Great Racing Wheel

I purchase the steering wheel and price matched it for $.... I would never pay the full retail price for this steering wheel, just isn't worth it in my opinion. I really love the overall performance and features that come with the wheel, it works amazing in racing gaming.

G27 Pros and Cons

I am retired and an Old NFS fan that just moved to town and got a good enough isp to play NFS World on-line. My controller of choice was a Sidewinder FFB which is not supported by NFS World so I got a G27 which I love. It is probably the best toy controller out there but after a year of hard use the main shaft bearing failed and the button assignment went haywire. The wheel was still usable but the only way Logitec would replace the wheel was for me to send it back (even though the problem was a known issue and I offered to buy another wheel and let them credit me when they got mine) so be prepared to be without a wheel for a week plus when it fails and it will. There is also a problem with the plastic centering wheel that causes the G27 to lose center calibration while in use and there was to much dead zone with my wheel. I learned to live with the free play and here is a better main shaft bearing and a brass centering wheel available after-market which make the wheel almost bullet proof if you want to mod a $[...] wheel. PS the shifter is junk. Low durability hence lower overall rating.

I have thousands of hours on this

I have had this wheel for years, and never bothered to review until today. This wheel has had Gran Turismo 4, 5, 6, Need for Speed games since 09, F1 2013, and many more titles played on it through a PS3 and a PS4. I have recently played on the same wheel at a friend's house, and can confirm that mine, which is exceptionally exploited, works JUST AS good as my buddy's and he's bought it a few months ago. Pros: -Never broke, everything works perfectly -Compatible by USB -Can be adjusted onto many custom seats -Pedals are VERY well built with the sensitivity -6 speed shifter with push reverse -Multiple buttons on wheel for hotkeys -Price is amazing considering how reliable it is -Works for PC aswell Cons: -It is stainless steel so I have to wipe the paddle shifters often -It may hinder your social life -Your utility bill may increase -It may end up costing much more than retail once you begin to call in sick multiple times per week -You have to deal with people coming over to your house simply because they want to play -Unwrapping the wheel took me at least 15 minutes There you have it, have fun!

not worth the money

The G27 is a wheel that praised by many, hated by some depends on if you're one of those unlucky one. A lot people complained about wheel not being centered after some use, me included. Apparently after doing some research online the problem comes from a optical sensor which was made from plastic. And if you're not lucky, your sensor will eventually developed very small hairline crack results in a loose sensor which will affect the wheel calibration. There are couple ways to fix it, glue to stabilize the sensor or replace it with a after market brass sensor but both ways required you to open up the wheel and void warranty. If you're a causal game but want a wheel look for something like the DFGT. If you're more of a hardcore sim guy save up and buy something solid like the T500. Either way you won't end up with a [price] piece of junk.

good wheel bad construction

Baught one of these for Christmas, after a month steering wheel wont stay center in race.Found out online that this is a problem with all the g27's.You have to unplug usb then plug back in to recalibrate. Then it just happens again.Found out its a problem caused by the ffb.I am not willing to take it all apart and viod the warranty to fix this engineering problem.I called and they said they would send me a new one after I sent this one back.Wow that's what I want, another wheel with the same problem.Check the net for yourself.Besides this it works great, just be prepared to take it all apart and fix it yourself.Returning.

Best Wheel Ever Made!

Leather feels really good, works like a real car. Just picked one up for myself last week and I'm loving it! This is a must get for a teenager or adult! You can learn to drive manual too! This is great to learn manual with, I never been this good at manual until this thing came along! 100% sure it will make your child happy if you got this for his Christmas present or birthday present for sure! The 6 gear stick shifter works and sounds really realistic and the stainless steel on it makes it even more amazing! 100% love it!

Worth the cost

Bought the wheel 3 months ago & very pleased with the play. Got 15,000 miles of driving with full settings and working like new. The shifter is a little slushy, but when you get into the faster cars, you're better off with the paddle shifters. You can shift without using the clutch which is fine with the newbie friends who've tried it. Reverse is important if you crash a lot,so you should assign 1 of the buttons on the wheel for quick shifting. I had to build a stand for it that cost about $40 in wood It's got a cup holder on it..Painted it Ferrari red and put racing stripes & numbers also. Fun little project. All said, if you're into sim racing it's a good quality, fun product.

Extreme performance and reliability

This wheel can take a beating. I have played GT5 and NFS with it on high setting for hours on end and it's just as strong as it was when I first bought it. It's now 2 years I have it and the price is justified by it's reliability and functionality. The gear shifter works perfect, the pedals are still perfectly intact, and the steering is still very smooth and there's no corrosion on the material whatsoever. When using this for simulators you can actually compare it to real driving (if you were driving a car with no powersteering ofcourse), and the pedals are very smooth. The clutch and stick timing is perfect with no lag and the stick material will not corrode or tear either. Overall, the high price is highly justified as it's a USB input so it can be used on PC and PS3, and future consoles for sure.

Does have Reverse!

Noticed too reviewers mentioning a lack of a reverse gear, or the fack that its labelled on the stickshift but not available. It does have one. It is a push down reverse. It means in order to slide the shifter over and back into reverse, you mush vertically push down on the shifter. This is the same shift method used in many european models (VW for example) and is designed to prevent you from tearing the tranny out of the car by accidentally shifting from 5th into reverse when you intended to downshift into 4th.

Good wheel! *with reverse gear

This is a great wheel, very similar to the G25. the leather on the wheel feels good. a bit pricy but its worth buying since it last for a very long time and it is something nice to have in a vitrual racer's room. but before you buy this wheel make sure you have a right place to mount it. you cannot play with this wheel on your lap. This product does have a reverse gear. you do not need to restart the game when you hit a wall with a rear wheel drive car. why specifically a rear wheel drive car? Don't ask me... and the only reason why driving in real life vs driving with this wheel is diff is because you are driving differant car or different car parts and settings. otherwise there is not much diff between the two.

Ok, let me start of with saying that this wheel is clearly not for everyone. Its a very expensive wheel, and is targeted towards the serious race simulatior players, if your playing GT5 or NFS Shift once a month or less then this wheel is not for you get something a little less pricey. But if you want if you really into race sims and really enjoy sitting down and getting into the guts of the game, this wheel is unreal!!!!! Its well built, quite, and responds reallly well. Yes its up there in the price range but worth every single penny and I would recomend it whole heartedly. If you a race fan and want the best this wheel is 100% for you!

Good fun

OK, it's a bit pricy at 350$, for it costs more than the PS3 itself! But what a steering wheel it is: you can now have a clutch pedal and a real 6-speed manual gearbox! The steering wheel is excellent for it features a silent-motion gears, strong feedback, 900 degree wheel rotation, etc. I sure had a blast with it for the first few weeks. It is also very durable. The games feel much more fun than with a simple gamepad. Overall, it is a first steering wheel I own, and I am very happy with its performance. However, there are some aspects you need to consider when buying this. The reality is, well, totally different than the games (even the great driving simulator Gran Turismo). You may be great at real driving, but you will be terrible at this. The opposite is also true, if you're buying this hoping to become very good at driving a real manual gearbox car, you are wasting your time and money. After playing this for a month, I realized I had a bad impressison of how a real car is - it is totally different. The only thing this does is throws me off from the right learning curve. But, if you're not thinking of ever driving a standard, and just want to drive in a virtual world, it is definitely a fun little item to have with your PS3! I am also dissapointed for the lack of reverse gear, so every time I hit a wall with a rear wheel drive car, I have to restart the race...

You want this

OK, so I felt like a bit of a shmuck for spending more on a steering wheel than on my PS3 that I've bought with it, but let me tell you: YOU WILL WANT THIS. From the moment I started opening it, I could not help but drool all over it. It looks so good that it actually feels like I've got a racing car in my own room. But the great looks is not what's best about it. I've tested it with Gran Tursimo 5 Prologue (US disc version), and whilst it's not the official steering wheel of GT, it works completely fine with the game, except for the flappy paddle gear shifters, which don't seem to work with GT5P. However, with the real manual shifter, you do not wish to use those anyways. By enabling the clutch mode in the game, it gives you a whole new experience, and trust me, a whole new challenge. WIth Logitech G2,7 games are 10X as much as fun, and more challenging, if you want to use the clutch mode- but now you can do stuff like heel-and-toe downshifts, rev the engine and release the clutch, etc. Frankly I was a bit worried that the game won't support all the features of this wheel, but it does, and the wheel is also compatible with PS2 and PC. I was about to initially purchase the Driving Force GT which is on sale now and is the official GT5 steering wheel, but trust me, this one is so much better. It doesn't make the loud noises because the internals have smooth metal helical gears, and it's got much stronger feedback. But best of all, it lets you know how good you really are with the REAL manual 6-speed gear box, so you might find yourself mis-shifting from 3rd into 2nd intead into 4th. It has a neutral position, but I just wish it came with a reverse gear (it's shown on the top of the shifter, but it's not there in the mechanism) and a handbrake lever. What a great purchase! I would definitely buy it again, and Logitech, please make more stuff like this!
