All aspects of this pad are great. The only downside is I find the built in speakers a little inadequate compared to the iPad. Highly recommended though. The USB input and added memory capability is a huge plus for me.
after updates my tablet locks me out...hours spent with teckies, my passwords didn't work ...bottom line - factory reset...2 times and after each factory reset you loose functions.....never again
Nice tablet just for reading books but not for watching movies. If you willing to pay [price] for e-reader, well this one is for you. My is going back.
Similar to another poster, I too needed to replace my netbook - I had been looking for about a year but nothing was in the price range or capabilities that I wanted. Finally, the S2. I haven't done any serious work on it yet, but I find it to be responsive, quick, and easy to use. I already have a Samsung Galaxy phone which probably helped with the "easy to use" part but, regardless, it is fairly intuitive. One of the first things I had to do with it was attend a Skype conference while in an airport and I had no problems at all. I would definitely recommend this tablet to anyone who was looking for something this size with a little bit of everything: internet, word processing, and leisure activities (reading, games, Netflix).
Also of note, do not disable the "Galaxy Apps" app (my bad). You need this for Microsoft Office (yes, it does come free with the S2) - to install and to update. Just a hint I thought I'd pass on from the helpful and patient customer service reps.
I have replaced my iPad with Samsung Galaxy Tab s2 and it was the best thing. I am extremely happy with performance and ability to read USB drives. Great.
Thanks for making a product that is versatile and well built. Ruth
Like the display and the battery life. Processing is fast and size is great. The fingerprint access is the most irritating experience I have had on any piece of equipment. Works once in about ten tries! Very, very frustrating. Would consider an iPad next time.
This is my first Android anything. Been a long time BlackBerry fan. The screen is big and it is a little heavy for reading after a few hours. The battery doesn't last as long as I thought it would and the constant Apps getting updated is a little annoying. The tablet is very fast and all the apps available are great. I love the extra SD card i can add. I bought two for some long flights I do. It connects so easily to everything in my home. A good purchase and I would purchase Samsung + Android again.
I purchased the S2 to replace an old netbook that was very limited in its use, I use the tablet mainly to read, I went on the Internet and purchased a cover & a mini to normal USB adapter. Now the S2 is fantastic.. I can look at my photos which are on flash drives, Videos & movies ...Happy days are here again !!
I am replacing (for most things) my Samsung Tab Pro 12.2" with this one. While I love my Tab Pro it is a bit of a beast to hold on to, especially if you're trying to read in bed at night. I'll likely still use it for a few things but the S2 will be my main tablet now. I just got this on Friday so I haven't had it for long but I'm no stranger to tablets and I really like this tablet. It is light (I added a bit of weight to it with the Samsung S2 Cover) and the screen is beautiful. Scrolling is smooth and fast. I'm not the kind of person who opens 10 apps at once so I can't speak to how well it handles a lot of multi-tasking but the couple of apps I do open together often such as Chrome, Kindle and email seem to be no problem for it to handle. Battery life will take some getting used to after the Tab Pro but it's a trade off for having a super slim and lightweight tablet. I think it's a tad over priced which is why I waited for a sale.
Couldn't stand using my ipad mini anymore. Got this tablet since it's similar to my Galaxy S6 phone. Took it to Cuba for internet and movies. Screen was excellent in the sunlight. Tablet is very quick, battery could be a little better. Functions, apps and pre-loaded software like MS Office are excellent.
I purchased a Samsung keyboard/case with the unit and it functioned fine. Purchased it for the amazing color and screen clarity as well as the flexibility moving data, however the screen cracked so ridiculously easy and Best Buy or Samsung would do nothing about it. It was not dropped or bumped in any way and I am the only one using it. It cracked just through normal moving around. I do not have kids and my wife has her own iPad, so she had no reason to use it. This is clearly a manufacturing defect. The screen was protected by the unit on one side and the keyboard on the other and yet the screen cracked through normal transportation of the unit. I opened it up and surprise. Very disappointed in Best Buy and Samsung. At least Costco backs up their products. Should have bought an iPad instead. Even if I repair it, I would be afraid it would crack again just as easily.
First off I am normally an Apple fan but this tablet IMO has the iPad beat. What sold me was the expandable storage to 128gb and USB port. Easy to set up and loads of apps.
I purchased the Tablet on Dec 15/15 set it up install 2 or 3 programs on the system updated it self with in a copy days the screen start turning off system would have to wait the 30 sec then turned onto log on sometimes it would let me in for a bit other times would turn the screen on as soon as a did something, got worse so had a online chart with Samsung not it back to new and problem happen shortly after. the Tablet is not usable.
1st tablet and so far so good. Fast and very good screen. Good thing I bought during Boxing Week though since the price is not good value now.
I upgraded from the TAB S (which my wife now uses and enjoys). I wanted to have the increased processing and connection speed. Since I also use my tablet for work sometimes, the much lighter TAB S2 is easier to hold in my hand while standing and presenting. I wish the screen was 10.1", but I am getting used to the 9.7" the more I use it.
Bought this tablet on boxing day, it has been wonderfull to replace my old laptop with almost all the same features. It's super fast, smooth, no lag, lightweight and can hold with one hand. The battery will last a good 8 - 10 hours on auto brightness, obviously if you have it on highest brightness setting it will drain much faster, as a matter of fact the screen is so bright it hurts my eys if it's dark.
Overall it's one of the best tablets you can buy today, even give it an edge onver the Ipad air 2 in certain ways. Android is a beast with multi tasking, though it taxes the hardware much more than the OS on Ipad. Get the leather wallet for it as you will not always want to hold it with your hands over long periods.
The price is double what other Samsung tablets cost, but that's what you pay for the Super Amoled sceen with higher resolution and an 8 core processor that ensures the device does not lag when using programs that really give the specs a workout.
Give it 2 thumbs up!
This is a very nice tablet, personally I don't see alot of difference between models but I have a galaxy tab S and got the S2 for my son.he loves it.I think the S has a sl;sightly better screen but other than that it's a great tablet
Beautiful screen, blazing fast speed.
I love Samsung, I own 8" samsung tablet and use samsung phone, decided to get a bigger screen (the big screen tablet I have, IPad 2, hangs and has become very slow).
So, I find..
Performance wise, it is fast.
It is thin and light.
Screen is sharp.
Picture and video quality is good.
I bought a high speed micro sd for additional memory and so far, no problem reading the card.
I find the battery life shorter. Even when I'm only browsing online, much more if I played games. But, I would get use to it as it's not that bad, just noticeable shorter battery life.
The finger print lock is cool though it seems to not be able to read most of the time, but there is always the back up password so that is not a big deal for me either.
All in all, I love my newest gadget.
This tablet has everything you would ever want. An awesome display a fast octa core processor and 3 gb or ram as well as expandable memory. These specs allow you to seamlessly brows the web as well as play games with little to no lag at all. The screen will blow you away its something you have to see and experience with your own eyes. I am very satisfied with this product and in my opinion the samsung tab 2 is the best tablet you for the price and in many ways destroys it rivals.
I got one for Christmas and love it. The only thing I do not like about it is it does not support Adobie Flash as I love to play in pogo and can not play them.
So far except for that which is a pain for me it is great. It should be 4.5 rating only because of the Adobie thing.
light weight, and thin,if your looking for an Android tablet , this one is great,
32 gb was not enough for my needs, micro SD memory is now cheaper, 64 gb for less than 40$,, you can go up to 128 gb,, for a total of 160 gb.
for videos, and music , this tablet is more flexible, it will read all formats, and not only apple formats.
I also prefer Moon Reader to iBooks , which is not available for iPad .
there are other cheaper ones, but with a fast processor, great display ,I figured i'm set for at least 2 years.
is it better than an iPad ? ,, no ,, is it worse ?,, no... just different,,,, get the one that will fit your needs,
if your still undecided between Apple and Android,,,,,,,, get both....I did.
I have had the S2 for about a month now and I am very pleased with it. Everything about it is great. Fast, light weight, excellent screen, and easy to use. Yes, it is pricey compared to other tables (except the newest iPads) but, add a bluetooth keyboard and you really can do most of what a laptop does.
This tablet is lightning fast. Great picture. The cost was high but well worth it. Great job Samsung!
1st year great. 2nd year Lollipop arrives now battery cannot give 5 hrs. Also disappointed that sd memory card provides only limited expansion - most apps cannot be moved to the card. Sad to leave android but no real choice. Replacing with Ipad Air2 with better OS and more built in memory.
What Samsung is thinking , they want to sell last years headwear at premium price.
