What Stylus?

Great tablet. I would give it a higher rating except the pictures advertising this tablet show a stylus, which is not included, nor is it listed on the box contents. Also, the charging cable is the shortest one I have ever seen - would it have been that much more costly for Samsung to have made it a foot longer??

Worth it (except display)

Definitely I love my new tablet ... If you are looking for a fair enough device - voilà -. I am not a kind of high exigent person. I was looking just a tablet for reading while on subway, managing documents, email and watching some videos... It works good and the S pen is kind of really interesting. The only remarkable thing for "my wish list" would be a better display resolution for future versions. BTW: 9GB/16GB free is not too bad in my opinion.

VERY HAPPY!

I am very happy with this purchase. I use it mainly for surfing the web, reading and social networking. The battery life is excellent. I can go a week without having to recharge it. Although, I don't watch movies or play games on it, which I'm sure will use up a more battery life. Samsung products have good battery life to begin with. I also have a Samsung phone, which I use for work, and I can go 2 to 3 days without having to recharge it. This is part of the reason I went with a Samsung tablet. When reading books, screen quality is not the best, but it's not horrible and I can live with it. Best Buys shipping was beyond expectations. I ordered it on a Friday, and received it on the following Monday, which is two days sooner than what was expected.

Pretty Good

I've had this tablet for about 2 weeks now and so far it's been good. The display is very good and clear, no complaints yet. I've seen comments on people complaining about the battery life but so far the battery has been excellent, it can last for days depending on what you are doing but I am happy with the battery life. I only got the 16GB and I intend to go buy an SD micro memory card and see how that works. I got this tablet on sale so for the price , it's a great value!

I'm happy.😄

First tablet with any kind of power so I'm impressed. Yes there are faster out there but this works perfectly for me. The stylus is intuitive to use and fun to draw with. Still too much bloatware but far less then my Galaxy s5, but easy enough to disable what I dont need. I'd recommend it. J

Good Buy

Tablet works as advertised with a clear screen and the ability to link to my Samsung cell and Smart TV. The battery life is fine for my use. The only frustration I have is that I constantly hit the buttons at the bottom of the screen when in portrait mode. I try to invert the tablet to get the buttons out of harms way but not all apps allow that rotation.

Very good buy

It's my best tablet so far, I have 2 iPads, the mini iPad 2 and iPad Air but I'm happier with my 2 Samsung, I have the 9.7 tab and the 8 tab. Price and performance are the best factor.

No real complaints just observations

After much research and soul searching I decided that this tablet had everything I was going to really need at a fair price. Yes it could have more power, better resolution and more storage space but this is all I really need. I'm using it to read emails, magazines and view pictures I've synced from other devices. I does all of that with ease. I would recommend this product.

Almost missed out because of the haters.

I bought one of these for my son, but read the negative reviews and was going to return it. I decided to investigate more and found the negative reviews did not stand up. As a result his mother and I also bought one for each other. I have long held the belief that a tablet would not be of any use to me. This buy has proven me wrong. This will do everything I am going to need. I will no longer need to carry endless papers with me at meetings, or dig through my office drawers for that note i wrote. I can also take advantage of the entertainment feature which is a remarkably great image. I watched a movie without my glasses on and the image was still crisp and clear. I get it that if you are looking for a high gamer experience this will not work, but for the professional, this is going to make my life so much easier. My son, his mother, and I are very happy with this great buy!!! It was a very Merry Christmas,

GREAT TABLET

For the money this is a great tablet. Though the resolution is lower than others it is not that noticeable. Worth buying. The only draw back for me is the low 16gb. I have to wonder why 16gb is not discarded altogether and 32gb as standard.

Perfect for everyday

I'm a stay at home mom and I knit. This tablet never leaves my side. EVER I do pdf files and even books for patterns and with the s pen is can make notes in the margins. Keeping a budget and calendar are simplified. I can use the tablet like a paper notebook while walking through the the house to do my lists, it converts even my chicken scratch to typeface easily. I've gone into every corner (even closets) in my home and never lost wifi connection. Sound is a bit tin box, but it's a tablet, not like you can expect dolby. Screen is bright and clear, not super HD, but again, tablet. Good quality though. No issues at all running 2 apps dual screen, no lag or hiccup. Easily connects and holds connection to an array of bluetooth devices. I pushed the use on this tablet the first week just to make sure and it came through with flying colors.

I'm pleased.

I'm really pleased with this purchase. The battery power seems to go forever. Even after hours of use, I still see 80% power still available. Once I removed it from the original packaging, I was using the unit within 5 minutes. No massive downloads and updates to deal with. Just turn it on and sign in with yourprofile and away you go. It'score to the capability of a laptop, and definitely more powerful than a smart phone. Was surprised to see Word, Excel, etc all preloaded without extra costs to use.

Haven't used my computer in a while!

I love my tab...ask my husband, I haven't put it down since I bought it! I use a drawing app all the time for stress relief (i download colouring book pictures and colour!) I read, and i take it to work and do some marketing work from it. Since I even have word and excel, it's all i really need. typing is good on the keyboard, and if you have something large to type, a bluetooth keyboard is faster and easier. Writing is a bit slower because of the recognition software, but it's awesome if you're switching in between applications and you're using the pen in one... you don't have to switch gears. It's very intuitive, and I love the double screen feature. I had a blast setting it up with widgets, for 'at a glance convenience'. Sound is good, and xbmc works a treat. At half brightness, the screen is still great and it makes the battery life last WAY longer.

Great except for the horrible screen

I bought it on sale for $[price] before taxes and it's a great tablet for the price with one major drawback. The S-pen is amazing and I'll never buy a tablet that does not come with a pen in the future, it really helps to write on PDF forms and to draw stuff, ect. and it works really well. The screen however is so unacceptable for 2015. Text looks bad, small pics and small video's look bad, basically anything small looks grainy. I loved the tablet and the S-pen but the screen was so bad that it was a deal breaker and I returned the tablet. Will wait for the next one with an S-pen and a good screen.

What I was looking for

Yes, it does not have a high resolution screen. Don't get the tablet if you are primarily looking for a high performance video/gaming device. However, the screen is definitely good enough. Documents look great, and the kids are happy to watch a movie at the cabin. The S-pen is a huge winner. So amazing to fill out pdf forms, web forms, or excel spreadsheets with just writing by hand. The recognition is fantastic if you don't have too bad "chicken scratch" for writing. The selection tools with the pen are super cool too. It feels like a simplistic Windows Surface, but with the style and functionality of an iPad. It was really exactly what I was looking for in a tablet.

First Tablet I have had

I am happy with this tablet, so far no problems with it. To me the screen seems very clear. After reading reviews on other tablets I was wary of the problems with low battery and the battery taking forever to recharge. I am not seeing that at all with this tablet. Salesman said battery will last 10 hours, that was a bit of an exxageration but it does last a long time and it is fast to recharge it, so all in all, I am impressed with this tablet.

Very bad screen on a good tablet

I have this tablet for the last two days and I will return it to the store. The tablet is fast and built very well but the screen has a very low resolution. Text look horrible on it. I would understand if it was a low budget tablet but at this price it's unacceptable to have such a dated display.

I got this tablet for my son's 8th birthday and he just loves it. He has not yet discovered it's full potential because he is only using it for games. It is very fast, clear display, lots of memory which can be expanded and the two speakers sound good. I highly recommend this product for anyone. It is a very good product for the price and it has great potential.

Worthwhile ONLY for the S-Pen

I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 because I had to. Samsung ruined my previous tablet, the excellent Samsung Galaxy Note 8, when their Android KitKat update for the tablet irrecovably damaged its S-Pen function. I'll state here that the ONLY reason I considered and purchased the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is because of its S-Pen. I sketch and write on my tablet and prefer a stylus over my fingertip for those tasks. Having used considerably more expensive pen-enabled tablets from Wacom and Microsoft, I found Samsung' S-Pen is the best stylus implementation currently available available. If having a stylus matters to you, and assuming Android sufficiently meets your needs, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 may well be the only tablet you can consider. If you don't want or need the Galaxy Tab A 9.7's stylus, then definitely consider another tablet. Here's why: 1. The Galaxy Tab A 9.7's screen is too low resolution for its size. I don't know why Samsung chose to equip this tablet with a larger lower resolution screen than its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 8, but it's certainly not something I appreciated nor enjoy. Text and graphics do appear "fuzzier", especially when viewing smaller content, ie. "pinching in" to view a full page. 2. The touch screen buttons on the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 don't light up. Anyone who's ever owned a Samsung tablet or phone will find this INCREDIBLY frustrating. The Back and Recent App buttons on either side of the Home button are crucial operating elements in Android and must be easily visible and readily accessible at all times! The tablet's buttons are barely discernable under good ambient light, let alone when/where it's dim or dark. 3. The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 lacks hepatic feedback or vibration notification. Considering how common and useful these features are on far less expensive Android tablets, including (no less) Samsung's own tablets, this omission is both inexplicable and inexcusable. 4. Lastly, but certainly not least, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, even with its S-Pen, is far too expensive given its shortcomings - period! Beyond these fairly significant drawbacks, and S-Pen considerations notwithstanding, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is reasonably sufficient in terms of its performance and memory. It's also worth mentioning that tablet's battery life is excellent and that the tablet is remarkably thin and light. Samsung cites Android 5 as one of the tablet's benefits. Considering the features they didn't include, I suppose we should be grateful for it.

Buy the tablet A with S pen ! Pay the extra bucks

1. This tablet is a tablet for school, personal aggenda , and to take notes and office work ! 2. Buy something else if the only thing you care about is resolution. 3. This tablet has an amazing keyboard ! 4. The S pen it's just amazing, all the problems I usually have with touch screens are totally gone with the s pen since you can be more precise. But you'll have to actually use it taking notes or editing office works so you know what I mean. 5. You can edit all your office work here perfectly. 6. The battery last for ever and never over heaats . Other tablets with better resolution do over heat a lot. 7. The price is awesome for everything it does . 8. The size !!!! It's amazing !!!!! People hate the screens that we to wide, but I love them , they aren't supposed to be huge cellphones they ae supposed to be tablets and this is the perfect size to put the tablet on the side and be able to work confotbably with the intense keyboard , 9. The bottoms ae placed nicely ( something I couldn't say from other TABLETS ) 10. The scene size is perfect for multitasking which is something you are going to see doing a lot with this tablets. 11. The speakers are decent So short review would be . Buy it if you need to take notes multitasking ,good battery, work on office, draw with your tablet, and anything that you would use a pen for. Do not buy if you are looking for a tablet to do stuff like .. watch movies.... which is not a reason to buy a tablet in my opinion.
