Great printer for the price

Bought this unit on sale during Boxing Week. It replaced an older Pixma 5300 that died. Setup was easy both for my PC and wife's Mac. Copying and scanning is easy both for single and 2-sided operations. Print quality is excellent. Really appreciate the duplex printing option. The document feeder works well and, so far, hasn't jammed. The unit is considerably bigger than the Canon it replaced. For some that might be a problem. One really great feature is that the front cover automatically opens when printing. I like to leave it closed when not in use so that it's less prone to damage. On other printers, this would present a problem but not on the MX722.

Nothing but Problems

This printer has been nothing but problems. Always having to reset to access point. Printing is slow and extremely loud. The quality is fine, nothing exceptional though. The size of the printer is very heavy and cumbersome. After a year it now gives a "not responding" message. Through trouble shooting may have to disable firewall in order for it to work. to connect wired the company does not include the usb cable either. Overall not satisfied.

Died after one year

Had this for about a year and now it is giving an error B200 and will not allow me to print. It's a common problem (Google it). Tried many fixes found online, but no luck. Now have to replace it -- definitely not with a Canon.

I bought this one over a week. It worked very smooth and I specially like the wifi function, no more extra money for the cable.

Slow and not good with access point

I bought this printer 3 weeks ago, while the seller highly recommended it. First of all, I don't like the fact that a USB cable is not provided in the box, it means you have to be connected to the Internet to be able to work with. Second of all, sometimes when I want to print, without any reason it tells me the printer is offline, and when I go to troubleshooting and diagnose, it asks me to connect your printer with USB cable to your computer. That is funny, because a USB is not provided in the box for the sake of having wireless printer. Anyway, it seems it works randomly and I don't like what I bought. I do NOT recommend it at all.

Disposable Printer

Bought one of these from Best Buy on a Boxing Day Sale December 2013 to replace a Canon MP620. It was easy to setup (though it is heavy) - however it does not come with a USB or Ethernet cable, so you're looking at extra cost to connect if you don't have a wireless network. In the first 6 months, issues ranged from the unit not powering off, hanging after printing, and not printing consecutive jobs without hanging. Essentially, the software-based controller in the printer is horrible. After 6 months, we ran out of ink. The replacement ink is very expensive. However, Best Buy had the printer on sale again, and we were able to buy the same printer, brand new, for less than the cost of the replacement ink. Thus, the 6 month old printer has gone to the e-waste dump, and a new printer with new ink is in place. Essentially, instead of replacing the ink, we replaced the whole printer for less cost. This makes the printer a disposable commodity, and calls into question Canon's commitment to the environment. Thank goodness for electronic recycling, otherwise this printer would be Made in Thailand, Garbaged/Landfilled in Canada every 6 months. Look for this printer on sale at Best Buy for less than the cost of the replacement ink - then it's a REASONABLE value (never a good value due to the software controller design).

Good Printer

Good and solid printer with overall excellent printings for this price. Good pictureprintings, better as HP or Brother. Easy and successful installation (wireless) procedure with the CD or Download.

Don't waste your time with this printer

I have no idea why this printer has so many positive reviews. I thought I was getting a good deal on a solid printer when it went on sale, but I was wrong. It is a lot larger and heavier when comparable to other printers with the same functions. Set-up takes quite a long time, but the final straw was after printing 4 pieces of paper... yes, only 4... the dreaded B200 error message appeared. Basically, this is a printer-head error which Canon has NO solution to fix. Google the error message and you'll see a lot of dissatisfied printer owners. Canon support was completely useless. Online support suggested to turn it off, unplug the printer, then plug it in again after 5 mins to a couple hours. Canon phone support suggested I take it back to the store to exchange; which I happily did for another brand... thanks for the suggestion Canon!!!!

Word Docs Need Not Apply

Awesome Printer!!! Prints pictures beautifully. Buyer beware though make sure you know what you want to do with this machine. Unless you are using Office 365 don't bother buying this if you want to scan documents and be able to edit them. And then there is no guarantee that it will scan in properly. There is no word doc option when scanning. You MUST scan as a PDF then Word 365 will give you the option to open it as a word doc. You then run into the very real problem of the computer deciding that your document is a picture and it refuses to save a editable text but as a picture in a word doc.

Works well

Works well but I still can't configure it to answer the phone when there's a fax. It's a bit larger than I was expecting but it has a nice complement of features and is relatively easy to use without reading the manual.

Great Printer cartridges too expensive

Cartridges are literally twice the cost of my Canon Pixma MX882 ... a predecessor of the 722. Otherwise, a super printer. Great for photos and great for standard office printing.

It does double sided all by itself and has 2 paper trays and it holds a surprisingly large number of sheets. I don't like that it comes with fax, that is unnecessary. Overall a pretty great home printer at a decent price.

Great buy

I have read some of the other reviews, and though I cannot comment on them I can say that I had no problems what so ever hooking up the printer to my network, seamlessly connecting it to my intel iMAC.(2006 Model) my iPhone and the wife's iPhone Hooking it up with our PC laptop was a bit more involved and took a lot longer. I was able to install all the drivers and software and it is working. All I did was read the instructions prior to installation and followed their recommendations for the PC Install. The prints are great. My only issue came with the paper trays. A little sticky to open and close. Other than that it is a great wireless printer for the Sale Price. Thanks Harleymon

Finally a Printer I Love

I've never had a printer that was easier to set up than my new Pixma MX722 All In One printer. I was immediately impressed by its appearance, and soon found it doesn't just look like a good quality machine, it performs like a high quality machine. It's many features are easy to use and make using it a pleasure. It's wireless, prints on both side of the page, and it has an easy to use colour LCD menu screen. It hasn't had a paper jam or otherwise malfunctioned, and it operates fairly quietly. When I put a 4" X 6" colour print taken with my SLR film camera on the flatbed and started a scan, it automatically detected the print size and set itself to scan just the image, giving me the option to scan at a higher resolution than an average scanner can. I did and then viewed the scan at full screen on my 23" monitor. The image quality is amazing.

Wireless convenience

I love the fact that this printer can scan to a network drive folder in PDF or JPG format. I really like the fact that I can print from my iPhone and scan to my iPhone using the Canon MX722 and the Canon iEPP IOS app. This printer is also great for scanning multi page documents via the auto document feeder. For what you get, it's a great value. Print quality is amazing and it's fast enough for home use. I highly recommend this printer!

Decent all-in-one, horrible user interface.

Have only owned this for a couple of months - paid [price]. The print quality is quite good, I love the compact all-in-one design. Scanning is good, but I haven't made any copies yet, so I can't comment on that feature, or the fax. My big issue is with the user interface. Just horrible. Making matters worse is the pitiful documentation. To set up the wireless, I had to search on Canon's forums to find someone who cracked their code and was good enough to share the solution. Seriously, someone at Canon ought to be fired, it's that bad.

Excellent Quality For Price

I was looking to get a printer and the Canon MX722 came up on the Best Buy Flyer. The old printer I had was out-of-date and the price was excellent. While I was concerned about the "colour" aspect versus using "Black and White" as I had before, I have been thankful of the change - it opens up a whole new road to go down. I highly recommend the PIXMA MX722 to anyone, and I will!

Love this printer! The wireless feature is great as I'm no longer stuck wasting valuable desk space and was able to place it somewhere more convenient. Great printer!

I got this printer during boxing week. It is a very feature filled printer. Great print quality for both photos and regular document. It is a bit slow, but the superior print quality is worth it, in my opinion. Plus, at the [price] boxing week sale price, how could you go wrong?

Great printer

Our older Canon died on us so we needed a new one and this was a boxing day deal. Great purchase. It is bigger than our old one but definitely prints quicker. The only downside is that we purchased about $100 of ink cartridges for the old one just before it died. Tried to find a printer that could use the cartridges and could not. That is a real waste - Canon should try to fix this problem. The printer also prints great photos.

Pros -Good looks -Auto feeder for scanning works great -Auto double sided printing works great -Good deal when on sale Cons -Printer is HUGE -Google cloud print does not support monochrome printing with this Canon model. You are stuck with printing in color if printing via Google cloud,.

Excellent Deal

I bought this printer on boxing day sale for $70. Even for more, it is definitely worth the price tag. Prints quick, easy to set up and set up the wireless printing. Prints both sides without me having to switch the paper myself, and also has a paper tray like large industrial printers. Different ink cartridge for all colours, helpful when usually only one colour gets used up while printing. Highly recommend to all!

Good - Not Great

Had my last printer for three years and it was great. Having a little trouble getting used to how slow this one is. Seems like it will be good though once I get used to the features and I guess I can take a coffee break while it decides to warm up....

Canon PIXMA MX722 Review

I used to use Epson printers and then moved to Canon. This is my 3'rd Canon MX printer and they keep getting better. This one is faster and does a nice job with 4x6 prints with the dedicated 4x6 paper tray. The airprint feature is terrific from the Ipad/iphone. Also the Canon epp app works very well from an Android phone. With my Nikon 3200 camera, I was able to take pictures at a family gathering/ birthday, send them wirelessly to my galaxy s3 and then print wirelessly to the mx722. People were quite shocked when I took some pictures, left the room for a minute and came back. With 4x6 pictures for everyone. Te interface is new and I haven't used it much yet. I think the main difference between this model and the 922 is the 922 can print directly on cd/dvd's and has a slightly bigger lcd. Also new to me is the ability to buy xl cartridges for all colors as apposed to just black. In time I usually switch to generic cartridges which reduce the operating cost of these printers quite a bit. I'm sure the ink in the genuine carts is better and longer lasting but nice to have the option. Ouput quality seems quite good...the duplexing works extremely well. The speed is up a little as well over older models but it still sometimes has that slow print startup routine with the buzzing and chugging before starting to print. All in all it does eveything quite well and anyone in the market for an all-in-one printer should consider this model over the slightly more expensive 922 if you will not be printing cd/dvd's. Printers go on sale often and you should wait for a good sale to order.

Great product.

I was lucky enough to get this product during a Labor Day Sale at $110.00 off sale price. It is amazing how well made this product is. Set up was straight forward and easy. Wireless hookup was a snap. It was less expensive to purchase this all in one printer, scanner, copier than it was to replace the ink cartridges in my old printer. Great product.
