This case has kept my iPad Mini safe for three years through some fairly dangerous circumstances. It's superior to the Otterbox as I have had experience with both. The IOS7/IOS8 feature wear you swipe up from the bottom to open a small menu can be irritating to do sometimes, and the rubber is ripping in some places and the plastic has cracked in others. But it remains completely usable, looks nice, and has kept my iPad in top notch condition. Also, you can open the back cover to get to your camera, some less than intelligent people failed to notice this.

Excellent Case

This case was purchased for my 10 year old son as a replacement for the Otter Box case which we purchased 1 year ago. What I like about this case is that you have the option to either use the case with or without the plastic screen protector. We have chosen not to use the plastic screen as it is better touching the glass screen instead. We didn't have this option with the Otter Box as it's in the way the cases are designed. I'm not worried about the screen breaking as there seems to be enough protection in case the unit falls that the screen won't break. Although this case is a little bit bulkier, just a tiny bit, it gives you great grip. Also, the Otter Box has many very slim rubber cutout parts that have all torn as a result of putting the cover on and/or taking it off. I found my son was always taking it off. So you have to be a lot more careful when handling an Otter Box as opposed to the Survivor. For these reasons, the Survivor was a better option for us. One other point that my sister made, she has the survivor case for the regular sized ipad and the ipad mini. She finds that with the plastic cover on the ipad mini, you can't swipe or touch the very edges of the corners so it limits some game play. On the regular ipad, it's fine. I haven't tested this myself. She is also using the Survivor Ipad Mini case without the plastic screen. Her son is 7.

Griffin Survivor iPad mini Case

Great case - I bought three of them. One for myself and one for each of my grandsons. Not bulky and I like the screen protection. Just have to remember to open the cover over the camera eye. Very satisfied with purchase.

Solid, protects

Bought this for our ipad mini, with kids using/fighting over it, I was certain we would need a little extra protection. Works well, I would recommend it to others.

Griffin iPad mini Survivor Case

I bought this case because all the reviews stated that this was the best case on the market. Griffin has done an excellent job with this product. It went together in less than 5 minutes and everything fit my iPad mini like a glove. My concern was, will I be able to access the Control Centre from the bottom of the screen using iOS 7, like some people had issues with. This case did prevent access to the Control Centre and everything else works fine. There is a slight issue with light glare from the screen protector but that just means turning the unit another degree or two to correct the glare. No problem...great job!!

Perfect for everyone who might not be so gentle with their ipads. This case gives you the piece of mind that your ipad is going to be ok if you leave it with the kids (or the clumsy buddy). A little bulky but the trade off is that you know it's not going to break. Feels great on the hands.

Not compatible with new iOS 7 screen gestures

Bought this case yesterday. Loved it then. Updated to iOS 7 today, and I have to return this case. Now I hate it. In iOS 7 a new feature called control centre is now the only way to turn on AirPlay which together with an Apple TV lets you play audio and video on your TV. I use this feature a lot. Many other controls formerly accessed by taps of the home button now only work or work best through the new control centre. To access the new control centre you have to swipe up from the very bottom edge of the display. Problem is the slightly raised front cover on this case covers the entire bezel right up the the very edge of the display. This makes it impossible to to touch the very bottom of the display with your finger. You can get a finger nail on it, but finger nails don't work on the iPad touch screen. 1 star because beta versions of iOS 7 have been out for some time. Griffin had months to discover and fix this problem, but to this point have done nothing. Until they make a new version of this case with a larger screen protector and thus narrower bezel cover, this case is now obsolete.

A Good Case

The case itself is a good one, the only thing I don't like about it is the glare on the built-in screen protector. I've had a matte screen protector on my ipad mini before buying this case, so I was quite used to the non-glare screen. Now with the case installed, the screen just looks like a mirror. It really hurts the eyes. I wish Griffin can make some improvement on the screen protector part and make this case a flawless one.

great case

This case is fantastic. Very similar to my Otterbox case I have for my Blackberry with silicone/rubbery drop protection combined with protective cover for the screen. Doesn't interfere with any of the functions of the iPad, and makes it much easier to grip and handle. I've had it for a week and haven't had to test the water resistance or some of the other crazy claims, but I definitely feel like this could handle some abuse. Perfect for me. Oh and the little stand isn't bad either. It only props it up for viewing - not for typing. Only little issue.

Oh.... Bathtub how my i-products do love you!

I have to say one thing. I was silly enough to watch something on the ledge of the bath tub and the new dec 24, 2012 16 gig iPad mini went kerplunk into the bathtub. I quickly got it out of the tub turned it off yelled for the boyfriend to rescue me and wala it's like it was never harmed at all. I personally own a: iPad mini (bathtub) iPhone 4 (bathtub) iPod touch 4th gen iPod touch 5th gen iPod nano 6th gen iPad 1st generation And the survivor has saved the day. I know u might think its alot but if u are clumsy like me and drop or throw or drop kick the i-products by accident u will love this and it will save you hundreds of dollars so please plan to add [more] dollars onto the price of your products cause its better to save them then pay for the product all over again.
