Good little lens

It may be a bit old but it's a great price. AF works on certain cameras so research that before you buy. And some people say AF is noisy but it isn't really that bad. Plus it is a good lens if you want to reverse the lens for macro work.

Amazing!

I absolutely loveeee this lens! It's crisp, clear, the colours it brings out is amazing. The automatic bkgrd blur is amazing.. I just LOVEEE it!! Should have bought this a longgg time ago! I returned this one for the AFS version so that when others use my camera, they won't have to mess around with the lens, especially those friends I have that know nothing about cameras :)

Lens for the pros if you have a Nikon D3100

This lens requires manual focus if you have the D3100. so spend the extra money and get the AFS! so truly my rating is purely based on the camera.

Fantastic!

I use this lens all the time on my D7000. Razor sharp pictures and beautiful Bokeh. Fantastic in low light, with super fast focusing. I cannot stress how much of a deal this lens is at regular price. You will be impressed at how professional your portraits look.

Great lens!

Works great on my D90, autofocus and all. Very pleased with the results so far, crisp details even in low light. A great lens at any price, but the fact that it's so inexpensive makes it a no brainier!

As good as expected

This lens is 'D' version and very good for Nikon bodies who have auto focus motor inside like D7000, 90D etc. otherwise you should buy 'G' version which has auto motor inside lense (which is more expensive) otherwise you will have manual focus only (as far as my knowledge is concern). Also it is full frame lens and if you use it with cropped frame bodies like D7000 etc you get extra 1.5 FL which makes it 75mm equivalent so it becomes very good portrait lens as well in this price. Results are very good. You can take pictures in low light situation and excellent portraits. Lens is very fast lens in its category.

Nikkor AF 50mm f1.8D

Not as good as AFS 50mm F1.8G for regular photography, slower focus, but manual control over aperature works better for video recording since it can be done on the fly. Optional reverse mount works for Macro photography. Impossible to turn down when on sale!

Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Lens

Amazing little lens

I bought it during the New Year sale for use on a D600 - amazing low light performance and PQ. It is sharp. Its relative noisy when focusing and I have to watch where to hold it - as the external barrel turns when focusing

Nice lens

This is a really nice lens that takes great photos. It doesn't have autofocus, so you're left to rotate the lens by yourself, but that makes for good practice and isn't very hard once you get used to it. If you won't do without AF, it is available in the next model up for around a hundred bucks more. The depth of field (1.8) is awesome!

Photographer

This is a fantastic lens! For new photographers keep in mind that it is a D lens and basically is only good for the D90 or D7000. It is manual focus on lower models and won't work properly with the full frames. It is crazy sharp an nice colour and contrast. I'd recommend this lens even over its more expensive G. The 1.4 G however is another story. But this is an amazing lens for the price and a must have for any portrait photographer :)
