I bought this router because of the usb 3.0 and the dual channel 2.4ghz and 5ghz. its a decent router dont get me wrong...BUT for winning a CES2012 award its not what i was expecting. i plugged in a WD 1 tb usb 3.0 external harddrive into the router and it was painfully slow. 2MB/s?? The 5ghz channel is really fast but but lacks range (typical of 5ghz) the 2.4 ghz was subpar. this just goes to show you specs are not everthing.

I can say that I'm not a pro when it comes to networking, but this thing drops my Cogeco connection regularly. I just bought it, updated to the latest firmware and it still doesn't work. It's especially noticeable when any more than one PC/MAC/IPhone is accessing the Net. I should've bought something more simple. I read many reviews of others with the same problem but I thought I'd give it a try. I will be returning it for something more reliable tomorrow.

Amplifi Dual Band makes a difference

This router was installed in the basement inside a network box and also connected to an 8-port and 5-port Dlink gigabit switch and had no problem keeping all traffic running smoothly. The signal reaches very far to the corner of the farthest room. This is a powerful router!

Great range and performance

I got this router to improve my WiFi range and performance. With my previous router, I could barely go on my deck with my iPad or laptop and get a signal. Now with this new router, I was able to take my iPad all the way to my back alley with a strong signal. Last night, I was using my Logitech Squeezebox (streams music over Wi-Fi) to listen to tunes at the back of my yard. Love it! Looking forward to trying out more of the functionality on this router.

What an upgrade!

I finally decided to upgrade my old n router and what a difference. Not only do I get better range but also the speeds are noticeably better. Streaming HD is now a breeze with this router. I would definitely recommend this router. Plus, its on sale right now.

great speed and coverage!!

I saw this advertized at BestBuy and decided to pick it up. My old Dlink router was working but there were some spots in my home that were dropping out or just really slow. I plugged this in and within minutes I was walking around my home with my laptop trying to see if it would disconnect. I get full!! bars throught my 3 level home. I even went outside and had to walk past by neighbors home before it would disconnect. Although I don't know how to measure the speed, I can tell you this routers feels super fast. I can't wait to try some of the other features. The router is more money that many others, but it's worth every penny.

This router has an awkward web UI which I would have been okay with had it's 5GHz performance not been sub-par. Using my HP Elitebook and the Netgear WNDR3700, 4000, and 4500 all exceeded my home internet connection (100Mbps). Speedtest would routinely peg out at 97Mbps. The 5GHz is a requirement for me, as I live down town and the 2.4GHz spectrum is littered with APs (site survey in my living room shows no less than 18, and just mine on the 5GHz site survey). This router managed to push only 50-something Mbps to the laptop, so back it went.

The router out there

I was looking for a router to improve my coverage and speed. This one does both and so much more. The N450 speed on both wireless band is great and I really wanted the ability to connect my Xbox and not have any drop outs and its works all the time. I love that it has USB 3.0 for fast transfer speeds. I've yet to use it, but other online reviews say it works very well. No regrets on this purchase. It's a little expensive, but you get it all.

Firmware 1.00 Issue

Worked with D-Link support over 5 days to resolve dropping wireless and dropping conection to the DSL modem. AFter numerous reconfigurations and reassignments of the router settings the D-Link supervisor indicated the issue is with the firmware. Though no new firmware is available, they were sorry and indicated that I seek another model. Support was great through out the calls over 5 days.

Great security, range, and ease of instillation. Came with all necessary instructions, my 14 yr old niece could set this up. Compared to my old router that conked out this one is great.
