Limit this Bad Boy to photos!

I purchased this item to use exclusively with music. From the outset there were many issues. It freezes constantly, won't load all your files from Albums ( many songs missing) The battery drain is phenomenal! It has to reorganize your library every time you turn it on. The litany of problems with this card reader goes on and on! Tech support is somewhere east of Russia, so one email per 24 hrs is about all your going to get. ( depending where you live ) Very disappointed indeed, and I can't even take it back due Best Buys restricted Return Policy.

Good product

I haven't had the reader long but I'm pretty happy so far. My main use at the moment is backing up photos off my ipad air. While travelling I use my ipad to dump photos to and to review. I've managed to fill 100gb+ of photos and videos and frequently end up having to dump some photos off the ipad to make room. I've had another wireless product which I've used to offload files too but it was larger and only worked via wireless therefore the transfer speeds were slower. The size of the Leef means it's easy to take anywhere and the direct lightning connect means transfer speeds are pretty quick. I didn't stopwatch my transfer but I copied my ~100gb of pics and videos to the Leef in a guess of about 4 hours. The ipad still had a significant amount of charge, well over half. If there were issues with the Leef burning up the battery they seem to have resolved that. The software is fairly basic but it doesn't really need to be complex. A few more features like better folder management or things like that would be ideal but not a deal breaker. The best part of the device is the use of micro sd cards allowing a ton of backup potential instead of the other Leef products limited to the onboard memory. The MSRP on this may be a bit high but at the sale price this device is well worth it and I'd recommend.

Updated review

Beth here again. Leef has recently updated their software for this product and it has taken care of the larger issues I had had with how this product functions. The picture transfer is very much faster. The battery drain, which I had forgotten to mention in my previous review, is much less - to the point that it is possible to watch a full film without having to pause and recharge the phone. And I have had some luck with it reading 64GB cards, though with larger video files rather than loads of pictures. The main reason I felt the need to update my review is that this product has become something I use every day. I've also just returned from a vacation, and it was very reassuring to be able to backup my photos on the go on two separate cards, just in case. I would highly recommend this product to anyone considering a Leef. The ability to swap out micro SD cards is a huge check in this product's favour.

Fantastic, when it works

I have had the Leef iBridge for about two months now and bought two 64GB microSD cards to go with it. Up until a few days ago, everything worked like a dream and it became an indispensable item for music and video playback during my daily commute, as well as clearing out my photo archive to create space on my iPhone 6. The qualms I had with it up to that point were small - I haven't found an option for making a music playlist (music files from all folders are bunched together) and photos do not have the original date stamp on them when on the iBridge, though that info does stay as part of the file. The detail that I wish I had known before purchasing this is that the iBridge only supports FAT32 formatting, whereas my computer will only recognize the 64GB cards in exFAT formatting. I discovered this just now, after two frustrating days of having the app grind to a halt whenever I wanted to play any file from it. The cards seem to work to a point, until a certain level of data is on it and then the iBridge runs impossibly slowly. I had two significant photo backups on one card, which seemed to be the breaking point. Had I known what I now know, I would have bought smaller SD cards or just bought the iBridge at the capacity I could afford rather than getting separate SD cards. I am currently reformatting the disks in exFAT and will pay better attention to the capacity that I use.

I like the idea of having extra storage specially for my pictures on my iphone, since iphone had no extra slot for memory card.

For people who wanna go for it.!

Honestly I really like the idea of this, buying this with 128GB sd card saved me a lot of internal memory on the phone. But what really bugs me about this now is that it gets kind of slow whole transferring even if you have a fast memory card. Or may be 128GB is a little bit of over kill for the device ? But that was he whole point of getting this device. Other thing is that it would have been great if there was a possibility of being able to save app data on the memory. Over all good for backups for your pictures etc if you get low on memory. And you can simply device to copy or move photos/ videos to iaccess memory. The app is user friendly but sometimes a little too slow if there's a list of pictures or thumbnails it has to load.

Not so much plug and play

It seems good in concept however if you dont have your micro sd card formated correctly and/or dont have Leef settings setup properly within the App that is used by the reader it is extremely frustrating! I still believe this is a viable device and if they had such a thing as tech support in real time it would likely make this unit more widely used.
