Good for regular use

I have changed my Videotron router with this one, so far same performance. Is more rentable to have this that to loan the Videotron one.

Great router!

I just installed this router and was so pleased with how easy it was to install and it's so fast! What a difference!! I definitely recommend.

its not great

For all the stuff about its dual band and connection. It really has poor range. Disconnecting from time to time from areas 2 rooms away from the router. It doesn't help that my 7 year old router is doing a better job with connections than this. Still I can imagine an ideal case. In a focused small house/room.

Not better tHan Videotron Router

Wasted my time with this purchase...no significant difference compare to the Videotron router. ..this router is no good for a 2 storey house. .I lost half the signal...the Videotron router has no lost on a 2 storey house. ..

Excellent range on 2.4 GHZ, so-so on 5 GHZ

I wanted a better-range router in the 5 GHZ frequency to replace my DLink DIR-810L since there is too much congestion on the 2.4 GHZ range from my neighbors. When I hooked up the DIR-842 and checked the 5 GHZ signal strength with Wifi analyzer software on my phone, it was just barely better despite the "High-powered" antennas. In corners of my home about 40 ft line of site (with walls and one two floors in between), very weak to no signal. On the 2.4 GHZ range, works very well, slightly better than the 810L. I definitely recommend this (and the 810L) router for this frequency but I returned it since it didn't meet my 5 GHZ needs. On that note, I picked up the pricier DIR-880L and have kept it thanks to the better 5 GHZ range.
