Won't power on out of the box

I just purchased this tablet six hours ago. This tablet just WILL NOT power on. I've been charging it since I bought it thinking that the people in the store gave me a piece that they had already run the battery to death. It just won't charge or power on. I bought this from Fairview Montreal. I'm going back tomorrow and detail my disappointment.

Unbelievable

I cannot power on. I go through the user guide but nothing can do. I take time to return the Tablet on tomorrow. I visit Best Buy 2 times within 24 hrs, waste my time.

had no problem at all

Good for my use, overall very good quality for the price.

very disappointing

Ordered online and after 2 consecutive defective products received, I gave up. I had the same issue with both orders: none of the tablets would power on, no matter what I have tried. Finally, I had ordered a Samsung similar tablet (LTE) and worth all the extra money!

stay away from this tablet

Sadly, I had to return the second order for the same reason: could not even power on. It may have been bad luck, but will never buy again LG electronics.

Headache

Since this tablet was updated to nougat, it has had nothing but problems. Random reboots, wifi not working, screen scrambles etc.

Very very cool and useful

i bought and use this as the interface for an aftermarket sony stereo (headunit), and it was exactly the finishing "touch" i needed. The OS is updated to Android 7.0. I get split screen on all applications, i get 256gb (i understand i can go to 2 tb of storage) of combined storage (SD and micro-USB) of high resolution music that i can play via bluetooth or via a wireless hotspot i have set up. I use a wireless charging system so i just pull the tablet out for use when i'm not driving. Pure Android OS on a high resolution screen can't be beat by any OEM infotainment system. I also have a data plan that gets heavy use to date (still trying to figure out why the tablet is much more data hungry than phone. Well worth it.

Two months of solid use - NO complaints

I find this tablet every bit as user-friendly (if not MORE user friendly) than my iPad Air 2. The full-sized USB port is an awesome feature for both file access AND transfer; - I only wish apps could be stored/run from the MicroSD card. Holds a charge for a very long time and the display is great. Would definitely buy again.

best 8 inch tablet deal

This tablet is surprisingly feature rich for the price. Only complain is the quickkey default to black/white reading mode, so very easy to turn the screen to b/w. Diable or reassign it to another app like Camera fixed the problem. Hard to find anything in this price range with 2GB memory, FHD 1080p screen, adoptable storage thru SD card and LTE thru nano SIM. I was able to popped in my SIM from iPhone and it automatically uses the correct Rogers APN. Oh, Nougat is available too. I had no problem to buy it without Fido/Rogers plan.

Great Android Device

This is a perfect tablet for the price. I've tried every budget tablet on this market and this is my favourite by far, it feels comfortable to hold on either angle and the display is great. Love the reading option as I frequently read e-Books and it's much easier on my eyeLoaThe speaker is great, too. And what a bonus tie be able to use my Fido SIM card and text on it! Highly recommend.

Adoptable storage supported

I picked this up a few days ago and just wanted to mention that you can enable an SD card as internal storage. It does require ADB and a few commands, but not that difficult. I had a 16gb micro SD card from another device and wanted to test it out, works like a charm.

Fast and smooth tablet

This tablet rocks. And to answer Tristan, no. At least here in Montreal I didn't have to sign up for a phone plan.

Best Value on the market

I bought and used it for 2 months. It's been a good device carrying around for all purposes. It features MS office, so I can do an assignment. The screen has high resolution for its price range'. And also it features screen blue light which could be harmful to my eyes. I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Excellent Tablet No.1

It has all function you named within this LG G PAD3.8. Not only tablet PC with perfect eReader and 1920X1200 screen, but also cellular feature. What you want your computer doing, it can complete. File manager, USB to your 2T HDD, and even it can control your TV directly as your TV remote through IR instead of WiFi. Excellent device!

Very good 8" tablet

Screen resolution on this 8" tablet is excellent, fairly light in you hands. This device only have one speaker even though it would appear to have two speaker grills. The qpair allow you to see your incoming calls or messages from your phone if you pair the tablet to your phone. You do not have to sign a contract with Rogers/Fido in order to use this tablet on wifi, tablet uses a nano SIM, so you can pop in your nano SIM into this tablet to use your data. Be warned this tablet is likely locked to the Rogers/Fido network, im not with Bell/Telus so i don't have their SIMs to try. I bought an after market case that offers auto display shut off however the tablet does not include this feature, so you'll need to manually turn off the display first. Still using the built in 16gb storage and have not popped in an sd card, this all depends on your storage needs. It does include a full size usb port but haven't tried it out.

The best buy at Best Buy

For the price I was skeptical, but I read what I could find and decided to pony up the cash and replace my aging Nexus 7 with this shiny new LG G Pad 3. I am not at all disappointed, excellent screen, super fast, great battery life, UI is near perfect, just enough LG features to make it fun without bloating, heck I would buy one again if I could figure out why I should have 2! Now if I wanted to nit pick, I would mention that it doesn't support automatic screen shut off when the case (bought separately) is closed, or that there is no wireless charging built in, and, well, yea, that's it. Nothing else to grip about. If you're looking for an 8" format tablet this is the one you should be looking at, forget the price, just think of the extra cash in your pocket as a bonus with purchase!

Not too shabby...

I got this LG Tablet for just that...don't need the Rogers\Fido. Had a Nexus 7 for five years.\,but the battery started getting slow, so time for an upgrade. Love this new LG..it's fast, the resolution is awesome..the sound through headphones is really good...what's not to like...and the price was right. You don't need Rogers just to use the tablet...

Impressive

Purchased with fido plan, this tablet works great. Brightness, speed and fluidity of the interface are all pros for this tablet. Reader mode is great too, allows for night time reading without making you feel overly alert in late hours. One con is that it has 16gb rom (not ram which is 2gb, fairly fast) and won't allow for applications to be installed on the SD card. What that means is you have about half that capacity already gone for installed os & applications. So you have about 8 gbs to install other apps. It isn't a deal breaker but hopefully lg would update their system to accommodate installation of apps on the SD card. Other than that the tablet is sweet and runs smooth with resource intensive apps.

Locked to Fido

The device is locked to Fido. It is confirmed, and BestBuy cannot change it, even if you ask. I bought the device for the full price, no contract. I inserted "Virgin Mobile" SIM card, the device demanded "SIM network unlock PIN". I came back to BestBuy and asked what is wrong with it. The salesperson said that the device is locked to Fido, and BestBuy cannot changet it, but I can do the unlocking for some fee elsewhere. I returned the device for the full refund. It is surprising that BestBuy sells the device locked to Fido without being explicit about the fact.

Not Recommended

Recommend AGAINST this. Extremely heavy bloatware. Burns, on average, 75% of the memory when idle, with no tasks killer (partly the fault of Marshmallow 6.0.1). Apps constantly running in the background, including phone apps. Put a SIM card in - no access to phone. Now it's completely frozen on: 'Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped'; there it will remain until the battery dies. Manufacturer of no help so far - requested assistance on poorly functioning website, claiming to respond within 24 hours, two weeks ago, no responce. Other potential ways of getting in touch with them have been futile. When it was working, it was glitchy or would freeze. Icons on home screen reverse themselves at random. 'Octacore' sounds good, but my old Quadcore was faster and more stable. USB port is handy, wireless keyboard and mouse worked well. Screen picture sharp, but touch sometimes unresponsive. Returning it is a big hassle, of course and I am praying that Best Buy will be helpful.

Great Tablet

This tablet is quite good for the price. Great screen resolution, decent camera and good battery life. I was able to get mine using fido points. You don't need a sim card to operate the tablet which is an added bonus. Highly recommended if you want to buy a decent tablet at an affordable price.

Great Value

I use the Tablet for gaming, great video performance and the game never lags because of the fast processor. I've always had Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and this one is recommended to anyone.

Best buy ever

I bought this tablet in September 2016 for this extra price (not needed to sign with Roger) and that was the best buy of my life so far. The device works fast, the display has amazing resolution (even the back camera can work well if you are not pretty demanding for HQ photo). It has everything the tablet should have - light, bright, smart, fast :) The reading mode is also fine for reading during evenings in the bed.

So far so good...

I had been using an Asus 8" tablet for a while. I did like it but found that with only 1 GB of RAM the Android operating system and apps were sucking up the majority of it and it was becoming really slow. I purchased this item because it has 2 GB of RAM and found that it makes s big difference. Much faster than the Asus. So far so good although I do recommend buying a micro sd card as the operating system uses a large chunk of the internal memory.

Question

Im curious if you have to sign a plan with Rogers to buy this. The price seems very low for what you actually get. I just want a tablet the phone connectivity is of no interest to me and I dont want to sign with any company any of that stuff
