No Brain-er! The Force Awakens is Awesome.

This Blu-ray will not disappoint. Some people have refused to purchase this Blu-ray but seriously. The picture quality is awesome, the sound is incredible, the story line is great (if you don't take it seriously) and the re-imagining of the franchise is just enjoyable. Get it.

My only reservation is that this movie looked too much to the past instead of forging ahead to try something truly unique instead of a retro theme. It has also given rise to a bunch of whiners who disrespect the prequels to the point of crushing the vision GL worked so hard to create and polish. Our opinions matter but not to the point of being insulting and as narrow minded to dismiss all three as some kind of epic fail. When we look ahead to the new generation of stories, both animated and the upcoming sequels and film stories alike, it is important in my mind to build on those facts we accept as canon. The continual banter about the prequels is really annoying. The timelines between 3-4 and 6-7 are huge opportunities for character development, and Disney sees that. Why don't the complainers? Sadly, it sets the stage for armchair analysts to tell the world how bad it was, yet they likely could never write or achieve what Lucas did himself. Sure they may not have been as epic as 4,5,6, but let's face it... Those were huge shoes to fill. I am actually glad they explained the backstory so well and told the tale of Anakin and his days with Obi Wan. Yes Disney and JJ did well to respect the fans. My concern is more about what will follow in the years to come, but for now I'm content with knowing it is far from over.

Worth it.

After George Lucas tarnished the great series of star wars films with episodes 1-2(episode 3 was not included only because of the stellar final scene in the film), I was actually pretty reluctant to believe the positive reviews. But I am extremely happy to say that this movie is probably the best movie I have seen in a long time. The dialogue was witty as well as emotional, and the movie did an incredible job of merging new characters with old favourites. It is a bit derivative of episode 4, but that does not mean that the movie is not as enjoyable. Any star wars fan is happy to see episode 4 more than twice, so I don't understand why people cared so much that they rebooted the series by carrying much loved elements of the old films and mixed them with the new film. Overall, I was extremely happy with this movie and it is worth much more than [price] to own it on dvd.
