PNY 128GB USB 3.0 Turbo Flash Drive

Works really well. Very fast. The only issue I have is the cover clicks in place and makes it a little hard to slide back and forth. Also, it's not an actual cover. There is no protection for the part that plugs in; it's just an open ended cover. But nice product otherwise.

Bought this as a spare backup thumb drive. It is just average overall and will not be used for everyday use. If you need a drive for important files that you do not have multiple copies on other devices than you should invest in a better quality thumb drive.

Great bang for your buck

I use this for movies and plug it into the tv for my own movies on demand. It works flawlessly speed is excellent. Lots of complaints on the cheap casing but I don't transport this around and have had mine for over a year with no issues.

PNY 128gb flash drive

Bought it to back up files for my Mac airbag. I plugged it in, turned on Time Machine, and voila, success. Only 1/3 full, so I expect to back up for a long time without problems. Worth ever dollar

so so

Speed is average for units in this class. The main problem with USB sticks is the housing, I like the ones with the cap, lose it,and we are fine. I have had units that were so cheaply made and sold at a huge price fail. 128 Gig,USB 3.0 for over (price) should always be made with better material than the garbage they are selling .

slow usb drive

PNY is known for changing the specs after the product have been reviewed by fan sites. This is the case for this drive. There are reviews out there that show this drive can do 200MB/s read and 100MB/s write. But what you'll get is not certain. I just got this drive, and using atto, crystal mark, or as ssd, this drive can only do 36MB/s read and write, max. Your mileage may very.

Good deal

Pros - price and capacity Cons - cheap plastic case Overall for the [money] paid it is worth it. Running 'portableapps' without issue. Recognized on computer immediately, no dropped connection issues. Speed is lower than advertised, but for the price and real life usage this was expected. I am averaging consistent WRITE speeds of 50 mb/s on large file transfers and 20-30 mb/s on more complex folder transfers containing thousands of small files. Some files show burst write speeds up to 130 mb/s. Would recommend and buy again.

Unreliable Trash

Bought this on boxing week 2013 and it was a great price and for the first month or so I couldn't have been more please with it. But then all of a sudden if I was using it in a USB 3.0 port (on any machine) it would panic and disconnect/reconnect itself multiple times during a transfer, producing data loss regularly. Unless the transfer was > 1 GB then it would generally work. I hate it and I will not be buying from PNY again soon.

Stay Away!

Bought 2x PNY Turbo 128 GB drives. First drive lasted 4 weeks. Second drive lasted 15 minutes. The drives won't mount on any of several Macs and Windows 7 workstations. RMAed return to PNY. First replacement lasted 6 months. Second replacement lasted 5 minutes. Total waste of money and unreliable.

I read many reviews of this before buying. I agree with most of them. The price was very good, its as fast as others have said on a USB3 port - very fast in some cases, depending on file size and the transfer direction. Working well, and the stiff cover does stay in place. Nice and narrow for ports that are close together Satisfied

Best Seller

I bought this device for cad [price], but right after the boxing week it went to cad [price] and cad [price] a couple of days later. Great cost benefit ratio. Very fast and accurate. I might say though it gets a little hot after a 30 gigs transfer.

large capacity USB drive

It's alright for the price and size of the usb drive. The write speed is not bad when copying large files. When it comes to small files or running PortableApps, then the speed is a lot slower. Overall it's alright, a lot smaller than carrying a HDD.

good but is a little hard to open upon first uses

excellent read and write speeds even in USB 2.0 but needs a better cap system for the USB part but over all, would definitely buy it again

Great! Super Fast.

Unlike most flash drives that are advertised as USB 3.0, this one actually has the speed it should. Though I got mine for [price] on Boxing Day, at [price], it should have a better casing than the plastic that it has.

Very fast drive.

Very fast flash drive on my computers. I had reads at 190MB/sec and writes over 130MB/sec. (USB3). On USB 2 around 28MB/sec. write. Speed will depend on the speed of your hard drive and on your USB 3 controller.

Great product

AMAZING PRODUCT! I love it. Price is very good. If you aren't getting the right speed it may be a problem with your setup or the flash drive itself. Keep in mind when we copy something we usually copy to and from computer. Some computers have slow disks (as low as 5400 RPM). Also not all systems are created equally. I am seeing about 100 MB/sec writes and 140 - 150 MB/sec read with 2 GB size files. Overall I am happy with product.

Excellent Product

This is the third PNY 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive that I have purchased recently. This drive is quite fast both reading and writing and is easy to use. The price is excellent and I am happy with this product. The reason I chose this drive was because of its price and speed. I use one of them to back up my Photo collection which is currently at 113 GB. The second one is used to back up my Documents and Music files which are running at approximately 86 GB. I have continuous back-up utilizing a NAS device but since reading that the Cryptolocker virus is capable of infecting my computer and NAS, I decided that the PNY 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive was the way to go. It is quick enough to write my files in a matter of minutes. Now I feel that my photos and documents are safe. Great product, at a good price. I am running Windows 7.

Excellent deal

Had it for a day and have to say at sale price it's a real deal, transfers USB 2.0 at 20 MB/s on my computer, not tried on USB 3, the manufacturer didn't put the money into the cosmetics or build, but it works great so far, not too many 128 GB drives at this price. It installed and recognized quickly and would recommend this product.

Fast USB Flash at a bargain price!

Bought 2 of these 3.0 PNY 128 GB flash drives on sale ($10 off). Installed in my PC's 2.0 USB port, they read at 31.6 MB/s and write at 22.4 MB/s. For comparison, a Lexar 2.0 USB drive reads at 16.1 MB/s and writes at 5.6 MB/s -- 1/4 of the PNY's write speed. At [price] this flash is a terrific deal!

Great USB 3.0

Bought 2 of these at their sale price, excellent price for what you get (still are). Very fast, even when using on a 2.0 port i got an average of 30mb/s write. As others have mentioned the actual usb feels cheap, yet sturdy, and even though I don't like the cap design it works without problems. Great buy and I recommend it.

Slowest USB flash drive

By far the slowest USB flash drive I've had. It is sold as super fast transfer speed of 130-190 Mb/s. I've been testing it for 2 days now and it is not even 1 Mb/s. It takes forever to transfer photos and documents. I don't recommend !

This USB drive does boast faster speeds than USB 2.0, but it only writes up to ~90 MB/s and reads up to 180MB/s. However, it's not as fat as other thumbsticks, so it can coexist with other cables without any democratic issues.

Best USB flash drive period!

This drive has massive storage, is every well designed, is incredibly fast, and at the Boxing Day sale price was an absolute steal.

Don't buy it

I bought this USB drive. For me, it writes at 16 MBs and reads at about 28 MBs... Almost on par with my old USB 2.0 drive I have used for 4 years. I'd not recommend it to anyone.

Can 't do a system backup on a USB Flash Drive

I bought this to do a weekly System Backup. However, the operating system refuses to do one on an flash drive. So, I can only use it as a very large general data storage and transfer medium. For that it works very well and fash.

Handy Drive

Nice little flash drive, fairly speedy. Other poster is correct, the sliding cap and latch system while keeping the cap from being lost is pretty stiff when new. (Don't know if it will get better with use.)

So far so good

I saw this on the site and at first I couldn't believe what I saw. Didnt really think [price] could buy a 128gb USB 3.0 flash drive. All others were much more. Feeling unsure about what to think, I reserved one and bought it. Only had it a day so far and my first impressions are pretty good. As expected, the usb 3.0 delivers fast transfers while the 128gb of storage space (117gb available) ensures you have more than enough space to carry loads of data in a flash drive about the size of a house key (but obviously slightly thicker. The build quality feels a little cheap where the usb end is but the sliding piece feels well built. Wish it came with either a keychain or lanyard to put it on but thats nothing to get upset about. Will post another review after I've used it for a few weeks-months. So far so good, great bargain if you're looking for lots of space for really cheap!
