Huge disappointment

Within first month screen will be unresponsive for minutes at a time. Also after working for awhile apps will randomly open/close, random characters will type into google search, all without you touching the screen. Expensive paperweight.

Great tablet... when it connects!

This is my first tablet, and I have had it now for over a month. It is a great tablet... when it connects to wi-fi! Half the time it does not: I keep getting "Network connection failure". The wlan icon has two colours: white and blue. When I get the blue, things are great: it translates speech, and does amazing things. Even can use it as my magicjack phone. Alas! half the time or more, I only get the white icon. Then I have no connection. Which means that basically nothing works. As status it gives "connected", with excellent signal strength, etc. But no bloody connection: the tablet is useless. My laptop and my wireless connected desktop,do work perfectly, I guess I will have to spend a day trying to find a solution.

Why do I have so many problems connecting?

I have had the 16gb lenovo yoga for about 2 weeks. Being my first tablet AND my first experience with android, I am still learning to use it. Like everyone else commenting, I love the long battery life. And since I bought it on sale, extremely cheap. Moreover, being able to expand memory with a micro SD card gives it great capacity. It looks and feels good, but the rounded end at the base (is it the battery?) while making it nice to hold, makes it impossible to find a carrying case. Very crisp, clean screen, quite good sound. I downloaded the magicApp, to use with my magicJack, and sometimes I have echo or other sound problems when used as telephone. (My 16Gb Lenovo Yoga does not come with a SIM card slot). The main negative, is that often it does not connect to my home network, when my laptop and even the desktop have no problem. Granted. does drop signal way too often, but why can I connect my laptop and not my tablet?

Great tablet

I purchased this tablet for my wife in early 2014 and so far both her and I love it. It's not as fast as my Nexus 7 for gaming but in normal use its plenty fast, has a nice bright screen, loads of battery life and is easy to hold for reading/viewing. We've just ordered a second one for my MIL.

This tablet is unique and the best 8" tablet

This is much more useful than my Nexu 7 II, although the latter is noticeable faster. It's better if it has 2Gb memory but for the special price there's nothing to complain. Anyone will used to think a small tablet is useless, try this one!

Awesome Tablet

I purchased this during boxing day Jan2013. Before I was sold on it, I tested out 5 other tablets. What sold me: - Insane battery life - Great speakers - Feel + handle/stand - Processing power (Played videos other devices in the price range struggled HARD with) - Screen Resolution - PRICE (awesome boxing day deal) You will love this tablet, hands down. I ultimately chose this over the Samsung Tab3 Note: Order a case + screen protector

Excellent tablet

I bought Lenovo Yoga 8" 16GB tablet as replacement of eReader because the promotion price is the same as Kobo Arur HD. It is more than an eReader. I like the bigger screen and the longer lasting battery. Download application is pretty easy. What I don't like is the online user manual. I still prefer print hardcopy which I can read while study the device. It took me two days to figure out how the operation system works. Another weakness is the microphone. The microphone voice is very light. I adjust the voice volume to max, and then I talk like yell, my voice still sounds like a mosquito.

Excellent tablet for price

I was not a tablet guy, I don't like typing on a screen but since I bought chromecast I decided I'd buy a cheap android tablet. So far I'm loving it, very good performance, the sound is good, and easy to hold it vertically and type. I also decided to buy a Bluetooth keyboard, so now its like a small computer. I use it to control the TV, and mostly watch videos on youtube. or listen to music (with earphones). I like the design, I would recommend it to anyone.

Best value!

I bought this when my e-reader died, and thought it'd be just as good to use for this purpose. I have been SO happy with this purchase, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. My husband, an IT nerd has been very impressed with the quality as well, despite wanting me to initially buy a Samsung. I'd recommend this to anyone!!

A tablet to hold on to

I needed to replace my Acer Iconia tablet and the Yoga 8 was similar in specifications so I ordered it. Boy am I glad I did. Somehow this is faster and smoother even though it rates slightly less. The sound is great from the 2 front facing speakers and the displays view angles and quality are also better. The feel in the hand is revolutionary in my opinion. The first tablet I've been able to hold effortlessly and see all and hear all the tablet has to offer in any position. The little flip out stand combined with the large base design makes this the most functional tablet on the market I'd say. I'll leave my review at that but will add my recommendation to buy or at least try the Yoga tablet. Glad I did.

So far I love it all, the only thing I wish to improve would be a more friendly handle surface. It is cool to make it by aluminum, but that makes it slippy and cold, I prefer some rubber cover on it.

Best Tablet period

Bought this tablet because of the price on sale at BestBuy and I am just so happy with it. Was a bit concern because there was some negative about the screen. I have been buying a lot of portable device in the last 10 years and normally something about it makes me regret the item. Whether it is battery life, connectivity etc... This item is absolutely amazing works like a charm Bluetooth, wireless, connecting to computer etc... It just works. I have Samsung note3 and I love it but there is always issues with connecting to computer or connecting with Bluetooth I mean always finally works but just always little pains here and there but this table just works at everything it does it does well. When my wife saw this tablet and how well it worked she wanted one to replace her Note8. Personally this is the first time I review anything but just had to with this it’s just great great tablet... Battery life, are you kidding me…….. amazing

Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet.

I wanted to write this review to make people aware that the Lenovo Yoga 8 tablet is a great all rounder tablet. The performance is good & the battery life is great. The style is a hit and miss, some like it and some do not. Unfortunately the biggest problem is the screen quality - colors are muddy at times and not vibrant as the more premium tablets. I would have given this tablet a score of about 4.5 out of 5. But I decided to give it a 3 out of 5 mainly because the tablet always has at least one bad pixel. I am surprised that no one has mentioned this before. Back around January 2014, I ordered one as it was on sale - when I received it, I noticed 2 dead pixels. I exchanged it for another one hoping that it will be good, but the second one I received had even more dead/stuck pixels. I hope with the later manufactured batches they do a better job with the quality control on the screens. If you were lucky enough to get one without any dead pixels, the tablet would be a keeper as it has better battery life than most tablets and well rounded for the price. I would have kept it if the screen did not have any pixel problems. To test this, look carefully at the screen on a plain white background and then on a plain black background. (I made sure it was not dirt/dust either)

Handy Kickstand

I was drawn to this tablet because of the screen size, long battery life and unique shape. I plan to use this tablet for travelling and wanted a long battery life. It has been lasting for 9-10 days per charge. This is with light use and leaving the tablet on stand-by. It loses very little charge while on stand-by. There is a special app on it that monitors battery useage and estimates how many hours you have left. The app also optimizes the settings to conserve battery power. I like the 8 inch screen size. I do have a 7 inch tablet, the extra inch on this tablet makes a huge difference in screen size while the tablet size is still manageable. The screen is nice and clear, the colours are good and it is very bright. I actually wish it would dim a little more because I don't like it too bright when reading ebooks. I have another tablet that the screen goes a little dimmer on it's lowest setting. The shape of the tablet is unique. It has a cylinder shape along one edge. It makes the tablet very comfortable because you have something to hold onto. At one end of the cylinder is the power button. It is nicely recessed so it is almost impossible to hit by mistake. The power button also has a notification light (something lacking on either of my other tablets) The kickstand is great because it allows the tablet to stand by itself. Underneath the kickstand is the micro-SD card holder. I added a 32GB card and downloaded all my music. It plays music from the card fine. There is a Dolby app so you can tweak your sound settings. The speakers sound OK, about what you would expect from a tiny speaker. It has a few quirks, that are a little annoying, but not deal-breakers. When you delete an app shortcut it actually deletes the app! I also have not found a way to create folders on it (I might be missing something). When you set wallpaper it shows both on the lock screen and home screen. I have not found a way to have 2 different wallpapers (something I can do on my other tablet). I mostly use the tablet for surfing the internet, checking email, Youtube videos and ebook reading. Everything runs fine on it. I haven't had any problems with lag, although I'll admit I am not really playing any heavy-duty games.Overall I feel the tablet has a nice balance of price, performance and long battery life. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Yoga 8 Tablet

Not a bad tablet, nice to hold and handle. Not very good for fast based games, you can see the lag. Battery life good, sound can be louder but the two speakers are better than most tablets. Tablet is good for an older person who likes to read and watch movies but not good for kids that like fast pace games. I would not pay the asking price, its probably worth closer to [price] or less.

Lenovo Yoga

I was looking for a tablet to use mainly as an e-book reader, and this tablet surpasses my expectations in terms of the tablet design and battery life. I was able to read a book and use the internet browser during several ocassions for well over ten hours without needing to recharge the battery. The tablet is also unique in that it is very easy and comfortable to hold as a book. I think the screen quality is better than some reviews say. Overall performance is satisfactory for the value. The only thing I changed is the launcher interface, otherwise I am very pleased.

You Won't Be Disappointed

I've had my lenovo yoga for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. The built in stand is a marvel and not awkward at all. I watch Netflix on it without any problem, facebook is a breeze, and now that I have a reading app there is no problem reading books. It is my go to toy when I leave the house and expect appointments to take longer than they should as it helps pass the time whether I want to play a game or read a book I've downloaded. Google play has a wide assortment of apps available for free or small fee. I would not hesitate to recommend this product.

Very Happy

Bought this as an open box product, so price was fantastic. This tablet replaced a first gen color ereader. While the screen specs do not differ from the older e reader, the processor speed is a considerable improvement. Very happy with Video streaming performance and the 8 inch screen looks great for my books as well. Have owned the Yoga for just over a week now and have only charged once. I highly recommend this tablet.

Go with a Lenovo YOGA, you won't regret it!

I looked at lots of reviews and lots of tablets before I picked the Yoga 8 inch. I am thoroughly impressed! Things that helped my decision: I use the tablet mainly for browsing. The 1280x800 display is very sharp and bright and is very responsive to touch. Being an IPS screen, it has a excellent viewing angles. Compared to my old 7 inch tablet that had 1024 x 600 resolution, this one is much easier to read. I don't have to get reading glasses after all! The 8 inch form factor is just that much better for reading. Although there are full HD displays now available on 7 inch screens, this doesn't help with using the tablet for day to day activities. It makes screen fonts on web pages very small, so you have to zoom anyways. Yes, HD will show a marginally sharper photo image, but already at 1280x800 in the 8 inch screen you can't easily see pixelation. The battery life is incredible. Several days of running time with several hours of activity on it each day, including browsing, skype call with video, watching tube movies etc. Certainly between 12 and 20 hours in-use battery life. The dual front firing speakers are pretty awesome for how small they are. The kickstand feature is a HUGE plus. It's SOOOO nice to be able to put the kickstand out and watch a tube video rather than holding it or propping up somewhere. When folded it makes a great hand hold. With the kickstand in, you can also set it out on a table and more easily type on it. Sturdy stylish construction in aluminum metal. Great build quality. Quite light. With the quad core processor it does every normal, day to day function without lag. Very snappy and responsive. Sure it's not a beast of a processor, but you'd really only use that if you were trying to use it for intense games, in which case, why are you using a tablet in the first place. The front/web cam does a great job (e.g. with skype). The main 5MP camera operates quickly and smoothly. Picture quality is on par with other tablets. Hold it with the grip on the top side for best handling when taking pictures and movies. The android 4.2 is just fine. I've used several versions of android and the differences between 4.0 to 4.2 seem very minor and mainly focused on user conveniences. Very very highly recommended.

Good value for money

I got the lenovo Yoga 8" a month ago and have been pleased with the design, style and performance. It picks up the wifi well even though the router is in a different building - I couldn't be happier about this. The quality of the screen is great, the speakers are definitely passable and I like how it feels in the hand compared to othe tablets. The only thing I noticed is that the touch screen isn't as responsive as an ipad, but I'm paying half the price so i really can't complain. Otherwise my experience is comparable if not better to the ipads I use at work. The long battery life is a definite PLUS!

Great value, great product

The battery life is beyond excellent. 12+ hours! Very fast and responsive. Even the speakers are great (very little bass, but that's to be expected) and have a capacity for higher volume than most. I'm a Nexus guy all the way, but Nexus doesn't have an 8" screen, and this was too good a deal to pass up. Extremely happy I got it.

Very nice design - not an iPad rip-off

Most of the Android tabs out there are styled to be like the iPad, but the Lenovo actually pushed forward the design a bit, moving the weight of the tablet to one side so it is easier to grasp and hold in different orientations, plus it gave them the ability to put in a small stand which I find very useful for table top typing. I find the 8" screen a good compromise between the too small 7" and the too heavy 10" screens. Not excessively loaded with bloatware either (there is some, but tolerable). Battery life is pretty good under normal use. Very happy with it.

Solid quality, great price, great product

I bought this tablet over one month and I love it. Its stylish design, easy holding, super long battery life, smooth operation, I really love it. Many free great Android apps. Strongly recommend to everyone for a wise purchase. Someone before said the micro SD issue: if you pushed a little harder you won't get it back. It's some misunderstanding there. You just use you nail and push it again, it will pop out easily. It's all micro SD slot designed for. :-)
