AE6000 running on a iMac

Tossing up this review as it may help others. Bought this wireless mini USB adapter not knowing it wasn't compatible with my 2012 iMac (I mean, seriously, who doesn't have drivers for Apple products these days...). Determined to make it work, it's successfully running, and I am pleased. How it's done: Apparently, with a little digging, the mini USB uses a Cisco chip. You can use the Mediatek MACOS drivers for the MT7610U/MT7612U. Drivers found here: http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/mt7610u/ Run it, install it, done. As for speeds, people write reviews saying "it's slow" but fail to leave any supporting data of their findings... I'm seeing Tx 390Mbps and Rx 351Mbps (USB2.0 port) combined with Linksys AC1900 router. In layman's terms, I successfully moved a ~1.8GB file computer to computer over wi-fi in less than ~2 minutes. I personally feel that's pretty good. I'd give it 5 stars, but -1 do to the fact none of Linksys' wi-fi adapters support Mac - get with the program already guys.

Works great for me

Don't know the issues others are having. Have this set up on an htpc for high definition video streaming and it works flawlessly from day 1. Great Adapter easy to install and is so small you don't notice it.

Good Adapter

I bought one for my PC which got the 2.4 G pre-installed in it and was very slow in speed. I simply plugged this in and was ready to go in less than 1 minute. Now I get fantastic speed on 5 G band. Bought on Boxing day 25 Dec 2014 online at sale price and worth.

DO NOT BUY

This wireless mini USB adapter corrupts downloads and when viewing websites does not display all images or corrupts them making the bottom half look like static from an old TV. I would give this a 0 star if I could and no drivers did not fix the problem as Cisco drivers are outdated!
