Overall good tablet, suited for serious work than just games and is a good substitute for a laptop is it uses the same OS and not dumbed-down afaik. Good value for money at the discount pricing.
I wasnt very happy with the product it was very functional ran too much like a computer i wanted a tablette not a computer
This tablet is too cheap. Great performance, nice resolution, and its a great mini pc. Nice one dell.
Great tablet.love display.the size is perfect .better than ipad.
Although works quite well, those huge pixels are painful. In 2014 (or 2013) an 8-inch device with a 1280 x 800 low resolution screen is severely compromised. 1920x1080 is the minimum useful resolution for an 8" device. Try hi-resolution once. You will never go back.
I love my Windows 8 tablet. It has replaced my android and playbook tablets. Only use my laptop for gaming or writing long reports or emails. Everything runs and loads fast! Comes with MS Office. Real multitasking! Can switch to another program instantly and not loose data. Using pc version of Google Chrome as web browser for chromecast plugin. No more mobile websites like on android & ios. Thing i hate most about surfing on tablets and phones. All issues mentioned in previous post have be fixed with bios updates as far as i can tell.. My only complaint is the lack of HDMI out; which were on my playbook and android tablet.
This device is pretty fast. Unfortunately it becomes very hot within 5 minutes of use.
I have an iPad, Samsung Tab 3 and now the Dell Venue Pro 8. I wanted a Windows Tablet and after looking around for the money and for a full Windows 8.1 this tablet can't be beat. The only complain I have is battery life. I'm still enjoying the tablet just have to charge it a bit sooner than my other tablets
this product perfect for me. regular windows and same time small and usefull. BUT problem is touch screen too much sensitive, update driver but problem not solved. i hope this problem will be fix as soon as possible
For its size, it is really a fast computer. I put in virtualization, running linux and XP smoothly at the same time,
let alone other small applications. Next time I will try running CAD and other simulations, too.
In addition, it produces so much heat that is very useful during this cold winter. It would be nice if it were waterproof
so that I can use it when it is snowing.
Every Christmas I knock my head on the wall to buy a gift to my computer husband this year I choose the Dell Venue Pro. It was the best investment I ever did. Let me explain; normally I look at my husband back because he is in front of his computer. Since Christmas, we are in the same room and when he need he just take is Dell and work from the living room. I love it. Thank you Dell for having windows 8.1 which is compatible with his computer. He keep telling me he is very happy.
Had the tablet for about 3 weeks price is reasonable compact. fast took awhile to get use to Windows 8. The biggest issue I have with it is I cannot use it for what I bought it for Unable to use a flash drive with data like Spreadsheets documents letters etc. Works fine for pictures and music but I don't need music and pictures when I'm working.
I bought it. Great price of [price]. Works well.
BUT ...but I also wanted the stylus feature for drawing/teaching ERD and DW diagrams along with notes. No stylus available locally, so I went to DELL and also bought a case. Both were on backorder for a month. Finally after delays beyond the month I called them. The stylus is no longer available. They didn't bothered to let me know before I ordered.
This is a true open system tablet sized computer, fully running Windows 8, and comes with Office 2013 Home, and all under [price]. Unlike an iPad you can add external memory, and I can actually stream movies / TV shows off my home media server right out of the box. Print to my network printer, remote desktop into my work PC. This is a powerful, versatile and inexpensive device.
I am in love with this thing. Reading books in a coffee shop with it or configuring my office server or doing VB programming.
Only negative I find is the best screen resolution, font is incredibly small. Without a stylus or bluetooth mouse, it can be tricky operating in desktop mode with just your fingers for touch. Very minor issue however.
Great value for a Windows 8.1 Tablet. Tough learning curve, 'charm' menu, but just another language to learn. I'm finding it easy to pick up and use. I added the case and keyboard directly from Dell, thinking about adding the stylus. The only issue I'm having so far, I'm finding it tough to update the device. Where is 'Windows Update'.
I can't believe this tablet is under [price]. Not only does it have Windows 8.1, but it comes with MS Office. Great value!
Bought this on the pre Christmas sale, plus a 64GB microSD card, all for just over [price] including tax. I had researched this before buying and also added an OTG microUSB cable for cheap. Booted it up and set up the tablet as per any Windows 8.1 computer. Surprising how fast this is too! A bonus is that Office 2013 Home is part of this so I have Outlook and key office apps included. I have set up a core of my favourite Windows apps including some older XP programs all with no difficulty. Have also connected a host of my Bluetooth devices, a mini keyboard, speakers and ear piece. Through the OTG cable I can connect a mini hub to read flash drives and connect a wireless mouse. These worked just fine. The tablet is very well built, solid, professional looking. Currently waiting for a 3rd party case and an active stylus from Dell which I expect will make this a perfect 8" tablet. The Venue Pro is early to the table and it will not be long till other makers start offering their 8" products. Nonetheless the price I paid for the quality is all excellent. Strong recommend.
I got this for the family for Christmas, on-sale and it included an app card. You also get full Office 2013 applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint & OneNote). The Venue 8 Pro does so much more than my daughter's IPad, as it is a full PC, and it costs significantly less. The Windows 8 Metro apps work beautifully on this device and all the Office 2013 applications work just fine on this small screen. However, some of my older PC applications are too hard to work with on an 8 inch screen but they do install and work . The Venue 8 Pro is first and foremost a tablet and comes with 32GB of storage but that is expandable with microSD. The processor makes this tablet fast and fluid and the screen resolution is very sharp. Great deal for the price
I have always been disappointed in the table computer market. Why? Because they really cant do anything but run apps. For a phone (whether it's Android or IOS) it's fine but for a nice size tablet? Then windows 8 came out in tablet form! WOW!!
This is a FULL WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM WITH A TOUCH SCREEN that runs A DESKTOP OS! Not some down scaled OS that really does nothing productive.
Let me put to you this way, imagine taking your home computer with you but in the form on a tablet!
I've been using this thing for the past 6 hours since I received it and let me say that this thing is powerful for what it is. It runs very smooth, windows 8.1 is wonderful in tablet form!
Wouldn't it be great to have a tablet without the limitations of IOS and Android? Well folks, this is it!! I recommend spending the extra cash on the 64GB version AND investing some cash in a 64 GB card.
I can't speak for the other reviews but this thing is full of positives. I'm running FULL MS office! Can you do that in an Android or iOS? NO! I LOVE Android, I have a Galaxy S4 but for a tablet, full powered PC in tablet form is EXCELLENT!!!
I researched the web and this tablet had very favorable reviews, which prompted me to buy it. As advertised, the tablet is of superior build and functions very well, almost as well as my laptop with an i7 core. Unfortunately Windows 8.1 still needs to mature to handle tablets and other non-PC devices, as there are many quirks when using it on this tablet. Here are the pros and cons thus far:
- Build quality
- Seamless integration to the Windows ecosystem
- Compatibility with Windows 8.1
- Most of the 32 GB memory is used up with OS; requires tweaking to store all files on SD card.
- Default resolution makes text difficult to read
- Single USB port for data transfer and addition of peripherals (keyboard, mouse, etc.)
- No video output
Great to see microsoft office included with this little productivity machine. Love the tablet for the price.
i bought this tablet during the flash sale, so it didn't come with a gift card. it's a great tablet for school work, comes with the full version of office, i order the stylus and keyboard cover from dell, can't wait to get it. what made me bought it was office, fantastic for taking notes in class, great battery life, ~6 hours on web and light video with office work. however, after 2 days of uses, the tablet would turn off randomly and not connect to wifi. so i contacted dell and they told me to exchange for another one, and it is a well known problem apparently. so i did and it works great, i can feel the heat on the back sometimes while watching a video and taking notes on word. 5/5 for school work, 3/5 for entertainment/games/apps, 5/5 for value and built quality 3.5/5. Great tablet overall, would suggest buying it over ipad or android for work. BTW i am a macbook pro user.
I needed a windows portable device and this is it! very happy with the purchase so far, it looks and feels good, sharp screen, good volume, good responsiveness. for the price, it is amazing! there's only one thing I did not understand, I went to increase the DPI scale on the desktop( to see everything bigger) to 300 % and then I wasn't able to minimize it again, making the desktop unusable. the icons are way too big and you cannot do much with it after that. So do not try that on yours! you may have to return it and exchange it.
still, that wasn't something you want to do on an everyday basis, i was just testing its capabilities when I did that. so I still gave it 5 stars. if this thing lasts for a few years, I could not be more happy. hope this helps.
I got this product on sale, and I find that it was worth every dollar. I love that it runs FULL Windows 8.1 rather than RT, so I can do basically whatever I want on this tablet. You sacrifice screen size for portability, but I'm ok with that. It is super light, and so convenient to bring around with me. I can watch movies just fine, download files with ease, and basically do all my daily computing with this.
I have been surprised to find so much performance in this tablet. The size is really good for Internet and for reading. I recommend this tablet. It comes with a real Intel CPU (Atom), so you can install any 32 bits applications.
Get Windows Tablet. Love the 8 inch display.
it's amazing product! You will be able to use all the Windows desktop apps like built-in mail, Bing aps and Nook or Kindle apps.
This is a great tablet!
