Stay Away from this Lens⭐️⭐️

⭐️ Performance in Day light ⭐️ Performance at 70 mm. This Lens performs well in good lighting condition, very clear picture quality. I used this on my Canon T6S. When I first opened the box the feel of the Lens was great, I felt vey happy that I purchased this. Once I installed it even more proud that I am a owner of 70-300mm IS USM. But once started taking picture my excitement proudness all started going down gradually. It did perform well in good lighting from 70-200mm. Even in 300 better. Could have been better with Tripod because of the size of the lens. In Low Light - it's hard to get focus, it keep on hunting with noise. If you put it in live view then the auto focus hunts continuously very badly with grinding noise. I use shutter release button for AF, once you lock the focus you continue to hold the shutter halfway until you take a pictur right? While you were holding the button it CONSTANTLY MAKES noise. I tried to focus between couches in a mild dark spot it didn't work well. I am disappointed that it's auto focus function in low light. I have been waiting for months for this lens to go on sale, finally it did go on sale but, unfortunately this is not up to the mark, hence I am returning it. I might try some other brand or I'll wait to save a little more money to buy a better one.

We were extremely disappointed in this product. We found the lens very slow to focus and the pictures just were not crisp and clear. We were grateful that Best Buy allowed us to try it out and took the return with no problems at all.

Don't waste your money!!!

This is the second lens like this that I have (same model). The first one I bought was defective so BB replaced it. I assumed the second one would be better but no such luck. I have had this lens for over a month so I can't return it. Most expensive dust collector in my house. The lens looks good and it is not heavy, but that is where the positive stops. It is extremely slow to focus and extremely loud. Most of my pictures with it are out of focus, because it is so slow. If you only take stills on a tripod you might be OK, but hand help it is useless. When you look on your images on your camera screen it does not look that bad but when you get the images on the computer they are not sharp and are out of focus. Do not even consider being able to enlarge an image taken with this lens there is no way anything beyond a 4 x 6 would look good in any way shape or form and even a 4 x 6 would be disappointing. I contacted Canon and was told to return it at my expense and they would "look" at it but there was nothing they could do beyond that. The customer service guy actually said "It is not the L series what did you expect" Considering the price I was expecting more from the product. Don't waste your money on this lens, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. The 200$ leans that came with my T3i did a better job then this.

Can't beat it for the price.

I have a Canon 5D mark III, Canon 7D mark II, Canon T5i, Canon Rebel XL. This lens fits all my Canons, takes excellent pictures and most are in focus ( I use it mostly with the smaller cameras on the kayaks, water shakes a lot), I use this lens with my bigger cameras as well for fast moving birds and large game. I also have 4 L series lenses as well but the 70-300mm lens is an excellent all around lens novice to expert. You will not be disappointed with it. Many people blame the lens for blurriness, but, most of the time it is camera shake. This lens has beautiful bokeh when used properly. I just love it. I actually have two lenses, one for me and one for my wife and we both use it all the time, especially when on the water, just in case.

It did the job very well.

The lens was great, it did the work right! I saw the other review down and some of it didn't sound great but after I try it, it actually did the work very well. So for all the people that commented bad about this lens, you didn't get a chance to use it well because its always u to the user not the gear. I would say its not the best but it did the job well.

The mm70 was not able to focus closer. I use it to photo birds and couldn't get a focused shot at anything closer than 20yds.

too noisy, image not sharp enough

Got this lens while on sale to pair with a T4i. it was very noisy when focusing, compared to STM lenses. After shot, zoom in from computer to check quality, bokeh was nice however with fuzzy target (not sharp as other lenses). it was returned.

Best long zoom before L Series

I bought this lens as an upgrade from my 55-250mm and am happy with the choice. This is the best long zoom lens you can get from Canon before upgrading to an L Series lens. This version has the IS (stabilizer) option and USM motor drive, and is made in Japan like other better Canon lenses. The lens was on sale for [price] and with a Canon mail in rebate of $150 this lens is an absolute steal. Highly recommended.

Low-cost Upgrade

I bought this as an upgrade to the EFS 55-250 lens for my 60D. For a bit more money, this lens offers better image quality, longer range, and the benefits of USM focusing. It doesn't have the build quality of the L-series lenses, but for advanced amateurs on a budget, you can't do better.

I had bought a Canon Rebel T3i just after Christmas....I took it on my vacation in Jan/13 and was very impressed with the quality of the pics....but I wished I had the EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6IS USM telephoto lens for the distance shots that I missed....I shopped around and bought it and I love the shots I can take with it to capture wildlife....I am still learning the different ways of taking photos with the camera and telephoto lens. I would suggest both the Camera and this telephoto can go for the more expensive ones but as for starting out this is the one to go with. If you are starting out you learn as you go which is what I have been doing and I love it.

This is my upgrade lens from the EF 75-300. The difference is night and day. The quality and clarity of the images has improved noticeably. This lens is a keeper and always in my bag or on the camera.

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.16IS USM

Got this lens 3 years ago with by D50. It is an amazing lens even in manual mode. Transferred it to my D60 last year. Clarity on long range is superb.
