Unit Starts when door is opened

Worked quite well when purchased. However 3 years later I am having the same result like so many here and on numerous fix-it websites. Unit powers on when the door is ajar. I called Panasonic and they did say there is no microwaves being emited...just the fan and light. In any case, a recall or some type of remedy ought to be offered for what is quite obviously a manufacturing defect.

poor quality

I did exchange it twice because it works only last one week and died!

We bought this item a year ago. Within 4 months the inverter gave out. We had it repaired and again within just a few months the product has failed us. There is no point having this item repaired again as it will surely fail.

Do not be fooled by the Looks

This panasonic microwave looks great but craps out with in an year and a half. I have two of them in my basement now. When the 1st one crapped out I thought it is bad luck, now I have another one which will go on working even when the door is open. This is a very dangerous safety issue with this unit. I had to buy the same after the 1st one since this was the only one that will fit in to the existing slot. With door sensor failing and a very flimsy locking mechanism I would recommend to stay away from this unit. Safety of the consumer is being disregarded by selling this sub standard units. When it was working this was a great unit so any body who ventures into buying one, keep in mind the life expectancy is only 12 to 18 months maximum. I would love to see Panasonic take note of these defects and rectify the same before they put this sub standard product in the market and spoiling a reputable name and putting customers at the risk of radiation.

Awesome product

I purchased this model 7 years ago. It was an awesome product....met all my expectations and then some! I was really happy I could replace it with the exact same thing. Looking forward to 7 more years with my new one.

So far so good...

We were looking for an above the counter microwave that would fill in our pre-existing space. This is the largest one available from all manufacturers and looks great. We are happy with quickness to cook and ease of use - however we have only had product for short time so no comment on quality and reliability at this point.

another dead microwave

just died after 3 yrs, just use it to reheat, should last a lot longer than this, now we are committed to another one due to opening and the faceplate, faceplate is just as expensive as the microwave, not impressed!!!!!!!!

Like others, have found it dies prematurely

Like others, our Panasonic microwave quit prematurely (got the H94 message) Ours lasted about ~3.5 years--longer than some others. We have purchased the same model to fit the existing space. At a discounted price, combined with the purchase of an extended warranty, we're hoping to get better value for money this time.

Awesome microwave oven.

I have had 2 microwave ovens in 20 years. The first was a convection/ microwave and the second is this one. Both were Panasonic and both were and are excellent machines. Excellent quality and I have never had one regret. Highly recommended!!!

Looks great but does not last

Like nearly all of the residential microwaves, this one has a very flimsy locking mechanism. In addition, the sensors from the door can fail. Ours would continue running even when the door was open. Clearly the door sensors were not working but this is a very dangerous as when it first happens this means that there is no protection for the customer who gets a dose of radiation. Panasonic is endangering its customers with cheap parts. However that being said, it heats well and is well designed space wise and can take nearly any size dish. Panasonic needs to buy better quality components and add $10 to the price and then they would have a winner as the inverter technology is the best technology out there.

horrible microwave. has low grade china made inverter that dies within first to second year. even worse is when the microwave turns on when the door is opened. just check the reviews on futureshop website.
