Ok...still need inprovements

RE6500 is a very stable wifi range extender. The problem is first time setting up and one done all is good. Few cons to mention on the 1st one or top is technical support 24/7. It's available but, half of the time no one knows what they are doing. The best is trial an error and you are your own witness. 2ndly follow the instructions that you have on that small book and once setup check the room/area which falls under the green zone bar - very important, to get the best extended and fast internet coverage. So in short it does surve the purposes. They are a lot of wifi-range extenders and so far the cheapest and best is Linksys RE6500.

Junk

Out of the box, simple and fast to setup. Also had great signal. About 4 weeks into use caused network issues and now does not produce Internet access but still allows connection to unit. Tried returning product after 6 weeks without extended warrenty, so you can guess how that went. Had Linksys products before and had similar outcomes. Highly do not recommend!

Do not buy

I bought this a few weeks ago and overall I am very disappointed with RE6500. It has NO WHERE NEAR the range it advertises. I placed right smack perfect in the optimal zone and as soon as I get to my deck, the signal piratically dies out. I have factory rest the thing and the problem still persists. DO NOT BUY.

Beta firmware only way to use Netflix

It's bothersome that I had to jump through hoops, calling support, sending emails, and installing beta firmware to get Netflix to work. It's a widely known issue to users of the RE6500 but Linksys seems to be dragging their heels in simply releasing a proper update to address the issue. The hardware works alright, providing decent range.

Problematic Firmware

Bought this before I realised there was a known issue with this extender and Netflix on Android devices using the network. Apparently, a special beta firmware update that you have to jump through hoops to get is the only way to resolve network problems and get Netflix working. I'm going to bother jumping through those hoops, but I wouldn't exactly call this an easily set up device because of it.

Works Well, Causes Interference with WD TV Live

Great little unit so long as you're not using WD TV Live network devices. Using this Linksys extender for any channel on 2.4GHz causes interference with my WD TV Live devices which causes them to go into perpetual boot-loop. Have found others with similar issues regardless of firmware used. Only solution is to disable 2.4GHz channel for Linksys - defeating it's purpose. Still working with Linksys who is more responsive than most technology firms - will see if they can find a resolution.

Great product and easy setup

It took me less than 15 minutes to set it up (including firmware upgrade) via it's menu, especially consider this is my final exchange product where the other brand I've returned (twice) wasted over a day to setup and eventually bricked. It's got better range and transfer speed as well. May be I used to Linksys configurations (all my other series of routes are Linksys) but still the greater product I would recommend.

Very useful product , very easy setup

I am always puzzled if not amazed by reviews claiming how bad a product is, or how hard it is to set up. There are certainly no shortage of reviews panning this Linksys RE-6500 range extender. My own experience proved just how easy and foolproof the device is to set up. One minute was about all it took, and it worked perfectly from that point on. Documentation was totally adequate. It's hard for me to imagine how the setup could in any way be termed difficult. I suppose there is always the possibility of one's computers or even one's network causing compatibility issues. My main use for the RE-6500 is in utilizing it's 4 ethernet connections for devices without wi-fi capability being used in a remote part of the house. In this regard, the unit works flawlessly. The range extender function is only a bonus in this application. The only caveat is not knowing how your specific setup will react to the unit. But that's the case with any add-on device. Highly recommended.

Easy setup, good coverage in a bungalow

Worked immediately after setup which was straight forward. Finally solved the wifi dead spot issue at my parent's bungalow after years of poor wifi coverage. We placed this device in the middle of the house and it extended coverage to the far side of the house. Well worth the money for anyone struggling with spotty or slow wifi.

Review for Linksys Max Wi-Fi Range Extender

Since my house was insulated with foil-backed insulation I found it hard to get a good Wi-Fi signal outside on my deck more than 5 meters away from my router. After installing the Linksys Max Wi-Fi Range Extender, at the opposite end of my house from the Wi-Fi router, I no longer have this problem. I can download E-Books within seconds, access web pages instantly, even send music to my TV via Wi-Fi using Google Chrome and blast the music over my sound bar loud enough to hear it anywhere on my deck! As for people having problems with installation I can only suggest they hook up a computer via the Ethernet port of the Range Extender, wait for the set-up screen to appear, and type your router password (dual-band in my case) into fields for the 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands and you're done.

Don't waste your money!!!

Made with cheap plastic that breaks in the slightest fall. Documentation that is TOTALLY inadequate. Web sites are given that don't exist anymore. Web page for PHONE CONTACT that don't provide a phone number. Showed up in iPhone but would not load a web page. Did NOT register with "Network" in Windows Explorer. I can't get it to work!!! And I'm not a novice to computers Useless!!! Good luck if you buy it!

Simple and Effective

Plugged this in at the far end of the house and it installed itself on the network. Providing complete home coverage and into the yard about 60 feet away. Wish I had bought it earlier..

Wi-Fi extender

I am a bit disappointed in the product. It was easy to set up, but does not improve the reception that much. Our house is only 1500 sq ft. I put the extender at the back of the house and just sitting outside on the patio, 2 feet from the windows, the reception is still not great.

Effortless set up, works perfect

To hook up with my Linksys router is so easy. Press the WPS button on the Extender and router, they sync or link up automatically. When I move my extender around the house, it takes a minute after plug in to power to link with router again. This extender can handle dual band router so you can have dual band transmission. Very happy with the purchase. The extender uses the same SSID as my router. My wireless device is smart enough to pick the router or the extender depends on which has stronger signal.

Works Great

My modem is in the basement. The second floor reception of WiFi was very weak. Until I installed this unit. No software to download. Simply pugged it into receptable and within minutes signal was strong throughout the house and on backyard deck. Definetly worth the price. Extremely pleased with delivery. I ordered on Saturday, mailman delivered on Monday. 5 / 5 from me

meh

This extender works great. As for the advertized coverage, my Netgear WP2000-rpt is better, and doesn't even have external antennas. Pricewise, Netgear is the way to go.
