great console

bought this for myself and my for my kid, though my kid is using it almost all the time. It's a great system when you can take it with you on the go if you want. The games are a lot more creative and interesting than those you would normally play on phones/tablets. As a dad, it really gives more time to play because of it's portability. It would almost be impossible to sit down and be allowed to play continuously if you have a young family.

Not worth it if your own a Wii U and 3DS

I was excited to buy this but the only games in the library are basically games I can already play on the Wii U or 3DS. My son quickly returned to his 3DS. Might get better use out of it in the future. For now, the joy cons are okay but not great and the pro controller seems overpriced so I will not be purchasing it unless it is on sale. Still love Nintendo but I regret being an early adopter on this console. I should have waited for a significant price drop or a bundle with a great game. If you are on the fence, I recommend holding out an hoping for a Mario Odyssey later on.

GREAT CONSOLE

The console has fun games, and is very sleek and portable. Joycons are small, but the size is easy to get used to. Zelda BOTW is definitely a GREAT game to pick up the day you purchase your console!

Not Available

Been a Nintendo fan since the 90's. GameBoy was my first gaming device. Too bad there isn't a Switch available anywhere.

Great hardware, lackluster software

The switch is incredible in terms of hardware. It's amazing how Nintendo packed such powerful hardware, into such a small device. Switching between handheld and console mode works like a charm, without any hassles at all, and the joycons are a pleasure to use. However, I suggest you wait to buy the switch. There's only a handful of games out right now, and even less that are worth playing. The only game that I wanted to play was Zelda, once I finished it, it felt like I had no reason to keep the switch anymore. I strongly recommend you to wait until the game library is larger, before you buy Considering how the console is sold out everywhere, it's not worth to pay extra to buy from scalpers at this point.

Great little system lives up to expectations

Since I got this at launch I've already played dozens and dozens of hours. I really like this system, and the ability for it to switch from TV mode to portable mode in an instant is frankly incredible. Games are coming out at a steady clip, so just as I'm starting to get bored of one title a new one comes out that I can focus all my attention on. Accessories are really expensive, but generally high quality from what I've seen. Battery kind of sucks, but I have a portable battery charger that is able to provide it with several more hours of power. My left joy-con is having connectivity problems occasionally, but Nintendo apparently has a way you can send it in to get fixed. I've just not done it yet. If you like Nintendo games this is probably a no-brainer. I have few reservations about recommending this system. The biggest one being that if you aren't very interested in Nintendo games you may just wanna pass this by. There are some good third party games, but if you don't like Nintendo's games you probably wont like the third party exclusives since they follow a similar thread of gameplay over anything else.

Terrible to never have in stock in store or online

I've been waiting very very patiently since the very beginning of march when the switch first came out to purchase one. Not once has either of the switches (red/blue, or grey) been available online or in stores. It's been almost 2 whole months and I keep getting the "we sold the last one earlier today/yesterday", "our last one just sold a few minutes ago", "come back tomorrow", and "check on our website daily" lines every time I go there and ask about it. Not once have either variations/editions of the system been available ever. Usually I'm really patient with this stuff, but I'm getting really frustrated that magically every employee at Best Buy has "sold the last one" minutes before I entered the store, and that none are ever available online. I even tried pre paying in advanced because I was told to do that by a friend of mine who bought a switch that way, and they wouldn't accept that either. Such a shame Best Buy....such a shame.

Handheld Mode is Magical!

I loved the Gamecube, and enjoyed the Wii very much. The Switch feels like the most polished of all the Nintendo consoles. Everything from look and feel is perfect! I love my Switch so far!

Good, gets better.

Play your games wherever. Sounds like an easy thing to ignore, but trust me you will get used to it fast and love the fact that you can play while waiting for that lazagna you just put in the oven. At a picnic? Play Switch with your family. Fishing? Play at your own risk - but it's possible. On a plane? Go ahead! In bed? That's right. There isn't an infinite library of games at the moment, but there are already good enough games that will keep you busy as newer titles arrive. Zelda is an obvious choice, but check out Shovel Knight, Fast RMX and Snake Pass on the eShop. Mario Kart is also right around the corner! Battery is fair for a device of this caliber. WiFi signal is strange, though... get an ethernet to USB adapter for online gaming when docked. You may have one from the Wii and Wii U era. I have a gaming PC but haven't turned it on much since Switch release day. It's amazing. I highly recommend it the console!

Great so far

Hard to review a system so early in it's lifespan. So far the switch is off to a great start with an enhanced version (vs wii u) of one of the greatest games every made, Zelda Breath of the Wild. System seems very durable and battery life seems acceptable if a little on the short side. But being able to play games usually reserved for at home on the couch in front on your tv on the go is a huge plus in my books. Here's hoping Nintendo keeps the games coming for this amazing little system.

Perfect Mobile Gaming Machine

Nintendo has capitalized on the fact that many people want to play good games with real controllers on the go. You could recreate the same thing on a phone by buy some unknown brand of bluetooth controller but for the average person, that is way to complicated and frustrating. For the money, this is an extremely capable machine. People complain about the price but when you consider the cost of the controllers that are included, it's comparable to buying a super powerful tablet with a lower resolution screen. It's not overpriced at all really. As for overpriced, I can't say the same about the indie games - they are good but you'll pay way more for these types of games on the switch then you would on Steam. It really hurts to pay 33 dollars for something like Shovel Night Treasure Chest - but on the other hand, I can't carry my gaming tower and monitor onto the train to play it. By the way, Zelda is perhaps a "perfect" game. I'm more of a fallout/GTA5 fan at home and I've never played a Zelda game before, but wow, Breath of the Wild is fun to play. I play it mostly in portable mode and it's great on the small screen. So in summary, the switch is totally worth the money and you won't be disappointing with the screen (for gaming) or the build quality. You will need to be cautious about what games you buy because some of the games being peddled on the store are not worth what is being charged. Check out as many reviews online before buying anything besides Nintendo titles - for example you will discover that shovel night is worth it - others are not.

Another Fantastic Nintendo Innovation

As someone who travels a great deal, the Switch is everything I've ever wanted out of a home console. At first I thought the commercials were goofy, with people taking it and setting it up in just about any place, but I can honestly say that with a small backpack I am able to take everything I need to get the party started just about anywhere I go. To date Ive set it up: in an airport, in a pub, at friends houses, and even at work. The joy-cons are easy to get accustomed to, and though software available as of the date of writing this is minimal, the library of titles set to release has be excited! Pros: * Easy to pick up * Accessible learning curve * Battery lasts approx 4 hours (playing Zelda Breath of the Wild) without making use of power saver settings. * Seamlessly transitions from portable handheld to hard-wired console as advertised * Great weight to it (good hand feel). Doesn't feel overly heavy, and not light enough to make it feel cheap. * Comfortable controllers in multiple configurations. Cons: * MUST MUST MUST use a quality screen protector before docking it even just once (otherwise you run the risk of scratching the screen). * Connecting the Joy-con wrist strap (not included in the box) is easy, disconnecting it is frustratingly difficult. In my group of friends I'm the only one able to consistently do it with moderate ease (and that took a ton of practice). * Software available at release is a little on the slim side. Huge titles are planned within the first year (waiting sucks!)

Best Nintendo Console EVER!

The ease of switching from console to handheld is amazing. I love my Switch and Pro Controller. Make sure you play Zelda first! Nintendo did it again!

New and Exciting

Very happy with this console-handheld hybrid. Have not experienced any of the issues I've read online like left joycon syncing issues or the dock scratching. The hardware feels very good, solid and nice texture. The IU is very responsive and had very little to no friction going back to the games. Not a lot of games, but Breath of the Wild and the promise of MK8 Deluxe, Splatoon and Mario makes it very exciting.

Nintendo Switch is here

Well Nintendo's new console is here, if you are looking for the way to play Zelda this is it. Not a single problem with it so far and the joycons that come with it are fun to use, although for someone who doesn't have giant hands they do feel rather small. The only problem is the current lack of many games, but that's typical of any launch. If you are reading this you already know if you are going to be getting a Switch, It's worth it just for Zelda so far.

Another Nintendo fail

This thing...sucks. Launching with barely any games, gimmicky, overpriced compared to considerably better console, this probably spells the beginning of the end for Nintendo in the console market. The graphics are mediocre and the controls are absolutely abysmal. We sold ours after a day, fortunately for more than we paid because of Nintendos false scarcity that they've created. Don't be duped into buying this joke. You'll regret it.

Excellent so far

Managed to snag one of these in store on the first day, along with Zelda and switch 1-2. In mobile mode or working like a tablet, it is excellent - with amazing graphics, excellent controls. Docked and connected to a TV is also excellent. Beware that because of the way the controllers attach and detach, there are a couple of detachable cover pieces that you will need to take care of or risk losing. Overall, it looks like Nintendo has a winner with this one.

Nintendo Switch

Wow! I just got mine today and it was awesome! But it didnt have a Gtx 1080 which i thought by now would be consumer standard by now... Overall its a very nice console, would buy again if I had the money. I really loved Nintendo's version of GTA V and Fallout 6
