Stopped working after a year

Mine stopped working after a year. The battery will not hold a charge, and in order to get it to charge, I needed to take the back off and disconnect and reconnect the battery. Turns out this is a common problem after a google search.

Better than Kobo touch

I love my Kobo glo HD. I decided to upgrade from my Kobo Touch which I've had for 5 years (and still love). This ereader is faster, and clearer, and doesn't seem to have the same issue with having to reload the pages in order to clear staining. I highly recommend this ereader. Unfortunately no vocabulary builder like Kindle, but gotta get a Kobo.

Best ebook I've owned

This was a replacement for my last one that was identical except in colour. The on/off button has changed but it is better to control than my last one. I love the simplicity of this unit and, after dropping my last one, I'm so glad I could get one similar. It is simple and easy to operate!

VERY BAD for reading PDF files.

If you intend to read PDF files (e.g. course notes, documentation), do not ever buy this. In fact, it supports it, but in a very frustrating way. First, when you change of page in horizontal mode, it changes the page completely rather than scrolling it down, as in Sony's discontinued e-readers. Moreover, the centering alignment in zoomed horizontal mode is screwed if you change page, you always have to readjust it, so you abandon and do not zoom and scrap your eyes. Yes, zoomed horizontal mode (the tablet is too small for healthy eyes). TO ADD EVEN MORE FRUSTRATION, scrolling down the page in horizontal mode is very slow because of the reader's refresh rate. At least, the "next page" button in horizontal mode should scroll down if the page's end is not reached yet. It is horrible how they imagine everyone will buy books and not read PDF nor other documentation. I had pleasure returning it, getting a refund and considering not going to Best Buy again.

So far so good

This is a replacement to one I lost. It is simpler to use and is working well so far. It does not seem to turn off, but just sleep, but the battery lasts for days so it is not a problem.

Replacement KOBO

As a replacement, it was very easy to set up, and start using. The On/off toggle is changed, and the new switch is "recessed". This means you have to hit it just right. The "page fwd" on the right of screen, sometimes pages back, even though you do hit the right spot. Possibly happens if you hit it on the right, but in the upper half. Screen is beautifully bright. Still, I love it.

4 years... RIP

After 4 years of extensive use, and many hours of reading, my reader finally died. Until the last month, when the battery needed charging more often, I did not have any problems. Needless to say, I am heading out right now the replace the exact same model

Goode e- reader

I returned my first Kobo because it kept flickering and turning itself off while I was reading. Frustrating to say the least. However, I did exchange it for a new one and so far this one works great. I prefer to borrow books from my local library and this device is perfect for me. Especially like the long battery life.

Annoying

This reader has served me well. I've had it for about three years now and it's a good basic ereader. Some things that I cannot get over is it's constant freezing. Overtime I charge it, read in the sun or the battery is close to dying it freezes. Even when it's finished charging i have to reset it once I take it off the charger. On a beautiful day when you want to lay in a hammock and read a book, you can't. It freezes then too. You can't read it when its charging because it freezes. So if you don't pay attention to the battery level and you go sit down for a read, you can't. The battery life used to be good, lasting weeks before i'd have to charge it again, but after three years it seems like every few days. And then it freezes, so I feel like I'm doing more charging than reading. I think it's time for a new one but I won't buy a Kobo again.

Love this e-reader!!

I bought my first Kobo (and used it daily) at least four years ago and while it still functions perfectly, I was intrigued by the back light feature so invested in Kobo Glo. So happy I have done so, love the smaller size and all the great features - back light for certain, and also the easy and reliable swipe to change pages, page thro my library, etc. While I am not yet comfortable with the layout of the home page (actually prefer version used on original KOBO), overall it is very easy to understand and use all the features of this e-reader. this is a great product that I would recommend to all.

Satisfait de mon achat

J'ai acheté cette liseuse pour un voyage dans les Caraibes. Ça vaut vraiment la peine pour lire en plein soleil. La batterie dure très longtemps.

It is a good ereader

It is a good ereader. But hope that the memory will be a little bit more like other Kobo tablet type product that have 16Gb of memory. If there will be a micro USB card reader on it will be much more appreciated. Anyway it is a good product and for the price that Kobo offered. Recommended to people who loves to read. It is a good choice to buy this product.

This is my first e-reader and I could not be any happier with it. It is easy to read, load with books and it's features cover all my needs. A great buy for the price and saves the planet from paper waste.

Best ereader for the money

Kobo is the way to go if you are going to invest in ereading. You have access to the huge kobo book store, you can load your own books onto the device, you can borrow from libraries, and you can even put and read comics on your kobo. The Glo HD is the absolute best product for the money out of the entire kobo line up. Or any other brand for that matter. The screen is the highest resolution (300ppi) using the latest e-ink technology, which is front lit as well. It also has all the standard features kobo is known for. For the price it just cannot be beat. Other comparable spec readers will cost A LOT more money. It's pretty much everything I could want in an ereader. Small and light, high resolution screen, front lit, you can load your own books, nice sleep cover available, it's fast and responsive, and the kobo infrastructure is amazing. All in all I'm very happy with mine.

Wonderful little book reader

This little unit is so wonderful with the deal to including the magnetic cover for free. The size is amazingly comfortable and small. I will switch to KOBO from Kindle, just for the free access to the thousands of popular titles available in the Ontario public library website. I cannot stress enough about the size of this unit. Don't let the photo fool you. This unit is about the same size as an blue-ray dvd case. I love it. I have been reading this little box since the two days ago.

Decent e-reader

We were lucky to buy this e-reader during the Black Friday sale. So far, we are satisfied. The device is small but it works well. The screen is lit and you can adjust the intensity of the light. The part I like the most is that I can opt out of wi-fi, as I am sensitive to some wireless devices. There are no buttons, so you have to swipe the screen to turn the page. This function seems to be a little slow, slower than on my old Sony e-reader. Overall, I have no complaints and I hope that the device will work for years to come. Thank you.

My New Kobo Glo

This is my second Kobo Glo and it is much improved since the first. The man in the Best Buy store was a great source of information and was very helpful. I needed an e-reader that was compatible with the Toronto Library system. The print is much sharper and it is much easier to use.

Wow.

I am pleasantly surprised at just how much i love this device. I love reading more. It is very light weight even with the case(i have the sleepcover, it is very nice) at first i though maybe it will a little to small to read books, but it is not, it is just right. You can pick the type of font size, line spacing, margins and what i really like is you can tap on any word hold for a second and you get options to highlight, google, wikipedia and a definition. Wow. I dnt know how many times i came across a word i didnt know and kept reading but not here. It is so easy to just read the definition it makes understanding the story more enjoyable. It is like looking at paper, it is not this bright screen that burns your eyes out at night. Has a very nice option to adjust the light which again is very gentle it doesnt shine in your face but rather at what you are reading, like a lamp projecting light. I owned a kindle couple years ago and this is so muchbetter (i get that this is newer) but this is just like the kindle voyage but way cheaper and i can get ebooks from the library free. I think this is a good investment if you love to read and want the most out of reading.

My first E-Reader, Great

This is my first e-reader, and I'm impressed. The text is super crisp, and it is great in both sunlight and reading before bed. The device is light and the back is nice and grippy. One thing I don't like is that there is a small shiny plastic strip around the bezel which reflects light, but it doesn't bother me too much. This is a big upgrade from what I used to use for reading books (a computer screen or Android tablet).
