speakers to be sitting on your desktop. The subwoofer is a little bit heavy and it's a little annoying that the bass control is at the back of the unit, so you do have to get on your hands and knees to adjust the bass - but I don't find that I need to do that very often at all. Also - there seems to be an issue with using the USB cable to connect with a Mac... apparently, other Mac users have had this issue. The workaround is using the headphone connection - works just fine.

Excellent Sound

I bought these speakers on sale and they are excellent. The music is crisp and the bass is incredible. The bass can be adjusted. They look nice and can be played for long hours as I have done with mine. Have owned them for 2 years

Bose Companion 5

I am a speaker fanatic, so I've always had something to play my tunes on, whether it be a portable speaker or a 7.2 surround sound in my bedroom. I've been at university for a few months now and naturally there isn't room for big speakers in a small dorm, and to have a bunch of speakers lying around would create a lot of wire cluster in such a small space. SO, I bought the Bose Companion 5 set and to be blunt, I could not be happier. The sound is crisp, the bass is smooth, though it does crack under too much pressure so you'll have to regulate it. There are very few wires so it's neat and looks overall "sophisticated." If you're looking for a compact system with crisp sound and a "5.1 surround sound" for your computer, these are PERFECT. Worth the dollar!

A Bose is a Bose

Nothing bad you can say about a Bose's sound quality. My only disappointment is it's surround sound effect simply cannot replace the actual 5.1 surround sound. Maybe it's got something to do with my room and where they are placed, who knows. Overall still impressive.

Impressive Volume of Sound

This is probably the best computer speaker system you can buy. It connects via USB and has no facility to connect through your sound card. I don't know at this time whether or not you can remove your sound card from your system or if it's still needed for signal processing. I rated this a little bit low on Style as I find the satellite speakers are looking a little dated. I also think it should be priced lower that what it's at. It's worth more than any standard 2.1 or 5.1 computer speaker systems but I'm not sure it's worth 4x as much. The good thing about buying this is you won't be disappointed and you won't be settling. I've yet to watch a movie but the included demos really show off the surround sound, it does sound amazing. I don't know how they do this with two speakers and a subwoofer. I'm guessing that there are pretty slick computer signal processing going on to fool our ears. If you have the money, love music and videos, forgot about the other brands and make this one-time purchase. You'll be satisfied for life.

Great product

Everyone knows Bose. The quality is extrordinary, it sounds great. It looks pretty sleek and is easy to use - got it going without any instructions. The only thing is that it's in three parts so it isn't as easy to store. It costs quite a bit but is worth it for sure. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great stereo for parties or laying around.

Amazing as a PC player or a Stereo in the house.

I bought this 4 years ago at a boxing day sale. I do not use this for my PC I use this to connect my IPOD or MP3 player or my PSP players. Essentially this is my stereo in our living room I can play it quiet or loud depending on who's there. The sound remains excellent. Nonetheless I did some very serious listening at the BOSE store and compared all there products and this delivered top notch sound by comparison of some of there much more expensive products. I asked the salesman and he smirked when I commented on what I noticed, he too knew. I love these and just wish I bought another pair for my bedroom.

Excellent sound

Really great vocals. The speakers are clear and the bass created by the module is perfect. It has no on/off switch and it goes into power saving mode when you do not use it for several minutes. That is when it is "turned off".

Bose companion 3 series/ Bose companion 5 series

The over all sound is unmatched ! ,but the over all volume could use some extra kick ,( If you like clean , and loud, but every tone every whisper every acoustic is there ...!!! GREAT JOB, I am A Musician, song writer from Ontario, Canada, and freelance writer , I use the Bose companion series 3 to capture all of the tone from my instruments , using a sound processor and the headphone out jack! the sound is awesome at low levels ,I get big concert sound at an acoustic level.. I would love to own a Bose companion 5 series , However It, as well as most of your products are out of my price range ... but every one should buy the companion 5 system if They can .. if your budget is tight go for the companion 3 series ,Bose rocks! regardless of the size , Bose delivers in it's quality ,If Bose could make them all more powerful and some how more affordable the world would finally hear the difference that a Bose system makes...

Decent... expected more from Bose

I have a lot of Bose products, now including the Companion 5's. I think what I really should have purchased were the Companion 3's, and I still may exchange them.I've only owned them about a week now. There's something missing that I can't put my finger on. After reading some online reviews, there are three things I will try in order to improve the sound. 1 Position the acoustimass module forward facing instead of sideways, against the wall as I have it set up now. I now understand that the acoustimass also delivers mid-tones, so maybe that's what I'm missing from this system. 2 As instructed, I turned the iTunes EQ off. Maybe I'll turn it back on and make some slight adjustments to the EQ afterall. 3 They've had a total of about an hour of use. Apparently they should be broken in for a few hours before making final judgement. This is supposed to be Bose's top of the line computer speaker system... there is a good chance it's just me at this point. All in all, they sound good to me for the first little while, but after about 20 minutes in front of them listening to music I want to turn them off. Maybe it's the Bose Truespace digital surround circuitry I don't really game or watch movies on my computer... I generally only play music on it and often use the Airport Express to stream it to the living room stereo as well. I understand that the Companion 3's don't use the digital surround technology and plug into your audio card rather than USB, so maybe they are more suited for my needs. I'm thinking that's the real problem... the speakers are always on in simulated 5.1 surround sound mode. Sometimes they sound good and they have tons of bass, but all in all I think I'll buy and compare them with the Companion 3's... I don't need 5.1. I just thought these would be the best I could buy for my computer from Bose. And for gamers and movie watchers... they may just be. For music, it's kinda echoey... in a digital simulated way.Hope my review helped some of you. I have many Bose products elsewhere in my house and this is the first time I questioned whether one of their products was for me or not.

I love these...

I bought this system to go along with my MacBook Pro. It not only matches in terms of color but also provides a wonderful auditory experience. It is certainly possible that audio professionals may feel that these are not good value, but for the average user this set sounds extremely superb. I really enjoy them when watching movies. The price is steep, but I believe it is worth it. Plus they look good too

Not So Great

the bass on theses thing are horrible and for the price they are simply a waste of money the sound is bad at high volumes and the bass cuts out i had a pair of altec lansings for 90 dollars that blew this system out of the water. so if you like your bass and like to pump volume don't get these

AWESOME

I won't pretend to know how well other computer speakers systems perform. I do know that if your purchase other systems, there is a fair chance you will return the product for lack luster performance. I also know that if you buy this system from Bose, you will NOT waste your time returning them to the store. They are quite simply the richest, fullest sounding speakers I've ever owned. They blow away any previous systems I've compromised with. Stunning sound and are very easy to look at.
