Not recommended.

The tablet that I have constantly shuts down for no apparent reason. Sometimes charges very well, other times it takes hours and hours. Some apps work sometimes, then don't work at other times. I certainly wouldn't buy this again.

Apple losers are never going to like the Samsung!

Without Samsung Apple would not be able to build an iphoney or an ipaddy. Apple has not made hardware for years. I love this unit, and it did not cost me an arm and a leg., just drop in a 64gb SDHC card. BTW. I also still use my older older tab10.1

Galaxy tab 8"

I bought this tablet about 3 weeks ago. It meets all my expectations and works well. I would highly recommend it for the price and quality. You could pay twice as much but the difference would be minimal in my opinion.

Great tablet

Great 4:3 ratio, quad core Android tablet. Bought it for my wife for Christmas and we are both impressed. Very light, so perfect as an e-reader and watching videos. Love the micro SD slot to expand memory. Android has come a long way in the last couple years and is finally a viable alternative to iOS.

Product Returned

Had to exchange the Tab A 8.0 for a Tab E 9.6 at the store last night . Tab A 8.0 is ok when you are just using it for watching videos however the letters are not clear whenever you are reading an article from a website. I don't find the screen that bright and I'm having a hard time using my Iphone headphones to the Tab A.

Love it!

First time owning a tablet.. and I bought my husband and I each one for Christmas. Same model, different colors. Both are getting used to it as we're both seniors, but I'm enjoying it and so is he!

Still Learning

I bought this tablet simply because I wanted to see what having one was like. It's taken a bit to learn what I can do with it, and how it operates (more like my phone than my laptop) but I'm getting there. There doesn't seem to be anything truly special about having a tablet other than the size and portability of it. This particular model seems to hold a good charge, has a good viewing screen, and reacts quickly to my prompts. Not knowing what I expected, I am satisfied.

Just the right tab for a not so fancy person like me

I was expecting the delivery for 3 days longer but i received it 3 days earlier. A good job from our best buy buddies! The tablet has disappointments. Just simple as i wanted to be. Has the right size for me like a notebook to handle for my small hands. Not too big, not too small. I am very happy with it as i got it as sale and save some bucks from it. Thank you!

First time Android buyer

Was a hard core Apple customer for over a decade, got sick and tired of their continual limitations increasing with every forced upgrade. Went with a Samsung Tab running Android with the expectation of a more open system. Have been using for over two weeks now, and really like the product. I travel extensively and wanted a system for movies, music, and internet. I also watch a lot of news so wanted apps than can cache videos for later viewing, something that is nearly impossible with Apple these days. The Samsung is perfect for all my needs and am really pleased with the performance. Took a few days to learn how to navigate around effectively but now have no issues. Music and videos are completely open and I really like the sideload capabilities. Battery life is 12 hours and you have an external port to slide a micro sd card into to expand memory as much as you need. I recommend this product for anyone who has similar needs to mine.

What more could you need

I bought this tablet for the convenience and the lack of delay when starting my laptop. I had read reviews and my goodness you have to be incredibly critical and demanding in order to find fault with it. I am extremely pleased with the purchase and I'm delighted with the performance.

Good Product at a Good Price

Tablet performs well. Screen is bright and clear. Price point is good for this kind of quality. Had a few problems with the website during the ordering process, but the tablet arrived quickly.

Great tablet. Ironically tho, im writing this review on the tablet but the best buy website wont let me select any stars. I would give 5 out of 5 if this page was set up for touch screens properly.

Nice Low end tablet

I purchased this as a basic tablet for travel and around the house use. It is lightweight and can be held across the palm of an average adult. The titanium colour looks very classy. Unlike some reviewers, I think the screen quality gives fairly sharp images and letters. It doesn't have the OLED pop of the more expensive tablets, but I'm still quite happy with the image quality of this tablet. The camera/video is OK. It's not that fast, so you have to hold it steady. It works better in bright light than in dark. Music sounded very good and pairing it with other Bluetooth devices went well, though the range seemed a bit limited. I find the tablet to be very responsive to touch commends. The web looked very nice and you can navigate easily. It comes with some handy Microsoft Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Skype) though you have to update them first. They seem to work OK. I haven't tested battery life but it seems to be acceptable.

Traveling Tab

I did not, nor did I get, a top-of-the-line tablet. You get what you pay for. What I did not want nor to pay for was a mini-TV, a mini-sound system, or a replacement for a desktop computer. What I wanted and paid for was a tablet that would provide information when I was travelling, both domestically and abroad; information about those I left behind and about what was around me. It does that well. I wanted a place to back up the pictures I took while travelling. It does that (with an additional purchase of a mini-SD card and an OTG cable) well. I also wanted something that I could use for entering drafts of my trip notes, impressions, &c., and for minor note-taking and keeping track of my expenditures. With the additional purchase of a bluetooth keyboard, it does that well. Too, I wanted something with which I could use offline mapping apps and the like. It does that well. This tablet fits easily in any bag that I carry, be it messenger bag or daypack, and even in the wider pockets of my travelling jackets. The screen, no matter what settings you use, is tough to see in sunlight; I have to seek shade or a tea house. Pity me, having to take a relaxing break at a coffee shop just to use my tablet :-) The battery will easily last for two day's full use and more. As with any Android device, much of how well you like it will depend on what apps you put in it. But! Don't overlook some of the apps that Samsung includes in the Tab A. I find the generic internet browser provided with the Tab to be the easiest to use; the implementation of Chrome in Android 5 sucks. Too, I like the simplicity of of the Samsung email client over Google's app (also included), and the MyFiles works quite well for transferring data from external sources to those within the Tab A's realm. There are likely better tablets at this price range out there, but I didn't find one. I have no buyer's remorse over this purchase.

Poor Resolution

I bought this tablet to replace a 10 year old laptop that bit the dust. As a basic user, I was looking for something fairly inexpensive for light web browsing, music playing and video streaming. While the tablet is user friendly and comes with lots of great features, the picture quality is really quite poor. It would be difficult to enjoy reading any type of eBook, or even web browsing on this tablet. It will be returned.

Great tablet for the Money

This Tablet works fantastic for all you basic needs. The screen is fine for web browsing , movie watching & pictures. The Tablet is very easy to use if you know an Android system. I had an Ipad Mini which I liked at first but the more I used it the more I found out I disliked it !!! the expandable memory alone & the freedom to share & download items with out an Apple FEE or permission... I was so frustrated with Apple I have switched Phones & Tablet and the freedom is great!!! for the price it is well worth it the Ipad mini was more money and less user friendly..

Very poor specs for a tablet in this price range

While I do love most Samsung products, and this tablet does have some good features (1.5GB of RAM and a quad-core processor), its extremely low screen resolution of just 1024 x 768 is simply not acceptable for an 8" tablet, especially in this price range. Many 7" tablets today have much higher resolution and are more pleasant to view than this 8" one. Its images are just not as crisp as they should be for a tablet at this price level. If poor resolution is not a problem for you, then save your money and buy a product at half the price of this one.

Main Problem on this Tablet A

Bought one - had problem with turning on screen froze for hours, ultimately I had to return to bestbuy for another exchange. Now I have second one using occasionally daily but it is also starting to have turning on screen slowing down. I m sure this is also have same problem like the first one.............price is excellent on sale but this problem is disappointing me with the new Samsung tablets. Also while being on, the back gets hot around turn on/off button for hours.

Great packaged, but the screen resolution.

Dont know if the put in a low resolution screen to make more money or to extend the battery life. Its innaceptable today to have a 1024x768 native screen resolution in any product. My present tablet, a basic Asus Memo PAD 7 HD has a resolution of 1280x800. So I brought it back and will be waiting for other models in the same price range to come out. The Asus Zenpad S 8.0 ,as mentioned in another review, is spec wise, in another category. It will probably not be in the [price] range. But if it is, Samsung will have a hard time in selling the TAB A...

excellent tablet

This is an excellent tablet. the battery is just insane. it lasts forever. i had a nexus 7 which died and i wanted an affordable table. I love the nexus line because no bloatware but the nexus 9 was too big and overpriced. This tablet is just perfect, great price, great features, and great screen. so comfortable in one hand. A lot of the reviews are bashing the screen and no doubt its not near the quality of samsung s line, but this tablet is half that price and the screen is really a non-issue.

This is a great tablet, the battery lasts for ages, fast delivery, not really happy with the low resolution, good loud speakers, liked the Microsoft Office suite with the tablet, great OS.

Samsung iPad

Not sure why Samsung is suddenly copying everything Apple has done exactly - the Galaxy 6 phone removed the SD card and removable battery, added aluminum where there was plastic - now it's an iPhone! Now they have this very poor tablet that is designed exactly like the original iPad - same size, same resolution screen...but that was 6 generations ago!! Who is Samsung targeting with this giant step backwards in technology? I don't get it...not impressed, returning it...

Batter Life is long!

To Add, maybe it's because its still new, but so far, the battery life lasts me more than 13 hours. Yesterday, I spent hours downloading and browsing online, going from screen to screen from morning to night. I took it to school and used Powepoint on it. At the end of the day I still had 58% left.

I like it!

This is my first Tablet. Before I got this tablet, I knew I wanted Samsung table because I have a Samsung smart TV and wanted both to sync. I was also planning to get the tab 4. I wanted a Samsung tablet particularly, for screen mirroring with my Samsung smart tv, for movie downloads, for blogging, for school work and lots of writing. But When I got to the store, I was introduced to this Tab A. It came with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).. EVEN BETTER! I read a review where someone said MS word is read-only, but all you have to do is sign in with any of your email account to access Microsoft office and it works perfectly fine as it would on your PC! And it’s FREE!! No additional purchase necessary. At first I regretted buying this table after reading some negative reviews. I also could not find many features I wanted (I didn’t read the manual). Not all apps can be downloaded to this device either which kinda sucks. I almost returned this sweet Tab A for a Tab 4 because I hated it. But after taking my time to go through the features before returning it, I am very much happy with my purchase. Movies show fine, pictures are great, texts are clear enough. I don’t use camera often, But I have my iPhone 6 for all that. This tab A has delivered almost all I am looking for so far. No download issues, no issues whatsoever, at least for now. So I totally recommend this device.

Nothing New

Excitedly purchased Samsung Tab A lollipop expecting full use of Word and Excel programs. The Word program that comes with the tablet is 'read only' argh! If you want full use you must pay extra from the app store. Since this was the main reason I chose this particular tablet I was very disappointed and felt deceived. Went back and got the Samsung Tab 4 10" because it was more for the money....AND the Word app can be loaded up. Either way Samsung undeniably makes a great product - just do your research to find out which one is best suited for you.

Galaxy Tab A

I have been using the Tab A for a couple of weeks. It is much faster than my previous tablet and slightly larger. It fits compactly into my purse (my wife has the same model, but isn't as lucky in her purse size). I particularly like the cardex syle of open application management and was pleasantly surprised to see my apps return to the cardex after I restarted the Tab A. The storage and process reminders are useful - they allow for quick cleanup of extraneous data. Having room for an SD card is a lifesaver - I have moved books and genealogy research to the SD card and figured out how to 'divide' the apps so that I can use both storage devices. I would note that the Tab A guide I downloaded does not say anything useful about the setup and management of files held on the SD card. I was not happy to find out that the MS package of Word, Excel, etc was going to cost me more than I bargained for. In fact, it increases the cost of the Tab A for me. My wife and son are very pleased with their tablets. In particular, my 40 year old son is using his device for gaming and finds it very acceptable.

So far so good.

Gave my Tab3 7' to my kid and wanted something a little bigger. I am not a power user. Social Media, ereading, browsing and a few casual games. This Lollipop tab works perfectly for that in my books. Smooth, have not had any app hiccups or slowdowns. Screen is nice, I am by no means picky but it works for me. No problems with installing any apps, took the 64g card I inserted with no problems either. Still watching the battery life, but it seems alright so far as well.
