42 inch LG Plasma TV

Very pleased with this television. Takes awhile to break in after first fired up (maybe 20 hours or so) but after that even the standard settings look good. Has a nice feature set including a picture wizard setup that gets really close to the settings from my fancy picture setup DVD. Size is just right for a smaller living room like ours so you don't have to sit 15 feet from the TV. We run audio through a seperate system so I haven't tried the sound. Aside from that this is a very good TV that I would reccommend to anybody looking in this size range that will have a better picture quality than a LCD or LED (and more viewing angle)

Excellent Value

I couldn't believe the value for money that this TV offers. From owning a tiny LCD TV to purchasing this 42" plasma, my expectations have definitely been met and exceeded. The TV has beautiful picture quality with true-to-life skin tones. The sound is deep and rich. I've never had to increase the volume beyond a 9 or 10 for a full, comfortable sound - and the TV has a full volume limit of 80! There are a variety of settings that can be adjusted to make the TV perfect for individual tastes. The only drawback that I've noticed is that the TV runs slightly hot when it's been on for a while. But plasma's generally run hotter and take more power than LCDs/ LEDs. This plasma has built-in Smart Energy technology. The design is also very slim for a plasma.

Very satisfied

This TV offers great value for money as my bedroom TV. Top picture quality and good sound make it a perfect choice. Only wish it had more outputs - another HDMI or AV would be super.

LG 43" Plasma TV

Excellent picture and sound. The 720p resolution is crystal clear for my purpose, which is to play DVD cartoons for our two boys (regular and blue-ray). One new feature is the power button is located on the left side of the TV and not visible from the front, so we have made it clear that the new TV can only be turned on with the remote control (which is kept out of reach). This has put an end to the annoying game of the boys turning the TV on and off a dozen times in a row to tease each other or to annoy their parents. Would definitely buy this TV again.

Great TV for the money

I just bought a Samsung UN55F7100 series 7 Smart TV and the LG 42PN4500's picture is noticeably better than the Samsung, The LG was supposed to be my bedroom TV. The price of the Samsung LED is 4x the price of the LG Plasma. You can't beat the value that the LG 42PN4500 gives if you can live with fewer features

Boxing Day Sale - On-Line Purchase - $348

I ended up buying two (2) as the sale price with delivery included was too good to pass up. The plasma picture quality is excellent. Features and product description was too basic. HMDI connections limited to one at the back and one at the side. The first TV was delivered the next day!!! The second took about 5 days to deliver. Overall I'm very satisfied with this LG product and purchasing experince with BestBuy.

Great TV for the price!

Pick up this Plasma on Dec 24, pre-boxing day sale... had it shipped to me which took less than a week to arrive... BUT, the bottom of the box was torn up... luckily, no issue with the TV. Last time I have a TV shipped to me! As for the TV, WOW... the picture is AWESOME. Sound quality is not too shabby, but I had to play with the settings to get it just right. The ONLY downside is that there are not many "connections" available on the back. 2 HDMI and EITHER a component or composite can be plugged in... I have a Bell FIbe receiver in the HDMI, DVD in the component... but now my VCR is useless! Oh well... that's what low price tech is all about... I would definitely recommend this TV to anyone, hands down!

LG 42" You Got What You Pay For

Set up was easy. Picture quality was excellent in the Cinematic mode. HD format was crisp and sharp. Sound quality was good also. The salesman did mention that there will be a further price drop on plasma TV near Christmas. This price right now is very good already for a 42" TV. It is not a high end model, but good enough for everyday use. I did notice some low level buzzing noise emitting from the TV when it is not in use. Quite bothering. I had to unplug it during the night. I would have given this TV a 5 stars if not for this troubling noise. LG should be able to improve upon its plasma technology to avoid such a nuisance.

Excellent Picture Quality

I bought this plasma TV a week ago. The price is good for a 42" TV even though the salesman suggests that there will be a further price drop before Christmas. The set-up was easy. Viewing sporting events, even with its 720p, is more than sufficient. All you have to remember is that you need to use the Cinematic mode to get the best viewing quality. You can also easily adjust the contrast, sharpness, brightness and tint etc. through the on-screen menu. Overall, a well-built TV, reasonably priced, excellent picture quality and manufactured under a brand name that supposedly will last for many years to come.

Best TV I ever purchased

This is the best TV I ever bought. The smoothness of HD content is great and images or text is very clear. It looks way better than my 55 inch LED 3D TV @ 120hz. TV is best viewed at 5 feet or more and viewing angles are very good. Played some PS3 and had no ghosting issues, colors are very vivid.

Great tv for the money

Everyone else has said it in their reviews - great tv for a surprisingly low price. Bought a Roku player which - in my view, is better than smart tv (roku 2 xs for [price]) with a combined price much lower than the same tv with all of the SMART features. Highly recommended.

LG 42PN4500 Is an AMAZING TELEVISION

This TV is amazing, simply amazing. TONS of features, is ISF Calibration ready. Picture is amazing. Make sure you turn the contrast ratio down for the first 100-200 hours though since its a plasma. Has anti burn in technology which is awesome. I cant say enough about how great this tv is. and for the price you cant beat it!

Not a smart tv but fantastic value for the money

Very few features other then media player and picture display but that's not what your buying it for.. The tv has excellent picture and easy to set picture options.(no blurring no ghosting) Very slim basel makes the tv look fantastic and i have yet to see a dead pixel on these tv. The media player plays quite a few codecs without stutter or pause. If you want a smart tv you can buy a android tv stick for about 70 bucks and get more smart tv options then the 8000 tv. Great value for the money and don't sweat the 720p vs 1080p since its darn hard to notice the difference unless your within 5 feet of a tv.

Buzzing noise.

Returned due to load buzzing noise when on. Picture quality and color were excellent, and motion was clear and smooth (it's plasma after all). Note that the resolution of the tv is 1024, not 1280 or 1366, so it's not really 720p when it comes to the pixel count. This means you see some flickering on content that is very clear (example in HD, text has a bit of "blockiness" to it).
