Upgrade your Android OS

The Nvidia T40s CPU in this tablet is adequate for most uses. As a 4 core RISC CPU coupled with Nvidias 72 core GPU you should have no trouble with most web content, nor gameplay (remember, it's not primarily a gamer's computer). The Fuhu Nabi $550 tablet uses the same GPU. For those who crave more functionality, there are a number of website that walk you through upgrading beyond Jellybean. But hey, buy this for the screen!

An amazing screen on this - great for reading

I bought this primarily for reading - magazines through Zinio and NextIssue, newspapers through PressReader, and it is terrific! The screen is the best I have ever used (I previously used a Samsung Note 10.1 (2012), and the screen on that was horrible). That said, the processor is mediocre, it is stuck permanently with Android 4.2, and it has only 16GB of memory. So you are buying this only for the screen and the clarity, and its price is adequate for that. And it is nice that it uses a MicroUSB charger, unlike the Samsung with its proprietary and expensive one.

Cool Product

This was a pretty cool product. I initially thought it would be more like an iPad, but it was more like a Kobo Glo but with a glass screen. The home screen is very confusing.

Best Buy

Kobo has never let me down..I had a Kobo Arc and decided to upgrade for the larger screen. It is extremely easy to set up. It is almost literally a charge and go. For the price, it is a truly a great deal. It does everything other tablet do plus house your library and make book buying a breeze.

Completely satisfied

I purchased my Kobo 10.1 because I was so happy with my Kobo arc but wanted a larger screen. I am a believer in reviews so I hope this helps someone. I purchased my Kobo HD 10.1 around boxing day. It was easy to set up and use right away. The screen is bright and clear and the app selection on Googleplay is amazing! I lack nothing as far as reading functionality. I use it to study and underline and highlighting text when studying. Its perfect for my web surfing as well. Kobo has room for improvement though.. The battery life is sufficient but could be better.. the charger cord is a bit too short for my needs and the speakers could be louder, some have said its heavy but I actually like its sturdy feel. I don't regret the purchase. Its a great IPAD alternative.

A little box of AWESOMENESS

OK, that little red slider switch takes a little getting used to. :-) But this is a SMOKIN DEAL for an Android tablet, I now have purchased two of these, and given one to my parents and one to my sister. They have proved to be reliable and trouble free over six months of continuous operation. My ABSOLUTE recommendation is to immediately install the (free) Novo Launcher to replace that lame "Kobo Desktop" that comes with this. 30 seconds to install this! :-) Set your Android to boot with Novo Launcher, and you have a speedy full-featured (normal) Android Tablet! Some observations... yes, the speakers are not very loud (what do you expect for half inch speakers?) But the Bluetooth works perfectly, and drives any bluetooth speaker just fine. My Dad (who suffers from some hearing loss) is very pleased at how this tablet interfaces seamlessly with his little 'hockey puck' bluetooth speaker. No complaints about the Miracast, either.. this tablet streams beautifully to a Wireless Display Adapter from 15 feet away. Also, been getting very good wifi reception with it. And the hi-res screen is beautiful, and the touch-screen response is very nice. The 2MP camera takes decent quality pictures, and the mic is perfectly sufficient for skype-ing. Just strip off that veneer of "kobo desktop" (which basically tries to turn your tablet into an annoying full featured mobile bookstore!) and you get yourself a very powerful and RELIABLE tablet for about half the going price of similar hardware...

Nice tablet with one drawback not expandable

I purchased the Kobo arc 10 hd from best buy 2 months ago and I have no regret. I was torn between the Samsung 10.1 tablet and the Kobo but the Kobo won out. As a reader the arc is amazing. This ereader/tablet is also very fast and shows movies beautifully. Kobo is promoting reading so as you turn it on your library is in your face and suggestions to buy books based on your reading selections. I just ignore that and move on to the next screen. The arc is a sturdy tablet and you can get the sleep cover at on sale right now for $ 9.99. This is a great product too bad due to it's inability to expand many people will over look an excellent option to the ipad. At the correct price you have nothing to loose go for it.

shiny, but very breakable

This is the third Kobo reader I have purchased. The first two were the early e-ink screen editions. I was thrilled to have a new e-reader that was also an android tablet. For the two weeks I had it, I was very pleased with it. However, the screen cracked when I dropped the tablet, and is now completely unusable. (It will turn on, but constantly thinks it is receiving input from the touchscreen). Because it is physically damaged, it can be neither replaced or repaired (according to both Kobo and Best Buy).

Top-heavy tablet

I'm sure there must be a new medical condition called "Kobo-itis" as I have developed numbness at the top of my left thumb due to the weight of this tablet. It is far too heavy for holding with one hand as one might hold a paperback book and, as I primarily got into the whole Kobo thing as an e-reader, this is a definite flaw. Nevertheless, the colour graphic display is clear and sharp and there are a lot of other apps and widgets available that make this an appealing bottom end tablet.

Kobo arc 10

I am not an avid reader, but since I purchased the Kobo I find myself reading a little more each day. I love the fact that it gives you access to the internet and a wide range of apps. I am definately pleased with this purchase. Bonus was, I also purchased it on Sale!

good value if you can get it below $....

Can get anything with terga 4 and 300+dpi in 10 inch display. Good value. The downside is the above average weight and over sensitive touch screen.

Pretty nice!!

When purchased on sale this tablet is a very good deal. If you are looking to do some reading, browsing or watching videos, this tablet is up to the task. The screen is very nice at 300 PPI and it shows when watching HD videos. The touchscreen is a bit sensitive but responsive. The speakers are good when in a quiet room. If you are purchasing this tablet when it is on sale, then scoop it up. It's one deal you do not want to miss!!!!

Good deal!

I bought the Kobo ARC 10.1 for my wife as a Christmas present. When I was setting it up for her (gmail, Netflix, etc.) , I was quite impressed with the value of this tablet. Very good screen resolution and the processor speed was fine. High definition videos stream perfectly, and the battery life is very good. You should get about 8 hours on a charge. The power button is a little cheap, and there is no expansion port for an SD card. Only issues I have found so far. I liked it so much, I bought another one for myself!! When it is on sale for about $...., it's value cannot be beat. It is a solid tablet with above average screen.

KOBO Arc 10.1

The price is attractive however the battery life is not very long before you need to recharge. Also after only 1 month of use we have issues with the browser not responding at times. Therefore can't go beyond 2 stars for performance and overall due to the cheap price gave it 3 stars.

Great tablet marked as e-reader some places

got this in Dec and have been impressed by it's performance vs $$$. nothing in the price range came close in specs. Battery last well. Screen is visually good but not the most accurate for touching, sometimes have to zoom in to pick a particular link. Feels good to hold but like most tablets the speakers are not very loud and they are on the back. Not expecting any android updates but is the way it goes with off branded Android products. Overall it was a great purchase.

Oh, I loved it

Now one might think I am making this up but this is the best 10 inch tablet for any kind of user out there. The screen is sharp crisp and performance is well above the top of the line. The price or value is much lower than other competitors but the quality is THE BEST. Highly recommended.

Kobo Arc 10

I originally purchased the Kobo Arc 10 for a Christmas gift for my 84 year old mother. She absolutely loves it!! So, I then bought one for myself and one for my husband. Our neighbor also bought one. We are all very pleased with the Kobo, and are amazed at the quality and performance of the device. The screen is absolutely awesome! Incredible value for the price!

Great value. Touchscreen is tricky

I bought this because I was looking for a full sized tablet for reading, email, and internet. You won't find another 10" tablet with similar feature at anywhere near the price of this one. The display is incredible. The combination of processor and RAM mean that apps run very smoothly. One problem created by the high definition processor -- there are a number of apps in the Google Play Store that appear as not compatible with this device because they weren't made for a 2560x1600 display. I have sideloaded several of them, however, and they all work without a hitch. My only complaint at this point is that the touchscreen is finicky. Putting your finger on the screen to scroll down the page or through a list or menu sometimes gets interpreted as a click instead of the start of scrolling. So I've ended up opening things or making selections that I didn't really intend. Apart from that, however, this is an excellent Android tablet. If you're looking at it primarily as an ereader, you won't have any problems.

KOBO ARC 10.1" 4.2.2 TABLET

We celebrated our Christmas with family on the 26th. I got my 84 year old mother this item and she absolutely loves it!! So, today I ordered 2 more for ourselves...the product quality and value is outstanding. Very easy to set up and the 10 in screen is excellent!

Excellent tablet. Poor update history. If Kobo fixes this tiny issue, it would be a 5-star device.

At that price I can't really complain

It is sometimes a bit slow and I find the controls tricky (but I'm new to tablet use) but it makes reading comics a pleasure! I use it for school mostly instead of caryying around a million printouts of slides and PP presentations and articles I carry one light, small tablet. I love it.

Unparalleled value

The uber-hi-def screen is a standout, rivaling Apple Retina and Samsung Amoled. It's almost shocking to find a screen of this quality on a tablet priced [on sale] at $199. Impressive processing power under the hood makes the Arc 10 quite fast. A bit heavy, a bit boxy, but the back is well-designed and actually pretty cool-looking with a grippy coating. Biggest downside is the 16 GB non-expandable storage, but it's not a deal-breaker especially for anyone who prefers keeping their stuff in a cloud. Bottom line: solid tablet overall, ridiculously awesome for the money. At [price] there is no tablet on the market that comes remotely close in value, period.

Android fan

got one today with discount. it's fast, clear and good shape. Sound quality is acceptable. Brightness is not the best but more than enough. Kobo special pages can't be removed, no impact using though. This distinguish it a bit from Android tablet. It's listed in eReader category but actually standard Android. At about $200, you can't get any thing with 10inch 2550x1600 Tigra 4 in Android Tablet category. It's awesome price and performance. just a bit heavy comparably.

Great value

I bought it at a $100 discount. Its price will not be beaten by any tablet with 10HD 10.1" screen. It performs good, high quality. specific color. Its batery will last an hour and a half or so if performing high resolution videos. The only reason why not five stars is that it will make no response sometimes especially when the backgound hiding app is touched.

Possibly the best value in a large screen tablet.

At first sight, the Kobo Arc 10HD makes a great impression with a big bright beautiful screen and some funky geometric industrial design on the back. Aside from the screen and some decent stereo speakers, it's a little light on hardware features by today's standards, with only one (front-facing) camera and no slot for memory expansion. However, for the price it's hard to complain: what you're getting in terms of processing power and the other basics is competitive with tablets costing twice as much. And it's Android so you know you will be supported by a gazillion apps if you want them. Personally I bought this device primarily to read comics and graphic novels. It is pretty awesome for that purpose, able to display full pages at pretty much full size, with lots of contrast and saturated colours. My one complaint is the weight... but it's actually less than the pre-Air 1Pads, so it's still a fantastic value. Oh one more thing you might want to consider: accessories for this device are hard to find and not great. There are no screen protectors that I have been able to find on sale in Canada, and the official Kobo case is overpriced and looks cheap and flimsy. They need to take a look at K1ndle's brilliant origami case. Overall, highly recommended if screen size and price are important factors for you. Hope this helped!

Nice 10" Android Tablet

Great display, high-quality sound (listening in a quiet room), and solid build for a 10" tablet at this price (much less than 1Pad). A little bulky, but the non-slip back makes it easier to hold than many other tablets. Should ship with an anti-glare screen protector, as the glossy screen, typical of these devices, makes it hard to read ebooks without somehow dealing with all the reflections. Processor seems really fast for web browsing and watching videos - it's a keeper!

I really like this device! I still have to play around with it a fair bit more to figure out all the things that it can do, but so far so good. The only thing is that the speakers don't seem very loud sometimes, but that may just be me...
