Easy setup, great coverage

All my devices (four iPhones, an iPad, a computer, printer, and TV) connected seamlessly. Easiest set up ever. Wifi range is great and the web interface is easy to understand and use. No issues with streaming content simultaneously on a number of devices. Overall, very happy.

Port Forwarding not working

I've always liked Linksys. Used the brand ever since. For a change, I bought and tried a TP-Link AC1900 to replace my old Linksys that went dead after many years -- but brought it back because it was dropping connections every now and then. So I went back to my Linksys brand. However, what a big disappointment -- been fighting with this Linksys for 2 days to get a VERY SIMPLE port forwarding for my server. Could not get it to work at all! I am a technical person, and this model is a junk when it comes to that option. Could not find any fix or workaround to this on their Linksys website either. If you are planning on doing port forwarding and putting a server behind your router, DO NOT BUY this. I am returning this and probably look into another TP-Link model.

Challenging setup

The product works well, but Cogeco blocks some of the sites used by the auto-setup program. So, it needed to be setup manually while not connected to the internet. Otherwise, it works well.

Gives you the distance!

Two story 2100sq foot home + basement. Have the router placed on the top floor, not ideal but that's where I have most of my electronics. The ac2600 gives up nothing, my furnace room has wifi and good wifi single at that! I tried the dlink1900 and still could not get signal in the basement. For the [price] can't go wrong! Toke me 30 min to setup and that's with naming every device on my network.. dlink1900 was [price] less but it's going back tomorrow, not worth [price].

Recommend

Easy set-up, strong signal coverage and control software is simple and easy to use. We used to use a range extender with our old router and this new router provides the same coverage without the extender.

MU-MIMO Technology is a Game Changer!

This easily the best router I've ever owned. The range and speed is the best you can get at this price point. Buy it now!

Great Home Router!

It took me a while to get going with this device as the lag, speed and connectivity were not consistent at first. My ISP changed the modem for me which resolved the lag issues, and then I updated the WLAN drivers on all of our laptops to stabilize the speed and connection. Don't forget this second step, technology is always changing and your devices might need new drivers and/or firmware to work well with newer generation wireless routers. I haven't experience any stability issues since. My internet connection tops out at 175+Mbps, and with the EA8500 in my basement connected to an AC wireless card I can get this speed anywhere on the main floor. My second floor speeds are constantly between 140 and 175+Mbps, and only slows significantly in the bonus room (30-80Mbps) where storage, electrical, central vac and part of the garage block the signal. As a second floor comparison, my old EA4500 only managed 8-30Mbps, while a Hitron modem/AC router managed 12-80Mbps. I haven't done any simultaneous multi-device load testing with the router, but I am completely satisfied with the basic speed and range performance.

Finally, a Stable Wireless Router!

I've gone through a few routers over the past couple of months, trying to get one that be be stable, and reliable. Before I got this one, I tried the following: WRT1900ACS TP-Link C2600 Netgear R7000 Each gave me problems, with either poor range, disconnects, reboots to restore functionality, or all the above! It's been almost a week now with the EA8500, and I've had absolutely no disconnects, or reboots required. Range is good, however, I needed to cover a large area, so I decided to cascade two EA8500s in a LAN to LAN configuration, and now I have full bars for the majority of my home. I'm tempted to install some open source DD-WRT firmware on it, but the configuration is working so well, I don't want to mess with a good thing.

Not as good as I was hoping/expecting.

I have an old Linksys WRT router and it was not up to snuff on Range or Parental controls. Both were important to me! So I bought this without any way to verify claims and as it turns out, the range is better, but NOT MUCH, and the Parental Controls are arguably worse (to me). In my old Router, I was able to turn off 'batches' of devices by adding their MAC address to a list, now I can't. I have to turn them off one by one. which is very long and arduous. If I get mad at the kids, it takes me forever to shut them down. On the flip side, I can do it remotely now, but using the online account they have - which is a bonus. It was not easy to set up. Lucky I'm advanced - there is no way Grampa could do it. Also the design appeals to juveniles, at this price, people with real money, class and taste are buyers. Thank god its in the closet. Hope this helps you.... Buy something else.

TRIPLED my speed

My "designer shoes & purses": Some buy shoes, purses or big TVs to make 'em happy...mine is routers :) It seems every year or so I'm upgrading my router because I love speed. Well I've never really shared my "technology" recommendations until now. I just purchased this router and it has TRIPLED my wireless speed. INCREDIBLE technology that allows each client (phone, computer, ipad, whatever) to have it's own wireless signal. You don't have to understand the "tech" behind what it's doing...but I'm totally impressed! ONE THING: do not upgrade the firmware (as of this writing) - it will break your wireless connections. (again, don't need to get technical, but when you log into your new router, you'll see it has a firmware update - just ignore it until they fix and release a new one)

I have been using this router for the last 3 week and it has never dropped a connection since day one. Previous router had to be reseted at least once a day. I tried ea9200 first but at 5GHz experienced very poor coverage. ea8500 is a lot more reliable in my house.

Amazing Home Router

Amazing router. We had issues with the Wifi in the house. The old router kept droppiong and if someone was on Netflix, no one else could use the internet. This router fixed all our issues. There is no dead spots in the house. Signal is strong throught the entire house. Speeds are incredible. We can have 3 people streaming Netflix and internet doesnt slow down. The only downfall of this router is the price. It is very expensive. I had a gift card burning a hold in my wallet so it was a great purchase with it. But its not cheap. 4/5 Stars with the ONLY issue being the price.

Wireless to go.... fast

The set-up of the EA8500 was very easy and only a few minutes. The down side of the unit was that I couldn't connect to Google and Facebook. It took some trial and error, figured it that I needed to enable the IPV6 Type of internet connection. Apart from this I get excellent speed between my laptop and the router.
