Breville toaster oven

This toaster oven exceeds on all counts. It does not dry out the toast, It bakes evenly. We are very happy with the product. The only possible negative we came up with was that it seems to take a long time to toast bread but, that may just be impatience. If this oven is as reliable as we expect, this will make the Breville oven by far the best one we have encountered.

Loved it til it Died

Had this model for 2.5 years. Used my breville oven a few times a week for pizzas, fries, chicken, baking pies, cookies, crumbles, etc. Loved the convenience of it...until one day it died with no warning. Screen went blank and power would not work at all, almost as if it had an expiry date. Apparently this is a known issue, as I read about hundreds of others having the same thing happen to this model of Breville Oven. [...] For [the price], I wouldn't purchase another, even though when it did work, it worked well. I went with a higher price point oven, expecting quality and longevity from the brand. Overall, I am very disappointed with my Breville experience, and will go with a less expensive appliance next time.

Buttons / dials not working properly after a year

A few months after the warranty ran out the control panel started acting up. Buttons don't work, half the time I can't turn it on or off. The dials would jump settings all over the place so I no longer can precisely set the temps or timer. Very disappointed. We really liked it before this issue which has now made the oven almost unusable. We're looking to replace it but hopefully with something more reliable.

Love My Breville

First toaster Oven. Did a lot of research. Wanted it for baking and broiling more than toasting although I do find I am using that feature. As a single person I was tired of waiting for the big oven to heat up and the expensive of operating it. The Breville does an excellent job; quickly. Especially like the convection feature. I find I'm using it even when I entertain as it is large enough to handle steaks and small roasts. Great for my home made pizza too. Love the idea of using the top to warm dishes, Very Satisfied.

exceptional purchase

We bought this toaster over and I can't say enough about how excellent it is. So easy to use and it toasts perfectly every single time and in less time than a regular toaster or oven. The dials are easy to use and big enough to see. There are enough settings to do everything you need to in a regular toaster oven and more. I loved it so much I bought another one for my cottage.

Great Product

I've made everything from toast to a whole roasted chicken. It cooks hotter and quicker than a conventional oven and is easier to clean. I just hope it lasts a couple years at least, I read somewhere the screen will die eventually and you will have an useless oven.

Great toaster. Great value.

I've had this toaster for a month and I'm really impressed with it. This toaster is a rare example where all the added "bells and whistles" actually helps, rather than over-complicate things. PROs: - Very easy to use. This is what I like best about it. My previous old-school toaster over (with only temp and time settings) was actually harder to use because I have to remember the temp and time for simple toast. - Internal heat sensor adjust pre-heating times according to how hot it is currently. - It remembers old preferences, but very easy to readjust setting. CONs: - None.

Best Gift I Ever Gave

I got this convection/toaster oven for a friend. She said "- toasts bread evenly whether 2 slices or 4 slices - instructions are clear and accurate - e.g., reducing temperature by 25 degrees if using convection feature to bake produces good results with what I've baked so far - easy to clean She is a happy baker!

Best thing I ever purchased

I never use my regular oven anymore. This oven cooks everything including frozen pizza. Heats up very quickly even at 450 degrees. Cooks faster than a regular oven because the food is much closer to the heat source. Not really a "toaster" oven. More of a portable convection oven.

Great product

I got this product about a month and a half ago to replace my toaster oven which had stopped working. The one I had mounted under the counter but that type is no longer available so decided to get one that had a larger capacity and doubled as a convection oven. I love it. I've used it for toast, pizza, to roast and am really happy with it. It heats up quickly works efficiently. The only downside is have a small kitchen and had to find room for it, but so far it's been worth it.

Great product

I use my oven everyday. Great size to accommodate most dishes. Quiet operation and heat around oven is low even when operating at top temperature for a long period of time. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for convection toaster oven.

Satisfied convectioneer

I am new to convection ovens and I haven't used the Breville BOB800XL to its full potential yet. But so far so good. For me, there is a fairly steep learning curve around cooking times, program selection and just getting a good feel for things but I'm very optomistic based on my use to date. I have cooked a pork chop dish and similar simple things and I am working up to something more ambitious. I like the look and dimensions. The preset program options make good sense. It's easy to use. If I were designing this product I would put a little more substance into the dials. They work great but feel flimsy. The product would feel better if the dials were just a little stiffer and felt more solid.

What a great product.

I love this product. There is only my husband and I. We used it for everything, baking, broiling, toaster, and we love it. So far it is working perfect. We purchased it 7 months ago. We use it every day. And if it only last 1 year it is worth it. I will definitly purchase another one.

Breville Convection Toaster Oven Failing

Purchased a Breville convection toaster oven, BOV800XL. Within 4 months display light dimmed returned it to store and they replaced it with another unit. New unit's display light also dimmed after a short period of time, decided I could live with it. Recently oven door came crashing down, Googled problem, broken spring seems to be the word out on the net. Door constantly crashing down now, quite annoying.[...]

Great until it stops functioning

This is a very good toaster oven. Problem is that is stop working 13 months after purchase. Breville customer support has yet to help in any way. No response to email (which according to Breville Canada is the only way they will communicate). Buyer beware - this is a very expensive piece of junk, you won't be getting what you paid for.

Don't bother

Fan quit 11 months after purchase, display went blank a month later. Get the product replacement plan so the sting hurts less when it fails, because it will.

You'll be sorry

I had to replace a 5-year-old convection oven (common brand name, starts with O). I was excited about getting this sleek-looking oven. Got it home, washed all the accessories and ran the oven through its burn-in routine as instructed in the manual. Everything seemed great. Next day the thing was dead: no lights, no response at all, even when plugged into a different outlet. Returned it to BB. What a waste of time and money (gas, parking, unpacking, washing, burn-in, testing, repacking). Breville should pay me for this crap. Breville makes showy appliances but seems to cut corners on quality control. The more bells and whistles they put in their products the worse they seem to be. Save your money and get a regular brand convection oven for 1/3 the price at the hardware store.

Great while it works

This toaster was fantastic to use until it died just a couple of months after the warranty expired. Looking online. It appears to be a lemon of a toaster with a lifespan of around 12-18 months. If you do get this (because it does work well when operational). Make sure to get the extended warranty plan.

Not bad; dial controls feel cheap

For an appliance that is supposed to be the creme del a creme of toaster ovens it is disappointing the dial controls feel like something found on cheap, kids' toys.

Solid & Sleek

After finding our Miele wall oven was too small to handle our cooking needs for holiday gatherings, we went shopping for a second and larger wall oven to add to our kitchen. Once we discovered the price and installation costs we decided to try a convection oven as a short term quick fix until we determined the best wall oven for our needs. We rationalized that we could buy a new convection oven EVERY YEAR for MORE THAN 10 years and still come out financially ahead of even the least expensive wall oven unit. We spotted the Breville Convection Oven and were impressed by its heft & solid construction (we literally picked-up every other oven in this category from the shelf to examine) combined with the sleek stainless steel finish. The Breville looks right at home on our granite countertop and exceeded our expectations. Now, almost 1 year later, we are impressed with how it cooks more evenly and quicker than our Miele convection wall oven. For example, it cooks individual, homemade 10" thin crust pizzas in 6 minutes or less including warm-up time versus the 16 minutes for the Miele. Plus, the Breville has a larger than expected cooking capacity handling my regular pans for roasting potatoes and various meat cuts. Currently we use the Breville more often than our wall oven and microwave combined especially when reheating bread because it doesn't make the bread chewy & tough like microwaves do. Further, we enjoy the easy to use auto timing device which shuts off the oven when baking frozen lasagnas and other prepared meals. My mother is so impressed with our little Breville such that she wants one too! A perfect gift for her and my dad and a handy addition to their kitchen.

Quality oven that is built to last!

We have owned two previous Convection Toaster Ovens that cost much less. - It seems to be true that you get what you pay for! The control buttons broke and the fan burned out soon after we started using them. The doors were both glass and one broke when it was opened too quickly while it was still hot. *Our Breville is still like new after using it regularly for over a year.* We agree with the other reviews that this is the best product to cook and heat meals or toast bread and buns. You will be happy when you spend your hard earned dollar to get this product. (The only thing missing is an interior light!) It looks GREAT on our counter!!!

Perfect for the quality-conscious at a good price

I had been looking for a countertop convection oven for months... something to do chicken, frozen lasagnes, or pizza in that doesn't require the 10 minute warm up typical of a large oven and is perfect for small quantities that go along with living alone or only ever cooking for 2. You can turn off the convection fan, turn on a feature that lets it know you're cooking something that is frozen, and has more features and mode adjustments than I could ever use. Compared to 90% of the crap out there for the same price, this appliance feels solid when opening and closing the door, the knobs turn easily and the buttons are designed such that they won't wear out easily. There's even a handy magnetic catch on the door that pulls the tray out when you drop the door open then lets go at the right moment and looking at the size of a 13" pizza pan and the oven, you'd never believe the pan would fit inside until you actually do it. It is deceptively large inside. Overall a perfect 5. I've used it nearly daily as my principle cooking device for almost a year and I have had zero problems so far.
