I love mine! The picture quality is excellent although it did take a while to get the settings right using trial and error. In eco mode, the fan is very quiet but it is rather loud in normal mode. A big bonus is that the replacement bulbs are very reasonably priced compared those of other projectors.

Terrific projector

Just purchased this and all I can say is WOW. I got it home, plugged it in, and played a movie with the default settings. The lamp was very bright, no problem seeing the picture in daylight. In the dark, the picture was absolutely stunning. I'm not exaggerating that the screen resolution and movie looked better on my wall with this projector than on my 70" TV. In fact, I may never go to the theatre again!!! What I loved the most about the projector was the horizontal / vertical keystone, zoom control, focus, and built in stand (that raises the projector). No matter what angle I placed this projector at, I was able to get a straight picture that resized perfectly. I plugged an NVIDIA Shield TV into the projector, and the projector remote actually controlled the movie, volume, and everything! This is the perfect cinema projector for people on a budget and has some very professional features. Highly recommended.

Great Price and Great Picture

I picked this projector up over Easter weekend. A buddy of mine bought his a few weeks before the Super Bowl and the quality was amazing when we used it for the game. My in-laws also picked up this projector over Easter weekend. The setup took less than a minute and it's quite easy to adjust the picture, focus, angle, and different picture settings

Fantastic projector

Quality of the picture projected is amazing. Also the bulb life is one of the longest in the market with the most inexpensive replacement costs. I've tried the 3D with my PS3 and BlueRay movies and it works very well. Even on eco mode it is bright enough that you can watch with lights on. Buy this with confidence.

Does not have WiFi

I bought the projector to install it on the ceiling because the specification on Best Buy's website said it had WiFi (so I don't have to install expensive HDMI wires). This proved to be untrue - the model HC2040 has no WiFi. Only the HC2045 model has WiFi.

Description is wrong

It says it includes WiFi but it doesn't have WiFi. So if you buying it considering no wires, look for HC2045. Apart from that everything looks perfect !

Good value for its product

Not intended for places where there is a lot of light, I use mine in the basement and it works great, good picture, good colors, eco mode is nice too have, makes the fan a bit more silent, I have a 106" screen and the projector sits at 10' on the ceiling... wish it was 4k, other than that, great buy, would recommend as a first starting projector...

Epson PowerLite HC2040 1080p projector

Very happy with the machine. Light, good size. Sound quality is not good, but it is a projector. I connect my computer sound through my home stereo our via bluetooth to an external device for speaking away from home. Controls are easy to figure out. Remote has the controls as well so it can be easily used.

Love it! I originally had to return due to a defective item but that can happen to any unit. Got a new one and haven't had the problem ever again. For the price, you can not go wrong especially on sale. Full HD and 3D is pretty neat too! I highly recommend it!

I like the fact that I can view it in the day time without closing the curtains, Nice colours small easy to install it's throwing less heat compare to my older one.. I got on special that's always good to save a few bucks

Great Value for the Money

Bought this on boxing day with the Chromecast and the Elunevison 120" screen and I my only complaint is that the blacks (contrast ratio) could be better. Other than that, frame interpolation at this price range makes this a great value.

Very good projector -- great value

Have used the projector for a couple of weeks now and found it very easy to operate and to use its features via the menu. As I am using it to project movies in my living room, I am satisfied with the contrast level I can expect there. Audio from on-board speaker is not very loud but sound is just fine when using the audio-out to my Polk soundbar. Since I got it at a great price bargain on boxing day, it is a great value for the money.

Great Projector for the price!

I bought this projector to use in my basement on 106" screen and I am very satisfied with the purchase. I ceiling mounted this unit and if you do you will want to pay attention to the distance calculations found on Epson website using their calculator. Also remember the lens is not in the center for where to mount your bracket. The overall picture from this projector is impressive for [price] on sale. I would agree that in a dark room with a white screen that the blacks could be darker, but you would pay at least three times the price for a projector capable of that, if that is what you are after look at the Epson HC 5030UB. I have not used the 3D feature yet so can't comment on that, the gaming and 1080p experience was better than I thought it would be, image is crisp and clear with no noticed lag gaming. I primarily will use this projector for family movie night and didn't want to break the bank. I would definitely recommend this projector to a friend. Hope this helps someone that was himming and hawing the way I was.

Great picture, low lag

Rating: 4.5/5 Pros: -Fantastic colour, brightness and clarity with full 1080p -Near silent in ECO mode -Very little lag in game mode, without any noticeable decrease in image quality -Long lamp rating and inexpensive replacement bulbs Cons: -Only 2 HDMI ports -Black levels could be better -A little noisy in regular brightness mode -Quiet built in speaker Conclusion: If you're the type of person who wants to game on a budget projector, the Epson 2040 is the projector to buy. The picture quality is fantastic and there is almost no lag in high speed mode. Gaming on a 150-inch screen is unbelievably cool and I don't notice the lag at all - it's more than a normal computer screen but lower than almost every other projector currently on the market. While the black level could be better, the picture is more than acceptable, and there are no rainbow artifacts to speak of. The only reason it loses that 0.5 stars is because I wish that it had more HDMI ports! After connecting my computer and my game console, that was it, and for everything else I'll either have to buy a switch or just change them out when I change devices. It's not that big of an issue though, just a nitpicky detail. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and I would highly recommend it as a home theater/gaming projector. Robert D. DrekiTech

Look elsewhere for good image

I got this because it was on sale. If you have a lot of ambient light in your room, this is a good projector cuz it's crazy-bright. But as soon as you dim the lights and there's a dark scene, get ready to be reminded of the first LCD televisions which couldn't give you anything close to black.... but rather grey. I'm torn because the [price] replacement lamp is so tempting, you could run this all day as a big LCD tv. Just don't expect the cinema experience at night. I tried to be fair with the rating. it really depends on your environment whether you will like this projector and how much of a cinema experience you're after. I would definitely go for the Benq 1070 or Optoma HD26 instead once on sale.
