It is good over all and it is fast as i was expecting

Not what I was Expecting

The fan has gotten progressively louder to the point where it sounds like a rattle is stuck in it. The mouse pad is far from acceptable. Bought this laptop to replace previous four year old laptop that died, and it was the cheapest i7. It shows.

Mouse pad works horrible

I have been using this laptop for a month now and so far I noticed that the mouse pad is not working properly. It freezes. Not happy with it.

Not terribly impressed

From the start this laptop has not really impressed me. There are driver problems so I get warning messages all the time (True Color for one). The touchpad mouse is jumpy so the cursor disappears every now and then if you even brush it with your hand (I had the same problem with my last Dell and they said they could fix it but never did). There appears to be something wrong with my sound drivers, because every once in a while there's a very strange noise on startup, but not consistent enough to call for support. Worst of all, they changed the keyboard layout - for some reason they moved the key with the | and \ down a row and between the home row and the 'enter' key, which is now smaller and I have to reach for it. That alone will take months to get accustomed to, especially because I sit at a different, more traditional keyboard all day while at work.

Hit and miss

I had to change this laptop 2 times to get the proper working version. First one ,the camera was not working. The drivers would just simple fail, then I changed it. The second one, there was a dead pixel on monitor. The third one, is still working. Hopefully I don't have to change it again.

Good ... [...]

[...] So far I have not had any issues. For the price this is the best on the market. [...] The keyboard design is quite frustrating as the second row or letter keys is displaced to the left and the number pad feels like it takes more space than it actually does. Screen is awesome. Not as fast as some more pricey i7 core laptops but overall it is faster than any macbook air. One thing to keep in mind is that this laptop doesn't have DVD player (see side profile photos above) Battery life is decent. Don't expect more than 4.5-5 hours of internet searching, however if you turn off wifi and just work on word or excel, it will last 6 hours easily. Lightweight and the brushed aluminum is remarkably scratch resistant. I have had no problems so far and overall it is a very good laptop for the price

The laptop has a core able to run just about anything, haven't seen it go over 80% RAM or 60% CPU yet (that's good) and has a graphics cards that okay, not recommended for hard-core gamers that need HD 1080i 60+fps. The only thing you have to hate is the mouse pad, so annoying to use sometimes, trust me

fast machine with a bad keyboard design

I've been running it for 3 months back to school. Overall, it is a good machine---fast and quite. It worths the money. But the layout of keyboard is too bad (keys are small, they don't function well). If you need to type a lot, you'd better think about it.

Great Dell

Bought this about a 3 weeks ago after returning another brand, so far this is an excellent machine. Touch works great keyboard is perfect with marshmallow type push, comfy for long stretches of activity. was going to replace the HDD with an SSD but decided to wait, it's very fast and responds quickly to commands. just enough memory but could use a bit more, may replace with 2x 8gig sticks. full size HDMI makes for connecting to my panel TV easy. all in all an excellent mid range Dell and would buy again and recommend to anyone wanting a machine that can do pretty much anything they need to do, will review again in a month or two in case issues arise.

Terrible Laptop!!

I bough this laptop spending around [$price] because I thought the quality would be better than the cheaper laptops for sale, boy was I wrong! After about 1 week the numberpad stopped working 3 days later the keyboard . (so I was down to touch screen) Them the entire laptop stopped. Now fighting with Dell just for them to fix. Save yourself the headache and buy something else!

Battery stopped working

Had this laptop for under two weeks and the battery died, called Dell and they told me to unscrew the bottom cover and unplug and reinsert the built in battery. This is really strange as by doing that you are essentially voiding your warranty. I refused to do this and went to Best buy where they opened it up, removed the battery and reinstalled, works fine now but I imagine every so often I will have to go through this again. The keyboard is extremely flimsy and pops out of the bracket every time the laptop is opened and closed. This computer is only good if you get it at a bargain, avoid it if its not on sale.

Horrible, waste of money!!!!

This is the worst laptop I have ever had. Stopped working after 2 weeks. It will just turn off on its own. Or it will freeze or apps will not turn on. To make it work if you try to restart it will not restart, so you have to press the power button to manually turn it off. I had it for 1 month now and it just keeps getting worse. Waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not so impressed

I bought this laptop 2 days and while playing a game the top arrow key just popped out of its hinges. The keyboard quality isnt the best and seems flimsy. The WiFi on this particular laptop does not seem to be the best when it comes down to stable connection. I changed from a mac book pro and expected the dell laptop to be as good if not better but i feel that the producers have compromised on quality for the specs they provide in this price range.

Bad experiences or bad luck on this computer

After just one month, this computer was totally dead. Nothing after pressing the power button. Exchanged one back. This one is switch to French mode automatically during the setup. Then, it is just stuck (Dell logo shown up then black screen). Is it just a bad luck of me to have two of this models? Will return to the store today.

Touchpad issues...

Nicely finished, touch-screen, i7 powered machine but.. It's my third one in a month because the touchpad keeps dying. After a few days it will have it's own mind and will not listen to you anymore.. It's pretty annoying to install everything each time but hey, it was [...]$ on sale so don't ask yourself why. I'm going to get a fourth one tomorrow. Take a chance or don't waste your time. It would've been 5 out of 5 is it wasn't for the crazy mouse.

Happy about it so far

Ive been using the computer now for 2 weeks and its great! Runs really fast and multi tasking is a breeze. Touchscreen works very well too. The only con is that the gestures and 'feel' of the computer is just not quite as good as the mac which is what I switched from. When shopping for a great cheaper laptop, I wouldn't hesitate to choose this Dell

Very pleased so far...

I have had a Dell for the past 6.5 years, and have been very pleased with it, so this is my second Dell. I am very impressed so far. I love the aluminum finish, and although it's a bit on the heavy side, I don't really need a portable laptop. I use it mainly to stream...Netflix and other tv sites. It buffers very quickly and I am pleased with the sound. The touch screen is very responsive. I think it's well worth the money.

Bought this computer in July for my daughter who is attending University. Well she got up this morning and the computer will no longer turn on. Lucky this is the first week of University. However she will not have a computer for a while because we have to go through the process of returning to the store and get the computer running again. This will take a few weeks and she will not have computer which is a must nowadays. Not very impressed.

Okay but nothing special

I was really disappointed that my computer was dropped off at a post office two towns away and not delivered to my home. I am also very disappointed that the computer doesn't work like I would expect a new one to work, it keeps shutting off for no reason and when you restart you have to go through the hard shutdown process. Also, there is no dvd drive! I didn't see anywhere in my order that clearly stated that there wasn't a dvd drive. What a rip off for the price. Don't waste your money..

Nice ... except ....

This is a nice computer and a great deal ... but one major issue. After a week of use it will no longer power on. Checked all connections and everything checks out. The thing has just flat out given up and died. Will be returning for a fix. Will update

Not Impressed

It stopped working after three days! For the 2 days I was able to use it, I found that the keyboard was really tiny and cheap feeling, not very comfortable to type on (especially vs an asus or tosiba.) The wifi was consistently getting one to two bars less than other devices in my home, or not even picking up connections, which I have heard can be a problem with inspiron laptops. There were other issues, but the bottom line is that it was just a hassle to use, and when I`m stressed out trying to complete grad school assignments, the that last thing I need is a finicky computer. It`s one redeeming quality was that it was pretty fast, but that wasn`t enough to overcome its other shortcomings. On day three it wouldn`t even turn on.

Pretty good

This is a pretty decent laptop. I got it the very next day after ordering it the night before which was pretty impressive. The inclusion of a number pad on the right side of the keyboard means some keys are squished together like the backspace and enter key which might annoy some people. It also comes with this facial recognition software that turns on the webcam a lot when it comes to signing into websites and such which makes me feel like I'm being spied on. I wouldn't pay full price for this but if you can get it [on sale] like I did then these things can be overlooked.

must buy

Got this laptop on sale and extremely happy with my purchase, especially considering I was willing to purchase it at full price prior to the sale. Fast, solid build, aesthetically pleasing and runs even skyrim smoothly. Very happy with my purchase

its worth the price

I bought this product just 10 days ago, so far so good. with the price its one of the best i7 4th generation laptop available. overall really. I would have given 4.5 but can give either 4 or 5. pros: powerful and fast, light weight, slim, touch screen is quite good but not a fan of touch screen for laptops(rather have it for smartphones and tablets) cons: keyboard not so ergonomically designed. its a good buy for the price.
