cannot access control page

i loved this product for the first month, easy to set up, worked great and great coverage. Now today, after a month, link sys planted something on my computer so i cannot access the control page to change passwords, allow users and such! now link sys wants me to contact them and sit on hold for 25 frigging minutes just to get back control of MY ROUTER!! STAY AWAY FROM LINKSYS!!! im a hostage from my own router!

Ok prodcut with some poor design choices

Did not like the top lip that extends over the back where you need to install the antennas and connect the cables. The lip makes it tough to get at things. Also, the antennas are poorly designed making it tough to tighten them. Install was ok once I phoned tech support to find out that admin is the wired password to change the settings. Should have guessed I suppose but it does not tell you that anywhere in the meager documentation. Works ok once installed but does not have the range of my previous router.

Too expansive

Very expansive for what can offer. Limited menu compared to DLink. Not able to set a time limit for devices. Major problem: it is dropping the connection for no reason, need a lot of time to come back.

Everything you expected

Bought this when it was on sale in early 2015 for [price] as there was a typo in the flyer vs online . Easy to set up and install, mine is even wall mounted. Connection is fast, and strong on both 2Ghz and 5Ghz bands. However, for the price (even with my discount) I wish it had a longer range, but that's easily mitigated with signal boosters around the house/property. In summary, not worth [price] but worth approx. [price] in my opinion.

Good Router: Simple User

I have to admit, I'm a simple user that relies on native functionality to maintain my sanity. Features that are important to me: 1. Parental Controls 2. Ease of set up and maintenance 3. USB connection (backup drive) 4. Stability I installed this router bypassing the Linksys Wizard - I prefer going through the settings using the IP login. I've read about overheating, dropped connections, poor range etc. - I must be fortunate, because I've only had to reboot the router once in the last three months. I have approximately 25 wired and wireless devices connected at all times (iPads, network printer, PC's, iPhones, smart appliances, Playstation). Works well in the background and no complaints from my family of users. My only gripe is that the price isn't justified, and the 5Ghz range is not great. Unfortunately, I have it placed in the corner of the house in the basement, so it's more a user setup problem, than a router issue. Overall, very satisfied.

Super fast, great product

Great dual band router, the speed on both networks very fast. I replaced an older Linksys wirless router. Set up was simple and fast. The range is amazing, I highly recommend this router.

EA6900 Quit After 6 months usage, disappointed

I have been using linksys routers. WRT160N-CA, E3000-CA, and I picked up this Linksys EA6900, Version 1.1 ( AC1900) during 2014 Boxing Week Sale. EA6900 was easy to set up and lasted 6 months. Then Wi-Fi stopped working. Top LED stopped working. Hard rebooted router several times, and did not work. Reformatted the router several times, did not work. Called Linksys Support and reported two issues. First issue is the LED stopped working; second issue is Wi-Fi stopped working. The packaging box mentioned 1 yr limited warranty. Linksys Service Support mentioned to me that they only offered 90 days warranty. Linksys asked for US$30 up front charge (through Credit Card) before looking into any issue. I think this is a rip off (US$30 to fix a poor quality product and not sure if the fix will work). I rejected the offer since I did not detect any obvious concrete solution to fix the problem. Poor quality product will remain as poor no matter how you fix it. It will not be a product redesign fix. I am giving up hope with Linksys product from now on. I reinstalled my old E3000-CA for current home use. And I am starting to shop for new router from other manufacturers, no more Linksys.

Linksys AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Dual Band Router

Purchased Smart TV and signal from previous router was not consistent. Router was recommended by Geek Squad installer. Installation was not difficult, just followed directions. Performance surpasses my expectations as Wi-Fi signal now reaches all areas of the house and is available when we are outside the house.

Great Router It wasn't Shaw

For awhile now my cheap N600 Dlink router wouldn't even give me a full wireless signal (2.0mps) Called Shaw almost daily thought it was them! And I am in a smaller apartment. Thought I would try a Cisco brand Linksys brand will never buy cheap Dlink Radio Shack brands again. You get what you pay for. A 200 dollar router should work as it should and it does! This one has a Beamforce technology so when the distance is farther is sends a better signal. Very happy easier to configure had this for a few months now..

Somewhat Good

The router in my house is really not well place. I've tried using a cheap router (TP Link). The TP Link offer a great speed, but was not reliable a all. I've had to reboot it at least once a week. Not with this router the speed in my house slow down a little bit, but everything else is perfect and stable!

I finally decided to upgrade my home network and decided to spend a little more for stable and reliable signal. This router does not belong in this price range. Did not recognize any USB drive together with poor and unstable signal. [...]

Poorly Built Router

Went to BB on Boxing Day for the Netgear NightHawk router and it was sold out so I convinced myself that the Linksys AC1900 was a good compromise considering it was on sale for $[...]. Boy, was I wrong. The Linksys was a breeze to setup and had a few neat tricks with its Web Interface (Media Prioritization) but after putting it through some rigorous testing for 2 days I discovered it is simply not a well built machine. First off the Linksys has a weak signal and even with 4 out of 5 bars it has the strength of maybe 1 bar. The 5Ghz network was very weak (more than you'd expect from this weaker frequency). I had our 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, laptop, Xbox 360, Samsung Galaxy, and WDTV connected and while watching Netflix on 2 devices simultaneously I wasn't able to transfer a file from my HDD that was connected directly to the router. Well, I was but it was painfully slow and timed out a few times. I moved the Linksys to a different location and seen a very modest improvement but after 2 hours of research I found out I was facing the same complaints of other customers. Then it got very hot and I had to turn it off for a while. The USB 2.0 port also didn't function right out of the box. There is a speed test built into the interface and will track the history. My 20mbps internet was only clocking at around 10mbps DL and 1.9mbps UL. I returned to BB and was able to get the Nighthawk at [a different retailer] (sorry BB) and was quite shocked at the results. Setup was just as easy and have not had to restart the router once. The reviews on CNET and PC Word say it all. The extra $[...] was definitely worth it and I put it through a similar test and was able to watch NHL game-center on my iPad, stream Netflix on the Xbox and my wife's iPad while transferring a 1.2GB movie from the networked HDD and the router didn't hiccup once. Simply a very solid, well built router worth the price and a compliment to every home network. Used a speed test on the internet and it was clocked at 20mbps DL and 1.95 UL which is exactly what my ISP tells me my speed should be. I couldn't be happier and the extra $[...] was a hard pill to swallow right at Christmas time but well worth it.

Linkseys router

I have owned D-link routers for years and did not have any problems. I bought this router thinking that I would get a better range. Not so! I can't get to the Linkseys' page most of the time. I had the hardest time getting a connection to stay for the longest time and speaking to support was just as aggravating.

It's a good router

I don't have much experience with routers other than the ones from Internet providers. I sometime worked from home using VPN. I have experienced constant WIFI disconnections. Technical support couldn't help me other than recommending their high end routers. That was why I bought this one when it was on sale. I have been using it for a week and haven't experienced any issue with the new router at all. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Expect Constant Disconnects with this Router

Do not buy this router. It constantly disconnects and drops the wifi signals. I bought this router less than 1 year ago and I gave it a full complete try. I tried everything such as playing around with all settings, restoring to default, different channels, using 5ghz instead of 2.4 ghz, calling support and setting specs with linksys expert, replacing unit, etc.... I was patiently waiting for patch to come which would resolve this disconnect and poor signal issue but yesterday I finally gave up and decided to order a D-LINK router instead. I called their tech support maybe 5-6 times earlier in the year when my router was still under warranty and I even had the unit completely replaced. When I replaced my router, I even asked linksys if I can get downgraded to lower model (AC1600) but they refused to do so. This AC1900 router is complete garbage. Hopefully this review convinces other people to stay away from this router. FYI, I ave now switched over to a D-LINK DIR-810L. Hopefully my experience is better with this router.

IT Professional

A 10/100/1000 router with g/n/ac, works great. The interface is limited, but acceptable. Remote app works great. I would recommend this as a second best option for range. Great value for a proper mid range router. You can spend more for better WiFi if you really need to. Any other WiFi routers before this just wont be as reliable.

Faster, More Range, Minor Improvements Needed

Had an older Linksys e3200 and wanted to upgrade with trade-in. Much Much Faster, Better and Farther Range, pretty quick setup but could be challenging for some people. SmartWifi Webpage does NOT format properly to work fully on Safari or Firefox Browsers. Love parental controls to block content but they need to add a Keyword Search Blocker, not just Sites. Router apps are not overly useful yet.

Poor Connectivity but buggy firmware.

I am happy because I bought this on sale for few dollars but now regretted it so bad. This AC 1900 version is terrible in connection. I am constantly rebooting the router as I keep losing connection. It gets really annoying. I have updated the firmware with the latest but no use the problem is still there. I will be returning this router it is not worth buying. It is pricey than any other wireless AC outer out there, and it fails to deliver the best if not excellent Wifi connection.

Great Product!

Very easy to install, just make sure you have the login details of your ISP handy and input them before creating your SmartLinksysWiFi Account. Once you do this, it's as easy as plug-n-play (if you skip this step it's a headache). Great web interface, very intuitive and easy to navigate. We run a web agency and often times have over 20 guests with full time navigation, plus 10 in-house devices with full video streaming/conference, online gaming and VOIP. Smooth continuos signal on 3 floors. We love it! Our kids are thrilled with their enhanced online gaming performance but hate the scheduled access feature :-)

High price but worth it

I wanted the range, speed and ability to access the router over the web (has USB ports in back for memory) and I got it. That said it has created a noisy hiss in back of my CPU when it's working. Definitely fast however. I'd let the price come down a bit.

I really want to like this router, but...

I hate reading online reviews that simply put the lowest rating in each of the categories. They always seem too unbalanced to me, but having said that I don't think that this review is unbalanced at all. The EA6900 makes some great promises on features but simply doesn't deliver. After unboxing the router and installing it, I was able to get the initial setup going, but not 100% as I could not associate the router with the site, which is essential to take advantage of all the features of the router, including accessing the configuration dialogues. Essentially the whole process is over complicated. Perhaps if I had a dynamically assigned IP address from my ISP this would have gone a bit smoother as I could have used the "wizard", but since my IP address is static, I couldn't choose this option. After spending some time with Linksys support (now Belkin BTW after their purchase of Linksys), I was able to flash the router to the latest firmware and get it configured. Now after having it installed for a couple of days, we're still experiencing intermittent WIFI connectivity issues, random drops, and overall poor performance. On top of it all, my 1TB WD My Passport USB drive (one of the most popular USB drives on the market) isn't recognized by the router. Frankly I expected more from a [price] access point. I will be returning it later today and exchanging it for an ASUS. Hope you get your firmware stuff sorted out Belkin. This really wants to be a great product.
