Mount doesn't fit

I would give higher rate if the mount work for my car's rear view camera. Also, it keeps asking me the language and date every time the car is starting. I ended up refund it and got the Papago goSafe 350.

Terrible Product

Took about 2 weeks until the plug in broke. I bought a hard wire kit. Then the SD card wouldn't stay in. I bought a new one which also wouldn't stay in, so it was the camera's fault. I got it to stay in with duct tape. This worked for about 2 weeks Then the camera just stopped working altogether. A waste of money.

Great Dash Cam

-Pros Small, Compact, Fits behind the rear view mirror, has a slide out screen so the device is discreet. Controls are easy to understand, works as it should, when the car turns on the camera turns on as well. Dedicated emergency button to lock the file in the event of an accident. Has a pay attention feature that tells you if a stopped car has driven off from a red light. Option to turn on and off microphone quickly, in the event of an accident I want to turn on the mic to record any conflicts between drivers. It's good to document what is said and the status of the drivers. -Cons, records in 1080i not 1080p, the start up sound can not be turned off, it's this weird clown sound but its not loud so it's tolerable. Some reviews say that the device does not clip into the holder properly, but I had no issues, once you place the device in the holder a slight pressure downwards until it locks into the holder. I think what that people have just been laying the device in the holder without clicking it in so it results in it falling off. If you read the manual you would soon figure out that it locks down into the holder.

A happy user!

I really like the design of the camera. I clipped it on my rear view mirror and plug in the power card. Then, it started recording. I checked the footage after 2 days. It records very decent videos. I am super happy with the purchase and am considering to get one for my mom for mother's day gift.

Another garbage dash cam

This is my third dash cam. Much like the first two I purchased, this thing is a piece of junk! Had it in my car for a week.. when I get home and look at the video there's nothing there! Thought I might just be extremely lucky with buying bad cameras so I went through the exchange process with the company. Worthless, new unit had the same issue.. Very frustrated with this company.

Satisfied with the product.

We have been using the dash cam for 4 months now and find it to be very reliable. I especially like the drop down screen which tucks away when not needed. It is less of a distraction that way and goes unnoticed. The camera being mounted to the back of the rear view mirror is also a great feature as it is hardly noticeable at all from outside the vehicle. In general the camera is very inconspicuous and takes great video. We had an incident on the road where a big truck cut my wife off and I just contacted the company and emailed them the footage. I was able to pull of the drivers picture in the cab of his truck as he drove by. ( Only a split second of footage). You need video editing software for this, but the camera can provide the clarity needed.

Useful Function Reliable Quality

I love the driving safety features. The reminder helps me a lot while I am driving. I also love the rearview mirror mount. I use another dash cam with suction mount before, but it drop off from the windshield sometimes. I don't need to worry about the dash cam dropping off from the windshield anymore after I use this dash cam.

Poor clamping and mounting design

Bought this during black Friday. Spent a long time on dash cam review but this product was a wrong choice to me. Teeth on the clamp arms are made of plastic which hardly creates any friction with my Dodge Journey's back-view mirror. My mirror has certain curves on both side, but even it is flat the clamp is not tight enough. Might be better for other vehicle's mirror. The mounting design of this camera is also disappointing me. The camera has slots at the back so it can be just inserted onto the clamp. It was originally designed for easy-to-remove feature but it should at least have tight fit so that the camera would not fall off in bumping road or accident. Do experiment yourself by shaking it up and down slightly and you will know what I mean.. The camera itself is great based on my study before the purchase and that was why I put it on my top selections. However the clamping and mounting design were just not reliable enough. You do not want it to fall off and record your glove box or car interior instead when in a collision. I do not like any tapes or suction cap mark on my windshield so I chose backview mirror mounting type. And I heard that tapes or suction cap could fall off under some cold/hot temp.I am living in Alberta so it is important to me that it can stay tight during summer/winter. But this camera design does not even guarantee normal operation.... Now I go back to 3M taped dash camera and will see what would happen. My friend used a suction cap for his GPS and it does fall off and leave mark on windshield. Suction cap can work better if you treat the contact surface in a right way.

RE: Unreliable

Just because the plug fits doesn't mean that the power requirements are the same between your gps and the dash camera. The current output from your gps adapter/cable is probably below what the dash cam needs, but I can't tell you that's the case for sure without seeing the cable/adapter. Please confirm that your gps cable/adapter is providing power that matches the specs: Power Supply 5V / 1A Please use the stock cable/adapter that came with the dash camera if you're unsure.

Unreliable

I returned the GS381 because the video recording was not reliable. Sometimes it records and sometimes it does not. There is no issue with the power plug because I have used it for my GPS for three years. I have read about similar problems with the dash cam on other sites.

My 2nd Papago - Lora

Bought this 3 months ago for my new car. Bracket mount to the rear view mirror is better than my previously bought Papago P3 for my SUV. The suction cup falls off when the weather is too cold or too hot. Lora is smaller, lighter and a lot thiner than P3. It is better looking too. The rotatable lens is a must in order to aim straight to the windshield. I haven't had any problem so far. The only thing I don't like about the mirror mount bracket is the 4 holding legs are sticking out too long. Perhaps, it will look better in a car with very thick mirror.

Really Happy about it

I have owned PAPAGO dashcams in the past and have come to rely on their products as well as their customer support when I have an issue. I was just about to get the GoSafe 200 because I wanted a rearview mounted dashcam so I could free up space on my windshield. I was looking on their site and saw the ad for their newest PAPAGO the LORA. It’s very similar to gosafe 200 but seems to have better feature including the tiltable lens and some driver assist features.  It seemed like a way better upgrade without a huge price tag. The video is great, it is reliable, never falls off my rearview mirror, and even takes some amazing snapshots. 5 star product!
