3rd failed unit, waiting 2 months for LG to process return authorization

The first one I bought, the display was flickering at night even when turned off, but it was otherwise working, so I returned in fearing some problem with the control electronics. The second unit was fine for two weeks, then started making a rattling sound when the turntable rotated. It got worse and worse, so I returned it. Thinking this was just a fluke, I bought another unit of the same model number. That one rattled even louder than the 2nd unit, and after about 10 days the interior light went dark. I have to use a flashlight to see what's booking now, due to the dark non-stick interior. I guess it doesn't need to be cleaned if you can't see inside. LG demanded a video, so I uploaded a couple to Youtube for everyone to see. You can look it up if you search for 'dying LG 1531 microwave' It's been two months and they have not authorized a return. I know someone who bought the stainless steel version, and it's fine.

Worked for 14 months

It worked great, but then 14 months later it stopped applying any heat. Luckily LG authorized a return.

Touch Panel is WAY TOO DARK!

Cannot see this panel at all. Wish I could return it! The open button is hard to push too feels cheap. The only thing I like is the inside "easy clean"

Senior's Observations

Overall, seems to be a good product. Easy to use, except for one glaring deficiency: the key panel which is hard to read with small font print on a dark background.

Easy to use and reasonably priced

After 4 months of use the light bulb burned out and there is no way to replace it yourself..LG call center easy to deal with and simply had to return it to Best Buy for a full replacement because still under warranty.

So far, so good

Have only used a few times but it seems OK for our needs. Very quiet, I like the curved interior, but don't care for the dark colour. The controls are a bit hard to see but not a big deal. Did potatoes perfectly using the sensor feature. We don't do a lot of real cooking by microwave, but this seems fine for popcorn, potatoes, melting butter, reheating leftovers and beverages, cooking fish fillets, etc. Our old one was a Panasonic that lasted 30 years. I'm not expecting that kind of longevity with this one, but we shall see!

This microwave SUCKS

We had this microwave for less than a year (about six months). We take good care of it, clean it regularly, don't overuse it etc. It worked fine for about 5 months. Now when we open it it blows the breaker all the time, and then today it had actually sparked with actual flame and smoke. LG customer service is absolutely USELESS. Worst customer service I've experienced in quite some time. They are not planning to replace or repair our microwave even though it was registered and it's been well under a year since purchasing. If I could give it zero stars, it would be a more accurate rating. Best Buy has kindly agreed to replace the microwave. Which is nice of them, but they shouldn't have to cover for LG's idiocy. I wouldn't recommend this microwave in any way.

A Fine Oven with Hard to See Control Panel

Nice looking. Rounded interior a step forward, Perfect size for my counter and the price and Best Buy delivery very good. Only negative so far is the inability of all manufacturers to come up with an easy to see control panel display. One almost longs for the simple mechanical dial of the past. Mean-time I refer to the picture in the manual which sits atop the oven for quick reference. Yes, I could aim a ceiling pot light at the controls and likely will do so. As for actual cooking, I have found so far I require a learning curve greater than two or three weeks.Learning to compensate when using the various modes might just prove disappointing. Under-cooked or over-cooked seems to be the norm for me right now. Consequently I am often resorting to guessing time and entering the pad with guessed seconds or minutes. I use a thermometer to ensure safely cooked foods. Possibly too many features on this oven? I hope not and am determined to make them all work for me....eventually. I also like how the oven cooks meals evenly!

Dissapointed with features

I had this same (or equivalent) model of LG microwave for last 7 years and so when it died I decided to replace it with another because I liked the features and size of the previous model. However this new version's sensor cook is inferior to the old model. You no longer have options to choose quantities like how many cups of vegetables, how many potatoes etc. And they did away with the reheat selection which I really liked for reheating casseroles and dinner plates. The sensor heat isn't great, as the food is never done. I have to keep putting it back it for longer whereas my old microwave worked perfect. This model is much quieter however and I still like the round interior for cleaning. I also dislike the ugly grey interior as I preferred the brighter almond color of the previous model. Overall it still gets the job done and for the price it will get the job done

Very Well Designed Product

This Microwave operates so quietly and is pretty easy to use. Has a well designed interior with rounded corners for easy cleaning. Only had this for one week but already I can see it's better than the last two Panasonic microwaves that have burnt out on me in the past 3 years (will never buy a Panasonic one again) So far so good and no complaints. Big enough in size and more than powerful enough. Has some good auto programs.

Quiet ,great sensor system

We have only had this for a few weeks but so far so good. The sensor cooking does fresh vegetables perfectly. The sensor melt feature for melting chocolate is also excellent
