A fine printer

This is a fine little printer. Not the greatest quality printer, but you get what you pay for. Easy to setup, fast and has a decent quality scanner. Plus great support for Linux.

Great little printer

I needed to replace my big All-in-One printer so I chose this Brother computer and I am very happy with it. The print quality is outstanding, and it prints very quickly! It's quiet, small (doesn't take up much space) and works like a charm. I haven't tried the fax or scanning part of it yet, but the photocopy and print parts work so well, I have no doubt the rest will too!

Good Product

The original ink amount is less than 10 papers printing use, but you can refill them by using third party ink cases [...] which can print over 300 papers. I love the wireless print function, so I can print them via my iPhone. Last thing, when it is jammed, please plug out the power first and then pull the paper out, otherwise the internal memory will always tell you that the printer is jammed.

ink ink and more ink

I have owned my printer for a few years. I use it about once every 6 months and have printed less than 200 pages since owning it. It cannot detect the ink cartridges unless they are new and used within the past week. I have bought 3 sets of cartridges over the past year and a half and calculate my cost to operate this printer at almost a dollar per page of print. worst printer I have ever owned.

Scanner is good, but not happy with other aspects. I trusted the online reviews I read about this printer, but after 3 months of use my issues began. My frustration with the printer and the lack of immediate resolution from Brother has angered me to the point where I am posting a review. Purchased from Best Buy (Toronto), but started to have issues with paper feeder - it was feeding multiple pages at a time; so a 1 pg document would be printed over 3-5 pages. Contacted Brother and got a refurbished one. After another 4 months feeder issued arose. Again purchased expensive different weighted paper to attempt to solve issue, but not resolved. I had gone through reams of paper when I normally would have used 2 at the most. Contacted BROTHER asking for a full refund and 1 ream of paper in compensation for the loss. Got they email that they were looking into it. My 1 yr warranty is about to run out and I have not received a response and definitely not the refund. I think they are waiting until my 1 yr warranty runs out. I had an HP for 14 years and only replaced it because toner cartridges hard to find and it was out dated and noisy. Well, OLD HP did a better job than this new BROTHER. I trusted all the online reviews BUT THEY WERE WRONG !!!

I've burned through two of these now.

- Issues with paper jamming - Print quality is good - Ink is expensive and runs out quickly.

Brother MFCJ475DW

This was purchased to replace a Brother printer that has served me well...I didn't look to another brand because in my opinion, Brother makes the best printers. Set-up (wireless) was very quick and simple and no problems.. the fact that Best Buy had it on sale...was an added bonus!!!

Good value for money!

After having two cheap printers in the last 2 years and trying to find an affordable printer with affordable ink, I bought this brother printer at the advice of the ink refill technician in my nearby mall. He told me to forget all the other brands and just buy a brother printer. It works, it scans and it does everything it's suppose to do without any problems. So far, so good. Installation was pretty easy along with all its functions.

Worst printer I've ever owned

Hard to set up. Can't even get the fax to work at all. Extremely poorly designed with the USB port and phone jacks at the front, inside the printer. Paper tray and document feeder are both very awkward and annoying to use and feel very flimsy. I really regret buying this. I hate it.

Good value for the money!

I bought the Brother Wireless All In One Printer when it was on sale a few months ago and have used it for light printing and copying jobs. So far, so good! It is much quieter than the HP(junk!) that I used to have and I'm still using the ink cartridges that came with the printer and have yet to replace them.

Designed for obsolescence

After using this machine for about 8 months, I replaced the original black cartridge. Before replacing the black, all the other colours showed more than half full. Now the printer shows me I have to replace all the others to do ANYTHING, even scan! Upon contacting customer support, I'm told it was designed that way!

Great Printer

It's convenient, prints well, and scans well. I found the software it comes with to be very intuitive.

Wireless, 2-sided easy to use printer

This is my second Brother MFC printer & it didn't disappoint me in its ease of use. I had to call support to help with wireless setup for laptop, & they really weren't much help, so after I uninstalled and reinstalled it worked perfectly. I love the features of cropping automatically while scanning. It seems a little slow sometimes, when printing several pages, but quick with scans. I still have more options to explore on this printer, but for now its everything I was looking for in a daily use printer.

For a very reasonably priced all in one printer, this is a great value. Does the job as well as our super expensive Hp laser did.

Brother MFCJ475DW

Got printer working as described completely, on my Apple network. Printing from my iMac and wirelessly from my Macbook Air and my iPhone. Double sided prints fast. Auto feed scanning works well. Build quality exceptional. I love it. A real deal for the price.

Almost perfect

Nice little printer with many thoughtful features for light use. Small footprint allows it to fit in tight places. Unlike many other printers, the document feeder closes so it does not collect dust when it's only used occasionally. Enclosed paper tray also helps keep the paper clean from dust. Automatic duplex printing works great to save paper. Separate color cartridges mean replacing only what's needed without wasting the remaining color ink. USB and WiFi connection work as expected. The only thing missing for me is a manual paper tray so I can feed just one sheet of specialty paper like photo or label. Some may find it missing SD card reader to print pictures directly from. An Ethernet port would have been nice. Another minor issue is the paper tray feels flimsy so be gentle when reloading or switching paper. One note worth mentioning is to select Best quality when printing photos or you will likely to be disappointed by the default quality. After selecting Best setting, casual photo is not a problem for this printer any more.

Buying another Brother printer!

Wanting to upgrade to a wireless printer for our home office - I was thrilled to see this offering as we have had a Brother MFC240C All-in-One Colour printer with fax for years now . . . basically the same model as this one, but without wireless. It has been easy to use, and extremely dependable - a real workhorse. Not a single issue with it. We can buy cartridges in the 4 pk (1 blk, 3 colour) at most of the "box stores" and frequently find them on sale. Reg price is about [price] for the pack. It looks as though this new wireless printer uses the same cartridges as our old one - and with the reasonable price of a bit over $100 for the printer, we'll be buying within the week. Will come back to rate after we've been using it for a bit.

So Far, So Good!

Needing a good printer, scanner and fax machine, I found the Brother MFC-J475DW on sale at Best Buy just before Christmas. We've done a lot of printing with it so far, and it's held up quite nicely for a machine that cost under $100. I'm hoping we're still impressed with it at this time next year. I guess time will tell! The one concern I did have is that buying ink is kind of a pain. I don't live anywhere near a place that sells ink for this printer, and it can't be ordered online from this site (according to what Customer Service told me), which means I'll have to drive over an hour to get ink when the initial cartridges are kaputt. The other thing is, the contents list did not include ink cartridges, so I didn't even know if it came with them. (It did.) Still, so far this seems to be a great value, and I'm hoping the longevity of the machine impresses me as well!

Brother All in one (MFCJ475DW)

It is not only worth but much more that the price, design is excellent and it hardware is strong, My only concern is the print cartilages, I have no clue how much would a combo cost as they were not available on the day I purchased. Otherwise this printer is absolutely fantastic.
