Awesome headphones

Absolutely love them! I was hesitant to pay [price] for a pair of headphones, but you get what you pay for. No set up required, just need to wait for them to charge and you are good to go. I can walk in backyard and out to garage and even down to basement and they are still crystal clear. Totally recommend them!

Sounds fine to me

And isn't that the most important thing. I have a large collection of multi-channel music and these are the only phones I've heard that do it justice. I also have a large head so they stay put just fine. If the single optical connection is enough for you ($20 converters are available) then don't bother spending nearly twice the price for this year's model.

Too pricey

I bought these when they were on sale for [...] and even at that price they didn't seem worth the cost, so I took them back. The first pair I bought didn't work so I had to exchange them, which killed the excitement of getting them. Leaning my head back to play games or watch videos would cause the headphones to slide off my head. The bass is unimpressive, not deep, and can't be adjusted. The charge station is nice looking and a good way to store them when not in use. The wireless feature worked fine all around my home. Overall not worth the purchase, unless you're single, have loads of disposable income, and can't be bothered to research a better set.

Not Balanced

too heavy; cannot bend over without them falling off.

Not at all worth the price

The headphones are not at all comfortable to use if you wear glasses. It is so tight that it hurts and you cannot make any adjustments. Quality wise there was nothing great when compared to lower priced items of Sony. Further product cannot be returned once opened for hygienic reasons!! How could you try it out without opening it.......duh! If the reason is hygienic all items, it could be easily sanitized. Even cell phones can be returned even after you talk and listen!!!

Great headphones

I'm extremely impressed with these headphones. The sound quality if amazing in normal mode and truly impressive in 3D cinema mode as well. Reception, build quality, value are all strong points. Overall a 5/5.

Tons of feedback and headphones are too large.

I can't listen to anything without getting some kind feedback. I've tried using different computers, TVs, rooms and various distances from the router thing with no luck. The headphones are a really loose fit, which was surprising because I don't have a small head. All the other reviews are great so I'm wondering if I just got a bad pair...Either way, I will definitely be returning these today.

Return Headphones

The quality is likely comparable to other headphones in the same price range however I find them much too bulky and not comfortable. They were purchased on line as a Christmas gift from my wife (Lorelie) and I would like to return them.

I'm lovin them

These things are great! They have the level of quality I've come to rely on from Sony including the inflated price, but I NEEDED a new pair of 2.4 ghz headphones and found Sennheiser uncomfortable. To those who've complained of tinny sound or lack of volume either adjust whatever the bleep they are plugged into or get your effin ears checked 'cause the track I use for testing bass came out perfect.

Needs an Equalizer!

Headphones work great, but have very little bass. It sounds like everything is coming from a high quality, tiny radio. Everything sounds "tinny". I played with the build-in sound modes, but they seam to do very little. All it needs is 4 or 5 slider equalizer on the side of the base/charger and they would be perfect. 3/5 because I will return them, poor sound.

Yup, they are Wireless Headphones!

Without an amp (or a headphone jack on my HD Samsung), these were the perfect solution at a Boxing Day price. Plug into the audio out or optical out and you're set. You can adjust the sound level directly behind your right ear. I don't use them very often so I plug the optical out directly into my PS3, XBOX360 or AppleTV when I want to play it loud into the night. They do grow uncomfortable if you wear glasses, so I would test out other options for comfort if you're looking to make it a regular thing. If you're looking for a mind blowing headphone experience, I would suggest upgrading to something with better bass and noise cancelling.

Sony Wireless 7.1 Headphones with DTS and DD

I have a wonderful audiophile surround system that I love to listen to DTS music and watch movies. Unfortunately, my neighbours are complaining. I decided to try these Headphones but to be honest did not expect them to sound anything like what I was used to. I was astonished at the sounstage these headphones produced and loved the freedom to move about witout having to sit in the sweet zone. The highs were very good, the midrange was excellent and the base was acceptable. The soundstage was wide and gave the feeling of being in the middle. It took a bit of listening to get the voices in the front, but after a while that became very normal. These headphones are big and perhaps a little bulky but it is worth the sound experience. They definitely block out outside noises and completely immerse you in the music. I also tried some stereo inputs and the DD PL2 did an acceptable job of emulating surround. If you have to dial down your volume on your existing speaker based surround system these headphones are the perfect choice to keep everyone happy...including you!!

I bought this unit a few weeks ago during black friday. I must say, the sound is clear, crisp and it exceptional for watching movies. It reproduces all the details. I have a 3D BD player and I can assure you, the sound is similar to the one of my Home cinema. What I don't understant though is that the DTS signal never lights up whatever show or movies I watch. I read somewhere that we would need an HDMI cable in order to have that DTS sound, but there is no HDMI output. So I'm wondering why did they put DTS on the unit if it can't reproduce DTS sound. Overall it is an excellent unit even if it a bit expensive even on sale during black friday sale.

Better than I Expected

I purchased this product last week and have it connected to my Denon AVR988 via Optical out. After a little tweaking I sat back in amazement at the reproduction of DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 recordings. The sound stage was excellent and came close to my B&W surround speakers. The highs were good (not excellent) but the bass was crisp and full and the midrange very clear. The volume ceiling was more than required and I could control volume through the less than 1/3 of the amp power was loud. I would recommend these surround sound headphones to any audiophile that listens to surround music or home theater movies. The only negative is the volume control on the headphones is almost recessed and is difficult to adjust...this is minor. These are great!!

Not bad but this is how far they go...

After reading many positive reviews, I decided to give these headphones a try, especially considering great promotional a-la Black Friday discount... I also picked Sennheiser RS-126 for mainly same reasons, as well as for the brand's high reputation in this particular market (must say, after a lot of hesitation due to the renowned appeal and quality of more expensive RS 160/170/180). Well, after testing and experimenting for several days, I've come to conclusion that the much older (been on the market since about 2006) and far less expensive RS-126 beat Sony's phones hands-down in the sound quality and transmission distance and quality departments. This is not to say there's anything particularly wrong with this Sony model as it delivers a decent distance (although much shorter than advertised "up to 100 meters") with acceptable sound. It also has such advantages over RS-126 as the comfort to wear (sits and feels a lot more comfortable) while providing better isolation from surroundings due to the over-the-ear design; connectivity via optical cable for transmitting from digital signal source (that's a must for advertized 7.1 digital sound surround; regular analog RCA ports are also present); overall esthetics. But for me, all these factors still don't make it up for the mediocre (compared to Sennheiser phones) sound quality, much higher price and the fact these Sony headphones utilize a proprietary user-non-replaceable rechargeable battery (which, should replacement be required after warranty expires, may cost well over $50 with shipment and labour at Sony authorized center). I'm going to keep Sennheiser and return Sony phones.

7.1 surround ?

bought these a few weeks ago and I was very happy with the rich sound quality. They are comfortable to wear but get very warm on the ears after extented time. My problem is the 7.1 surround that I can't get out of them because my Sony 7.1 receiver only has Optical in connections so I can't plug in there so my other options are my cable box, my TV or my Apple tv and they don't transmit in 7.1 surround . So what's the point of paying for this option if you can't use it. I still like them for the overall sound quality but I wish I could use them in 7.1 surround.

They're good, except...

We looked at Sennheiser's for better sound, except the Sony's have them beat on all fronts. Firstly, these have a lithium battery that run for hours. The Senn's have standard NiCad rechargeable only. The Sony's truly have the edge in range however. You can wear them anywhere in the house. Heck, you could mow the grass and listen to your music. The Senn's range is approximately 21 feet - the Sony's over 300! The charger is terrific and simple. You place the headphones on the transmitter and everything automatically shuts off and it goes into charging mode. Take the headphones off and the transmitter turns on, however you must turn the headphones on manually. I wish there was a setting where you could choose "auto on" for the headphones, but it no biggie. There are two things that I don't like. The volume control is awful and located in a silly place. I also think that the straps should be made of spring steel instead of plastic - plastic deteriorates over time and I can see a strap breaking easily in the coming years. The Sony's are comfortable to wear and don't hint of giving you that typical "headphone headache" after long use. The sound quality is accurate and tight. To date, I am very satisfied with these headphones.
