Just upgraded from ECHO 4gb to the new LIVESCRIBE 3 and really like it. Still need to get use to new software and way of doing things but that is normal.
Even though my awesome BB Classic does run Android apps, the version of the Livescribe available cannot be installed.
This is the second Livescribe device that I've purchased. I got one of the original models when they first came out and bought this one to replace it. Very easy set up and was up and running in minutes. It works very well for me as I use Evernote extensively and this allows me to upload whatever I want directly to Evernote in a flash. The pen is still a little on the chunky side but writes well and doesn't take very long it get use to. I've tried all the various stylus models and note apps, but none of them can keep up with my writing style, so this is on paper and much more natural. If your a heavy note taker who needs to keep track of a lot of information, this product deserves a hard look.
Picked up the first Livescribe 3 at Best Buy and the pen would not pair with either my iPad Air or my daughter's iPad Mini. We never did get the blue 'Paired' light. Returned that Pen and received a second replacement which apparently has a problem with the optic sensor as noting is showing up on the iPad now that the pens and iPad are paired. Livescribe website indicates something is wrong with the FSR sensor. I am not trying again, thats two faulty pans out of two. This thing is going back. Just ridiculous.
First of all I do not give 5 star ratings, so a 4 is a very good rating for my perspective.
I use the pen and like it. After a meeting during which I wrote the points discussed and (on a different page) the open points I just send the two pages via email to the participants delivering the fast and easy meeting minutes. I am from a more technical background but like writing because, what I wrote I know and even past situations become clear again with just a short view on my scribble made back then.
All in all a good product.
One thing for improvement: merging the new documents on the iPad (made with Livescribe 3 Smartpen) with previous notes (made using an older model of Livescribe pen) on the computer seems a missing point in the software (at least for me).
I have used the Pulse pen in the past but stopped using it because I moved form a desktop system to a mobile system (in this case an iPad.) The pen works as it should. I come from an art background so I feel that writing notes on paper to be more natural, but I want and need to have them in my digital world to search and review when needed. The pen feels more like a pen than their other products and is simplified. It works very well. The software seems to work very well for me as long as you understand how it works and what you need to do to work with it in your work flow. I like the short snippets way of doing handwriting recognition as I don't often need the hole page digitized. I don't see the need for recognizing a hole page or a paragraph. But the feature that recognizes dates and then you can place them in your calendar or reminders is brilliant; works very very well. This is what I want to do, take the dates and events that I wrote down and have them become useful in the way my iPad works, i.e. dates and times, reminders and stuff. This part works! Also if your handwriting is tidy the OCR part of the software works the best that I have seen.
Overall the software needs some improvement and a few features need to work smoother, but as long as you understand what this product was designed to do you will not be unhappy with how this works.
Excellent product. Works as advertised. There are 2 versions in the States but could only find the std here. Nevertheless it's a cool product.
