useless night vision quality

We bought this monitor to replace another Levana that died after only 8months of use (battery pack wouldnt hold a charge). The night vision on this monitor/camera is horrible. You can't see anything. I have tried adjusting the brightness and moving the camera around to different locations within the room. It's just useless in a dark room.

Levana Lila basic video monitor

I was very excited to receive the Levana Lila video monitor. With 3 kids, 4 and under, our house can get very busy and loud. Having a video monitor in my infants room allowed us to play anywhere in the house , with eyes on the baby. We could see if we were being too loud and she was stirring or if she was asleep or awake. Our youngest was born premature, so having eyes on her definitely helps give us peace of mind. The parent unit is small and easily portable. The picture quality is not bad as well. The most important feature that this video monitor is missing is the ability to move the camera (up, down, sideways) using the parent console. Whenever my daughter would wriggle her way to the other side of her crib, she was out of view. This made the product less useful for us. If I moved the camera further away, in order to see the whole crib, it made her face too small to see due to the lack of zoom feature. Overall, it is a good basic video monitor. I was disappointed with the lack of useful features.

Levana Lila 2.4" Digital Video Baby Monitor

The image quality of the Lila monitor is excellent however, we have found that the image can degrade over time. We found adjusting the brightness of the LED night vision lights restored the image quality but does need to be done nearly every other time you turn the monitor on (if you want to maintain the image quality). That being said, the image quality is still very good even when it has degraded. The battery life of the monitor appears to agree with what is specified by the manufacturer. The sound quality needs improvement because (1) it distorts your baby's cries and (2) when using the talk back option you need to talk very softly into the monitor as the sound that comes from the camera is very loud. We primarily liked this monitor for the PEEP option however, we have not been able to take advantage of it as we use background noise to help our little girl sleep and it sets off the PEEP, so the monitor is always on. It would be great if you could adjust the sensitivity of the PEEP. Overall, we are very happy with the monitor but wish we could make use of its full functionality.

Overall Great Piece of Mind!

After just a short time using this product, I could tell that it was going to be a huge help, especially as a nervous first time parent. Pros: - Video Quality: Being able to watch your baby is always comforting. With this monitor, the picture quality was excellent! I was impressed by the quality of the night vision and the vividness of the colours when being used during the day for naps or play time. - Sound Quality: Like the video quality, the sound quality is also excellent! The sound levels allow you a wide range from quiet to very loud, depending on how closely you want to hear the baby. - Battery Life: The battery life was pretty impressive. On some days I would use the monitor through the night, and during the day for naps, without having to recharge. My recommendation is to plug the monitor in while you sleep. - Mobility: I found it very easy to relocate the camera to a play area during the day, and without difficulty place it back in its spot near the crib. - Monitor size: I thought the size of the handheld could have been a bit larger, however it is comparable to most other monitors in that it is easy to hold and move around. - Ease of use: Unlike some other monitors, this one doesn't have all those complicated symbols which usually crowd the screen. Just a few important symbols such as battery life, camera number (in case you are using more than one camera), volume and signal strength. The buttons are large and easy to use, especially in the middle of the night, and although there are no words on the menu screen, the symbols are easy to navigate. Cons: - Point of View: Unless you have a shelf in the exact spot you need the camera to be to view the entire crib, it was very difficult to set up the camera to get a view you are comfortable with. I ended up putting the camera on the ledge of the crib because it is big enough, but at times the baby was not in view. For this reason, I found myself readjusting the camera very often. - Brightness/Darkness in the room: There is a 'grey area' where if the room is not dark enough, but also not bright enough, the screen will appear dark and you wont be able to see the baby. If the room has dark out blinds you shouldn't have this problem. Overall: I would definitely recommend this product to any parents or caregivers who like the options of speaking to the baby while they are waking or sleep training. The feature of speaking to the baby through the monitor has really come in handy. I would even consider purchasing two monitors, one for the crib and one for the baby's play area, if you intend to leave the infant at play, when they are old enough. It's always comforting to be able to watch the baby even when you have stepped away.

Iove it

Really love this monitor, my favorite part is how it has the 2 way talk feature, so if baby is fussy you can hush them without going into the room. The only thing I would change is to be able to move the camera around via the hand held monitor remote.

Simple & Easy

Basic baby monitor for parents to use if they don't want too many bells and whistles. Does the job, can hear clearly on the two-way microphone, picture is clear and sets up in less than 3 minutes. Downside is that you cannot remotely adjust the video-eye, you have to do that manually.

Excellent Simple Monitor for Parents

This is a great monitor for new parents that want to keep an eye on their baby. Sound on two-way is crisp and clear. Screen is small, but does the job. Very easy set up, took less than 5 minutes! Highly recommend!

Good monitor

This monitor is very good. It has really good video quality, both during the day and at night. You can adjust the volume of your baby, so it's not too loud, but you can still hear them if they need you. My only cons about the camera is that the power button for the camera itself is on the actual camera and not on the base, so if you're turning the camera on or off, you're more than likely going to shift the camera's position. The other con is the low battery alarm for the monitor is quite loud. If you're asleep and it goes off, it's quite startling. Other than that, it is a very good monitor and I'm quite pleased with it.

This is a great product.

The sound is very clean, even able to pick up the kids in another room. When the light goes out the monitor switches to night vision right away and you can still see all details. It has many different sensitivity settings and I love that you can hook up upto four camera for if you have multiple kids.

Like it!

As a first time mom I really like this monitor and the assurance of being able to see baby. The camera is a good size and stylish to be in the nursery. I like the pivoting head on it but wish is could be adjusted remotely. My favourite feature is the compact size of the monitor its easy to carry with you as you are doing chores while baby sleeps. I would definitely recommend this product.

Levana Lila 2.4" digital video baby monitor

I would definately recommend this monitor. The picture and sound on the monitor is very clear with no delays. The battery life is about 6.5 hours and recharges very quickly. The set up was easy with very simple to follow instructions. I tested the distance and it goes beyond 500 feet without any service interruption. The one complaint I did have was that the monitor did not have a stand or ability to stand on it's own.
