D-Link AC1000 - Refurb

Was surprised to see that all paperwork in the box was for Wireless AC1000 and not the AC1200 that I bought. Don't know you dropped the ball on that: Bestbuy marketing with misleading ad or packers who can't read orders?? Pros: it works. wireless is pretty fast. I like the silo design as it takes less space than the flat box designs. I use it as an access point and wireless is pretty much everywhere no dead spots. It's got a USB port which is a plus to share files, music, etc. The router's web page interface is also extensive with lots of extra functionalities that I did not have with my N600 Cisco router. Cons: This router is lighter than a paperclip so the cat cables connected to it might weigh it down and force it to fall backwards. With a little tweaking and cable management you can fix that problem. Other thoughts: Bought it for it's refurbished price point and features and hope it will last me at lest 3 years until it's time to upgrade to something better/faster

garbage AC1000 100 MB max speed

I have Shaw 150 plan, which means I actually go over 150 MB/s on a network line running from the wall to my computer. I bought this junk AC1200 D-link and when I plugged in the network line from the wall to the router and from the router to my computer the speeds dropped to at least twice less and slow to climb to those speeds, so it would slowly crawl to about 80 MB/s on average. The box also read AC1000, maybe a typo, but the model is correct, DIR-820L according to the router web interface I used to setup wifi. Well I setup wifi and also very slow speed, way slower than the computer even. I later read this router has each port 100 MB, not gigabit like other modern routers, which means no matter what my line from Shaw will give max 100 MB with this garbage router. I later bought a router with gigabit ports and now my computer runs again very fast over 150 MB/s and wifi speeds also much faster. In the room next door my dad was hoping for faster wifi speeds on his computer D-link adapter, but turns out he was getting near the same slow 15 MB/s speeds our about 6 year old router was giving to him! The DIR-820L limited to 100 MB max, the wifi signal is not so great and when you have multiple devices using the internet 100 MB spread out to all of them does not cut it. After getting a gigabit router I can have high speeds on multiple devices at once. Routers with 100 MB ports shouldn't even exist at this modern age. The WAN port is 100 MB for this router, AVOID!
