It works well

What can I say about the Dyson fan. The first words that come to mind is "it's a fan". When you buy this thing it's hard to get away from the fact that you're paying [price] more for this fan than any other fan you've probably ever bought. And what do you get for this extra [price], you might ask? Well, here's my low down after using it for about a week. 1. It moves air just as well as any other fan. Some will say you don't get the buffeting(think fap, fap, fap... no that's wrong. Think whap, whap, whap) that the large blades of a conventional fan can cause. I personally haven't noticed a difference. It's probably because I've never taken notice of my conventional fan whapping away or its never done it significantly enough to notice. If you're a human anemometer, however, this fan might be for you. 2. It's quieter than other fans. This is a nice perk, however, I can't say it's a game changer. You'll never say "Oh my God, this fan is so quiet I can hear a mouse pass gas!". 3. The novelty of having no external blades and being able to stick your head through the hole like you're in a horizontal human game of "whack a mole" quickly wears off. 4. The circular portion is all semi-flimsy plastic. Maybe it's just me but I was expecting a bit more solid build for the price. 5. Everyone will say "I've never seen one of these before" or "OMG, is that a Dyson fan? That's so cool!". If you're the type of person who thrives off of these types of comments being made about inanimate objects that you've spent your disposable income on... then this is the fan for you. 6. Design: It looks cool. 7. In order to use any feature of the fan, other that on/off(fan speed and twisty turny motion... I'm looking at you), you need to use the remote. So don't lose this sucker! So yeah... there you have it. It's a quiet fan that looks cool and works well. If you're in the market for a fan and have an extra [price] lying around this fan is a good choice. Your friends will praise it's absolute coolness(and then mock you behind your back for spending so much on a fan) and you will have a genuinely attractive piece of air moving technology on your desk. On the other hand... if you are the type to have this kind of money to spend on a fan you probably have central air conditioning and why do you need a fan then?

Pleased

Upgraded from the previous model. This one is so quiet. Hardly a bargain, so anyone spending the cash expecting it to be an air conditioner is going to be disappointed. If however you want a very stylish and absurdly quiet fan with no blades and air-buffeting you'll be extremely pleased. It moves a surprising amount of air, but not the same 'feel' of a typical fan. Holding up a tissue shows the difference fairly dramatically. My only complaint would be the price. It's expensive for what it is. But similar to Apple, you pay a 'tax' for the good engineering + pretty combo.
